Along with my order of No 5 (arguably the best floral fragrance ever created), Chanel sent a sample of Allure. Bravely, I spritzed it on my arm and I was SHOCKED. This stuff is nasty, cheap and vile. It makes Badgley Mischka (a far superior fruity floral) seem like a stroke of genius. I do make fragrance concessions if a line has bath/lotion products to layer, but I would not wear Allure even if I had a free supply. I admit that many Chanel fragrances are for a mature audience. I admit that many Chanel fragrances are hard to wear. But this horrible pandering to a younger market is ridiculous! Whenever I wear No 5, young women come over to find out what smells so clean and pretty. One said that she was going to treat herself by making a purchase and she did just that, proving that young women know quality when they smell it. And Allure is a no class. low quality fragrance. Shame on Chanel...

A serene, feminine floral that starts out cool and leafy (which reminds me of a lily) and ends up warmer and delicately sweet, while still maintaining the overall impression of a floral shop. This fragrance is a bit prim for me. I might like the EDP better, according to reviews.

As I had just tried one of those modern 'straight from insecticide to bubblegum' messes, Allure at least smelled like a real perfume. A medium floral dried down over an hour or so to an acceptable, sharpish powdery scent softened by vanilla. Not impossible to wear, as long as you didn;t pay for it. It reminds me of a dollar store 'imitation' scent... close to something lovely but not actually there. (My experience was a bit distracted by the gross stench of Allure Sensuelle on the other arm though- I tried them both at the same time to sense the connection... which seems to be marketing, not note.)

While it first smelled rather appealing, after about 15 minutes on my wrists it seemed way to overpoweringly sweet. On the other hand (or wrist) I can imagine someone else wearing this successfully. It just doesn't work with my skin.

girls, you really have sent a little notes to chanel declaring this one is for men. I don't get it, why chanel needs to pampering women with such smokey scent? The pencil, cloud, and petal mist are not in proportion. They hit the air with awkward moment, and finished the day with huge question: "why?"

Allure in adj:
Level 1: Dusty
Level 2: flower ash
Level 3: wit of wedding
