This was a big, heavy green Chypre with a dense, gourmand base. It smelled to me as if Estee Lauder's Private Collection sat around for a long time with a bag of corn tortillas. Do you know the smell when you open a bag of fresh corn tortillas? A slightly damp, vegetal, limey smell, totally different from the smell of cooked tortillas? Well, that is what this smelled like--in a very agreeable way. Imaging two women--one wearing Private Collection and the other Magie Noire--side by side in the kitchen making enchiladas. THAT is a dinner party I would like to attend. A big scent in tune with its time, this was sadly from the tail end of what was once a very respected cosmetic and fragrance house.
