This was once my signature fragrance. I was 25 at the time, and living on my own in the city. It's a very strong, old-fashioned powerhouse of a scent that need be used sparingly. When I wore it I feel like I could face a crowd of men at a board meeting and be confident.

It smells like incense and asphalt on a hot rainy day in the city. Does that even make sense? :)

It does have a lovely dry-down and will last on skin for the whole day. Blends beautifully with skin oils.

The reviews of this are interesting. Some think that this a warm fragrance. I got just the opposite impression. I could really pick out the basil, coriander and petitgrain and there is something very fresh about that combination. Also, I felt that, although this perfume was long lasting, it wasn't too strong. A very versatile and unusual scent. Even though it is not a scent that I can't do without, I like it & will probably buy it again.

It is difficult to pinpoint the time period in which this fragrance belongs. It isn’t classic, it’s not modern. It does remind me a lot of the fragrances of the CK Eternity generation: But in a way it seems more modern than Eternity – and certainly better. I get an unusual, almost synthetic, feeling in the opening. The top notes claim aldehydes and ivy, and between those two notes, that might account for the unusual top accord that I’m getting. When the fragrance reaches the heart notes, I get an “ancestor” accord – an accord that seems an ancestor to Light Blue. It’s nice to find continuum and historical precedence in a fragrance. The middle notes are floral but are not flowery – these florals serve more as neutral texture than as lush abundantly flowery notes – the same use of florals as occurs in Light Blue. There is a soapy feeling to Dolce & Gabbana, and it’s quite a strong fragrance – being light on the trigger is advisable. I can imagine it getting quite heady and uncontrolled in hot weather. Great longevity. This is an excellent fragrance that has proved its excellence by surviving so well for so long. For being Dolce & Gabbana’s first fragrance it is quite an achievement. An appreciative thumbs up for this fragrance.

I love this fragrance! I have to agree with elgab89, this is all about power. The first few minutes are not special (the fressia turns me off) but after 20 minutes, watch out! It makes me feels like I stepped out of a a Helmut Lang shoot -- all slink, high-heels, & sexy.

This scent first grabbed my attention in about 1999 when I noticed it on many different women in public, especially at nightclubs on warm summer nights...it stopped me in my tracks and it is the sort of scent that can be noticed from the other side of the room, it makes an amazing statement, it has a radiating, lingering, warm tone which draws you in...a beautiful woman wearing this scent becomes even more desireable when you detect from her even a hint of this stunningly sexy scent.

Mmmm...this one is soooooooooooo nice!

It's sweet, warm, calm and feminine, sensual, homely, yet somewhat exotic...It manages to be all of this, plus more, without being overbearingly sweet. In addition, I find it to smell equally casual and romantic, soft and timeless. I also find that it is a much a spring/summer fragrance as it is a fall/winter fragrance - but I do prefer the way it smells in the depth of winter...

It reminds me faintly of a flan my Nanna used to make, but in that capacity, it also reminds me, and I re-iterate, reminds me, as it is certainly nothing the same, as the sweet, creamy, warm and sensual smell of Chanel No. 5 - after 5 hours drying down...In addition, it contains a lovely balance of soft white florals, exotic incense, vanilla and musk, a hint of amber, and a dash of essence of butter-cookie - it is NOT, however, gourmand. So if you want a gourmand, do NOT purchase this...

But if you want to smell feminine and sensuous, by all means go ahead!

Plus, it won't break the piggy bank!

I always get compliments when I am wearing it. I am a person that wears fragrances accordign to my moods. This one makes me feel in power - good for days when I want to make myself noticed and get my points accross the table. I always wear it for interviews ( brought me good luck! ). I can understand also the comment about bedroom wear. It has something very sensual to it - maybe it is the musk note.

Simply put ladies, this is sex in a bottle (at least to my sensitive nose).
It is appropriate ONLY in the bedroom. Women who wear this as a daytime/office scent are sadistic!

My only perfume that not only gets noticed, but is complimented by almost every guy I meet. They say I smell like inscence and they think it's mysterious and passionate and luxurious. I love inscence and spice, so it's not too much for me, it's just right

As someone who cannot abide white florals, I adore D&G's heady freesia/vanilla start, with delicate rose and woody undertones. Not for the feint of heart, this is a very "in your face" fragrance, it lasts forever on me. Perfect for a day (or evening) when you want to treat yourself well, and remind yourself of it every step of the way.

Bought this because the lady who used the copy machine close to my desk always smelled so good and this is what she wore. The bottle was pretty, though the top never fit quite right. I think I wore this perfume twice, it never really did anything special for me.

I love orientals, but this is too much! Smells almost like an older men's cologne. I'm not sure why so many people like it. It's very strong and spicy, nothing really feminine about it. Maybe it's the carnation or coriander that I'm not caring for? I'm hoping that maybe I'll like it more as it settles, but judging from the other reviews, that could be a while....

YES! I agree with all the previous reviewers comments. A warm red oriental - the aldehyde note subtly softens the sharper tones, creating a blend that doesn't come off too flowery. Although the basenotes include sandalwood and tonka bean ~ the musk is most prominent. I find this to be almost a 'signature' of D&G fragrances - and it's quite nice! This one brings to mind Venezia by Laura Biagotti, maybe a little softer.

A stunner that I'd like to wear for myself. I love the spice carnation in the midnotes and the drydown is a wonderful musky oriental. I wish they would have capitalized on the blend of plant and flower when creating the men's scent.

One spritz lasts 8 hours on my skin. This scent really lasts. I too have gotten many compliment while wearing this, from men and women alike. As the previous reviewer mentioned this is not a shy scent and it gives you an added confidence throughout the day. This is my signature scent and I savor it.

The body lotion is great too and it lasts all day. The bath powder is so luxurious and richly scented, it is instant comfort when worn.

One scent I will never be without!

A study in contrasts. Starts our rather sharp and bracing (not for the shy), thanks to the tangerine and ivy, and slowly melts down into an ideosyncratic blend of bitter and sweet floral and wood notes that leaves a strange and haunting trail. Instantly recognizable and very distinctive. I've gotten numerous compliments while wearing it, especially the parfum de toilette, which is all but impossible to find now. But be careful not to overapply!
