An opening blast with raisinous dried overripe peaches and prunes, combines with the most sensational and natural freshly ground black pepper imaginable - dark and luscious rawness in highest concentration.
The drydown adds flower impressions, on my skin mainly geranium with hints of lavender and rose merging together to form a lovely potpourri, dark velvety and mysterious like a flower garden at night.
After several hours, however, the star of the next phase arises: the most natural, slightly pungent, fresh, uplifting oakmoss; absolutely gorgeous! Admixed are woodsy and slightly musky whiffs in the background, beautifully created and of an intensity only very, very rarely encountered in the quest for great fragrances.
And the performance: simply sensational! Strong sillage, stellar projection and an incredible longevity of beyond sixteen hours on my skin - we are talking Amouage Interlude-style figures here!
In summary this vintage perfume is a classic masterpiece of stupendous quality of its ingredients, extremely well blend whilst convincingly maintaining great structure and development. One of the pinnacles of D'Orsay's creations and of its time. Divine indeed. 4.5/5
