The reigning queen of all vintage leather chypres! Truly a smooth leather with that chypre/oakmoss structure underneath. The re-issue is nowhere near as wonderful. Although rarely on eBay, Diorling is not forgotten because bottles go for small fortunes on eBay, especially parfums. I was recently testing an 80s bottle of Guerlain Derby when it struck me that Derby has much more to do with fragrances like Diorling then it does its 80s-powerhouse brothers.

Like Lanvin Scandal and vintage Cuir de Lancome, it may be called 'feminine' but Diorling would be a bold masculine by today's standards. Consider yourself lucky if you have a bottle.

I had the extreme good fortune to try vintage Diorling edt recently and was totally taken by surprise. I thought Diorling would be another chypre tiger coming out to bite my hand but instead it is the most lovely polished leather scent. I just want to keep re-applying it to my arm!

Diorling took me back to childhood and my grandparents who always had Cadillac cars (hey- I'm from the South). Diorling smells just like their Cadillac's leather interior which I loved as a child. It felt so secure and warm in the beack seat of their car. My grandparents were also big into roadtrips and would always take me along. I would just snuggle up in the pillowy back seat and read by the back seat light enveloped by the comforting scent of luxurious leather.

For comparison purposes, I also tried the current edition of Diorling. which has nowhere near the class or lushness of the vintage Diorling. In the current edition, the leather is very toned down and I get mostly a chypre-floral bouquet tied together with a bit of leather string. Also, it does not last long (1- 1 1/2 hr.)

A powdery old-fashioned chypre, a little musty. Not bad, but not worth seeking desperately for vintage bottles either, in my opinion. There are other vintage chypres that stand out more.

I think there may be some misconception regarding Diorling...First of all it was created for women and was not considered a unisex fragrance in the 60's, that being said, it was perhaps one of Christian Diors' best fragrances, why it no longer is produced I would not know. I suspect the recipe was somehow destroyed or perhaps an attempt at replication took place, after which many high end perfumeries destroy their recipes to protect the art, which after all fine perfumery is in fact an art, more than a business. Only came in to try to find Diorling. Apparently it is no longer for sale, as I am not inclined to purchase from e-bay. Please, if you have information where Diorling may be purchased, if in fact it is still beig made, please let me know. U.S. or U.K.

This brilliant perfume is forgotten. You hardly find it on e-bay. Nobody will understand you when you`d wear it.
But I love this perfume!!! It`s flowery chypre so excellent that I need an endless bottle. Classified as feminine, it is not a curly girly scent but sober autumn cologne for gentleman. Every note is so clear, I even can smell some mushroom accent in it!
Almighty God (or dear Santa)! Please, make its vintage bottle mine!
