I have no experience with the original version. But, this latest is eau de grandma's closet. It turns on some people, too.

For some odd reason, a couple of people have made me presents of this. I don't wear it. I have also been told it smells similar to Joy. It doesn't.

Yumm! I love this scent. I have the cologne, and I apply it liberally, and I find it lasts for me. I detect a spiciness- an almost carnation-y secent that I just love, along with the powdery sweet florals. This is a great daytime scent, though I enjoy wearing it to bed, too. A classic that deserves its reputation- that's White Shoulders.

Very floral in an almost bathroom spray way. Lily, gardenia, lilac, all stereotyped, exaggerated versions of flowers. It holds nothing back, is naively straightforward, unsophisticated. Not bad, but not for me.

I know they've changed it from the original formula. It's not as sharp and crisp as the older version. It's still nice, soft, clean and flowery, but not the same. It's almost too soft. So, this would be perfect for those who don't like strong scents. My mom wore this back in the 70's, yup, when it was the good stuff. I liked it better than, but I still like it. Just watered down, I guess. It reminds me of coming from the shower. It is a bit soapy, now that I think about it.............

White Shoulders is way over the top sweet for me. I don't know why it is so sweet. It has gardenia, lilac, amber, oakmoss and Jasmine in it. I have smelled other perfumes with those florals in them and have not smelled them as being as sweet as they are in White Shoulders. Funny thing is, I used to love this when I was very young, but now that I have matured, I tried to wear it again and no. Way too sweet.

A little goes a long way with this one - it's quite strong and lasts well. I wasn't sure what to think of White Shoulders at first as I'm not a big fan of tuberose, but something else draws me in... the amber and incense, I think. I also wasn't sure if I was seasoned or refined enough to pull it off, but I think it works! And my guy likes it too, which is a plus (although, he might have commented that it reminded him of his grandma... but she's a cool grandma and we love her). ;)
