Tatiana (1975)

This fragrance reminds me in the topnotes of Coty Sand&Sable -tuberose and a soft powdered gardinia . Then more powdery notes which I thought were violet -turns out it is a SWEET orange blossom and hyacinth combining .Now it smells more like White Shoulders (not a favorite of mine).
This is recomended if you like POWDERY ,SWEEEET FLORALS!!
Tatiana is not to my taste .I passed the bottle to my mother (who does like White Shoulders)and who can sometimes wear scents that won't work on me It's a mystery how skin chemistry and hormone levels play in fragrance wearing.

I was introduced to Tatiana in the 70's by several members of my family as birthday presents. This do to the fact that my name ( not my nom de plume, Theodora) is a diminutive of Tatiana. I do not suggest buying someone a perfume just because it shares their name. But actually, I did like the original. It was a fresh white floral with cool green notes. Now it's like a Lily-of-the-Valley soliflore - a cheap, acidic soliflore. Tatiana always had a lot of sillage and still does. Unfortunately, that's no longer a good thing!

Tatiana smells to me like days-old vase water that housed tuberose and bitter dandelion stalks, and is rescued only by a light amber sweetness and a whisper of rose. I understand the draw of a floral genre, but this is too literal for me. It's like I just ruined someone's garden with my forearm.

I wore this back in the 80's and lost touch with it but found a big bottle of EDP available from Overstock. Mostly out of nostalgia I ordered it and am so glad I did! Its a beautiful light floral, sweet but not overly so. The scent lasts all day; do I detect sweet peas?

The thing with this perfume is that I was given a .5 oz bottle of edp as a wedding shower gift four years ago by an older family friend of my husbamd's and had absolutely no interest in it until I saw it in a discount cataloga year or so ago. I recognized the name and wondered if it was the same as the small bottle I had stashed in the back of a drawer, which it was. I looked it up on here and, upon finding tis review page, decided that maybe I'd give it a try, which is exactly what I did, today.

Anyway, down to business. The opening blast was really alcohol-y , and I remembered why I never wanted to actully wear it. But that burns off soon enough and it becomes really flowery. I don't know if it's some sort of lily that dominates it or what, but if this scent were an actual bouquet, it would be fine. But it is not something I care to wear on my skin again.

I wondered if this was a fragrance the lady who gifted it wears, or wore at one time and wanted to share. At any rate, I respect whatever intention she had in giving it, but, sorry, it is just not for me.
