It definitely could be a unisex fragrance, but it is masculine in its own right. Fruity with a powdery dry down. Pleasantly fresh.
Great longevity like DG pour Homme as well as great sillage.
Thumbs up.

In my opinion, so far, this is the best of the Dolce and Gabbana lot for both men and woman - and that is saying alot, but this is simply fantastic! I wish the men's was this good! No matter, I'll wear them both, but prefer this one. Guys, don't be afraid to use this!

5 STARS!

Indeed
a true «feel good thing...neutraly bright and cooly warm»
-feotidus
smells remarkably fresh n clean but in a way that avoids nowdays crap, yet the only recent fresh n clean designer feminine marketed for younger public that I truly respect. You see... where I live, girls of my age (18-22) tend to wear things that are just.....how could I say in a proper language...that are just total crap (I'm talking to you cool water woman, ralph and swiss army). yet, light blue is a big exeption to all this nonsense
No ozone/calone/cheap smelling childish too-sweet'n'-too-sour fruity florals.
Instead we have a good accord of crisp greed and jucy green apple / fresh dry decamphorized cedar in the oppening , and what I suspect to be a healthy dose of Iso E super and Hedione that gives the haert notes a pure, clean and liquid feel (NOT AQUATIC PLEASE). For the rest, I could not say really.. perhaps the iso E super goes on and on, with a pretty little white musk and some more cedar. the whole thing is very very well crafted and balanced imo. this «perfume» was the weired characterirstic of being feminine and almost girly whithout being childish girly. Yet almost unisex for those of us who don't fuss about wearing feminine fragrances...
by the way, I agree with the one who said that DnG shoud discontinue the newer light blue for man which is nothing compared to it's so called feminine alterego.

I bought this for my honeymoon trip and every time I smell this it reminds me of my honeymoon trip, It was a Caribbean Cruise, and Light Blue smelled delicious the entire time, it sticks for hours, but it never dulls or anything, it stays fresh and making you feel clean and cool, very recommendable for hot weathers.

Jumping on the bandwagon that the women's Light Blue could be unisex and that D&G should discontinue their Men's version. I had taken my girlfriend into the store to smell this specifically. She grabbed the bottle and smelled the atomizer cap only so I grabbed a card for her to spray on. She missed and sprayed my hand!

This was terrible on the card HOWEVER I was able to test it out on my hand. Man I can't stop sniffing. A lightly powdery fruited cedar. I still smell it after 3 hours.

Instant headache potion.
I owned and loved this for a few months when I was 13 or 14, back when it was fashionable. I'm not sure what happened, but overnight I couldn't wear it anymore. I think it is the cloyingly sweet woodsy note that burns itself into my brain and attempts to fry it. Sadly, I now am at the point where I can get physically ill even smelling the *cloud* emanating from someone else wearing it on the street or (god forbid) in a closed space like a train.

I really expected to like this one, but don't care for it at all.
Hopefully a friend will like it and take my bottle off my hands.
It smells artificial and harsh to me. I agree with the comment about it smelling masculine.

The Granny Smith apple note in the opening gives enough contrast with the cedar and bluebells to create a bit of olfactory surprise. The whole floral fruity top level is smooth and refreshing and very nice if not extremely sophisticated. It’s a feel good thing – neutrally bright and coolly warm. The florals and bamboo of the middle continue with a smooth floral / green dominated by a simple jasmine: the simplicity of the accord is captivating and is completely in tune with the vibes of the opening. The base is more cedar and musk—quite recessive to my nose, but I think its sparsity is fully in tune with the theme of Light Blue. I enjoy this scent; it is refreshing, it is the springtime and mountain lakes and butterfly filled meadows. At times I think that Light Blue could be a unisex fragrance, but then there are times when it seems so youthfully feminine. Regardless, it’s a charming scent and it deserves to be as popular as it is.

I love the fresh blast of the beginning and the soapy-clean dry down, but somewhere in the middle (about 2-4 hours after applying it) it starts smelling like very strong, very plasticky air freshener to me, reminiscent of fresh Gucci Rush. When it's worn by other people I can only smell the nice musky base notes, but it just doesn't work on me.

I don't get the big deal with this fragrance. It seems dated and masculine to me.

I like this fragrance a lot, it's so fresh and citrusy.
However it doesnt' really have staying power on me which is a shame as I really like the scent.
When I was buying this bottle I stumbled upon Dior Addict 2, which in my nose has something similar to this.

*Updated review* Light Blue is an energetic, positive, lovely fragrance that manages to be uplifting, fresh, and sexy at the same time. It works well in hot weather, but it's a perfect pick-me-up on a cold gloomy day. Oddly, it starts out with heavy cedar notes on my skin and seems to get more apply and citrusy as the day goes on. When I wear it, I continually get whiffs of something that smells fantastic, and then I smile, because I realize it's me! Love it!

The notes say green apple, but the fruit comes across as grapefruit to me, with notes of bubblegum. No matter--these are man-made aromas, so any guess is as credible as the next. This is a great fruity scent, sweet and vanillic, tart and juicy at the same time. I find it soft and pretty, mellow and full, yet lively. For reference, my favorite citrus fragrances are Moschino I Love Love, which has a zesty, definite grapefruit note, and Montale Soleil de Capri, which has a natural-smelling citrus. Light Blue is another that I like, with its playful, mouth-watering, wad-of-bubblegum note.

LOL - I totally agree with what a few other people here seem to point out - over the past few years, it has indeed become a stocking-filler sort of fragrance.

This perfume, along with Brut cologne spray, Piere Cardin, Lagerfeld Classic (a fantastic men's fragrance), Chloe and Anais-Anais, has indeed become a Christmas stocking filler perfume - well at least within my family.

That being said, everyone in my immediate family, including myself, have quite expensive tastes in fragrance, usually steering clear of stocking-filler fragrances - but this is one that everyone I know enjoys waking up to on Christmas morning!

Fresh, dynamic, relatively clean, sporty and quite unisex. Freshly natural smelling, not laiden with synthetic-smelling crap. The bamboo note is clear and harmonious - almost cerebral in nature - like unto pure mysore sandal essence, yet absolutely nothing like it! And the Granny Smith is clear and fresh smelling, never stuffy and sweet, as it quite often is in other perfumes.

The cedar and musk is light, and sticks very well to its name sake.

And for some odd reason, maybe coz of the name, maybe coz of the notes, I associate this with Baby Blue Jeans.

But anyway, I am a guy, I like wearing it, I get lots of compliments from wearing it in Spring and Summer, and can't wait to try the men's version, but I haven't seen it anywhere here in Brisbane, yet. But I can't wait - and I truly hope it resembles the original.

Cheers, and enjoy. 6/10 from me, and thumbs up.

Most D&G fragrances are just too much for me, but this is lovely. It's refreshing and crisp with good sillage. I like this and Jardin sur les Nil by Hermes for summer.

The top notes for me show a great deal of citrus and a hint of the fruity middle notes, but they fade away very rapidly on my skin, even the midnotes don't show a lot of presence and sadly, i don't find that it has a strong -not even a faint- white rose note, the note i was most interested in, maybe that white rose was the type that wasn't very fragrant.
What i get the most, and what sticks to me like glue for hours, is the base, and the white musk is the one note that wins over the rest.
Strangely, it has a similar drydown to VC&A's Automne wich has a lot of woodsy notes.
The cedarwood is also very present.
I didn't find it womanly and i felt it could easily be an unisex scent. Well, in the case that your skin (like mine) skips the fruits and flowers and goes straight to the base).

This is one of the only fragrances that can ENTIRELY pull off what i like to call a 'citrus blast.' The top notes are heavenly, and from there on it develops beautifully! Fairly cheap, and one of the most commonly ripped off perfumes YTD!

I read the Granny Smith top note thingy and thought (THATS IT!!!) It had been bugging me for a while and while it's every chav's favourite stocking filler round where I work, it's also very recognisable and this must surely be why. Modern, female, none-to-intellectual. Were I 16, I'd use it after a PE session, in large quantities. It's a good fragrance for a young girl ot start a collection with

I agree with the reviewer commenting on how Light Blue trumps Moschino's I Love Love. They are similar, but the latter is something you would give preteen niece for her birthday. Same goes for Anna Sui's plethora of fruity fragrances she cranks out every couple months. Living in Japan here, you will find these sparkling citrus scents everywhere, which is why you can buy a bottle of this at nearly any drugstore, albeit for twice the US retail cost. Lastly, I have been wearing this fragrance off and on for 5 years, and have been experimenting with layering it over other scents like Origins' A Perfect World bath line.

my girlfriend wears this. it's the best smell on a woman i have smelt. It's light, its delicious. I always want to get near her neck to smell it. she puts little on but it lasts a long time. i love how when things get hot, it has good sillage. i recommend this to women who don't know what to buy.

I was alerted to it via a radio interview I heard with the NY Times scent critic. He loved it, so I tried it out.
I got it as a present just recently. I love it. It's light, not too girly and just a tad woody.
All who smell me(!) like it, and my boyfriend prefers it on me more than Clinique Simply, my other staple scent.

Also, it isn't too popular here in Melbourne. Everyone I know seems enamoured of celebrity scents or other fashion houses' perfumes.

This fragrance starts off with sparkling citrus which I find lovely. It's very nice and perfect for anyone, even thought it's marketed twards women I believe it can be a unisex fragrance.

It's perfect for the spring/summer and it has very good sillage! This is a MUST buy for all citrus lovers, both men and women should try this one out.

PS: Please don't mistake the knock of for this fragrance called Cheap and Chic I Love Love by Moschino, they smell alike but the dolce&gabbana one is much better.

I've never actually tried this on my own skin, but I agree with lalaloquy; it really does seem like every third person is wearing this. I've always really liked this one because, excuse my cliche, it does smell like a "just out of the shower" kind of smell. However, it's got a little bit of a papery element to it. Or cotton balls or something. Am I crazy, or does anyone else smell this?

This smells absolutely joyful. I think I remember someone saying that this is what people in heaven would smell like, and I simply have to agree. This fragrance, with its lemon batter scent, does it for me everytime.

Thumbs way, way up!

I love the cedary/ musky base notes, & the way the lighter fruity notes blend with them; on me, the upper notes *mostly* fade off pretty quickly, but what remains of the whole is (mostly) unique (Moschino's I Love Love is similar, & I actually prefer -it-).

However, this scent is **tired**... or at least it was for a long time-- it seemed like every third person was wearing this stuff. Many of these have likely moved on to the next hot scent, but doubtless if you wear it, people will ask, "is that Light Blue...??"

Light Blue starts out beautifully with a Granny Smith apple note providing the zest, a touch of florals, and some very lovely cedar.
Presently, it begins to fade, but is still nice enough. The drydown comes quickly, and a bit of musk lingers.
This would be a nice gift scent if given at the beginning of summer, as most women would make use of it then and appreciate it.

I often get compliments on this when I wear it, but after about 2 hours, I feel like I'm choking. The scent does not leave me for at least 12 hours, despite it being EdP, and using one spritz! The citrusy/jasmine element is what attracted me to it, and then poof - WOOD!

I loved this one from minute one to hour five on a co-worker of mine and bought it to blend with male components to tough it up a bit because of what came across as "spicy," rich notes in the woman who was wearing it. Funny though, it turned out to be one of those scents in which the musk note becomes imperceptible to the wearer, so you have to be verrrrry careful not to over-apply. You can't tell how much you really have on. Lovely.

At first I liked it as a fresh, light, refreshing citrus fragrance, but as it dries it turns more and more artificial, like some horrible cleaning agent. It might be because it's not actually citrus but green apple. Apple scents are always horrible and artificial on me.

No wonder it was a hit! It's so different from most women's fragrances with with freshness and "hit-you-in-the-face" clean smell. I loved it and I loved the furry light blue box, too. However, it is very recognizable and sort of narrows down to 1-2 notes after a few hours, which is what everyone smells on you. I love it within the first half-one hour. I even tried mixing it with other fragrances but there's this overwhelming note that it has, which trumps anything else. Worth keeping though - very nice overall.

Light Blue by D & G is definitely a citrus-cedar scent. I can't believe it's not marketed as unisex - as I would much prefer this fragrance on my husband! The lemony top notes drydown to a lovely cedarwood base. Not heavy in any way. The name for this one is very appropriate!

i don't love it, but since i collect perfumes, it can sit in my closet. it has a full bottle in it.. hardly ever would use it i think. anyways, top note with a very nice citrus, and blends to a soft flower scent. some what semi sweet, not too sweet. it's more of a summer fragrance. definetely not for winter.

Dolce & Gabbana make the most unique perfumes. The initial note on me is like a juicy fruit & melon salad; all with out being too sweet. How did they do that? Middle notes smelled like a mixture of lemon, lime & orange musk.

After the lovely initial citrus notes, this fragrance turns to something like Kool-Aid on my skin. Plastic marzipan, maybe. Definitely unpleasant.

I like it. Not in love, but definitely different than most "clean" scents these days. Smells almost identical to Moschino's I Love Love. I'd describe this as a crisp scent, not very sweet. Shouldn't offend anyone...very safe, I think.

Probably the best of the "citrus- fruit-cedar summer scents" (see also Trussardi Skin, L'Artisan Zeste D'Ete and Guerlain Eau de Fleurs Cedrat, among many others) out there. I'm not a fan of cedar as a fragrance note - I like it in other incarnations, just not on my person - but what Light Blue manages to do is balance out the hard-to-handle sharpness of cedar's essence with several other notably soft, smoothing elements like apple, jasmine sambac (the sweet, warm kind) and bamboo. All of these are mellow yet sturdy enough to keep the cedar from completley taking the spotlight. The topnote of citron gives the composition its crispness, of course, but after that it becomes a fairly sensual skin scent. There is a tiny hint of the unisex in here that I think is a semi-hallmark of many of D&G's womens' fragrances; the same could be said of By (the one for women) and even - go ahead, call me crazy - Sicily, albeit to a really very minor extent.

This to me is a classic. I can imagine a man or woman wearing it. It has a fresh sparkling apple begininng, then a musk dry down. Perfect for a hot summer day, or a frosty winter morning. I like it alot, and I have many scents in my wardrobe.

One of the nicer day time fragrances for women. I immediately bought it for my girlfriend upon release. Little did I know how popular it would become. I'd say it is probably the most worn female fragrance in my country right now. It's understandable though as it's an extremely pleasant blend of orange blossom, white musk and some other sweet and fresh notes. Also Light Blue doesn't feel artificial or cloying at all like many others (Issey Miyake, Polo Sport for women etc.) and this fact has surely contributed to it's massive sucess. Same bottle as the original but with frosted glass and blue lid.

A winner and well-named - a soft, diffuse, woody-fruity-floral with an airy quality about it, that doesn't step over into citrus or transparent territory. It has a delicious green apple note that never turns gourmand, thanks to the light florals and soft woods. The apple, which seems central to this fragrance, combines with other notes to produce a hauntingly orris-like sweet gale undertone. This fragrance retains its distinctive notes into the drydown, wisely staying light-spirited and soft. It is surprisingly long-lasting, nonetheless, a real plus.

My son generally loves everything his mama wears. Even Mitsouko. That is, he loves everything except D&G Light Blue. Every time I try this, he screws up his nose and says, “what is this? Poison?” And, ahem, he doesn’t mean Christian Dior’s brand of Poison, either. He means poison as in skulls and crossbones. I don’t think it’s as bad as that, but it’s one I rarely ever wear. My first experience with Light Blue came last Fall when I spritzed some on in a dept store. I was very pleased with the opening notes, especially. Very reminiscent of those luscious notes that open Lanvin’s Eclat d’Arpege. But that’s where the fun ends. After that Light Blue gets heavier and heavier on my skin until I about can’t stand it. Thing is, when I tried it in the dept store, the opening and the drydown were both nice enough that I later purchased a mini to try out at home. Well, my subsequent experiences with Light Blue have not been all that positive, and, according to my son, not positive at all. Still, I’m giving this a neutral because too many women pull this off quite nicely. But it’s a bit heavy for my tastes.

Its no coincidence that the only other two reviews for this fragrance are by men- they go crazy for this scent for some reason. I think it may be the creamy vanilla heart in the middle of it. Its not a french vanilla, but something whiter and stranger, with an almost smokey orange bottom. The fact the the citrus kind of lingers at the edges of the big vanilla heart really makes this a more interesting and offbeat scent than you might expect for something aimed at a 'younger' woman. Good for something casual and sexy, without being too flamboyant. Not really a "dressy" fragrance though.

I rarely pay much attention to how manufacturers classify their perfumes. This one is allegedly for women but I wear it too. It's good, with a strong essence of citrus, but not an offensive one. It almost feel slike being at an orchard of orange trees at their blossom. If you're looking for something gentle and sans the foul musky base notes that mar so many masculine perfumes, try this one.
