Lord I loved this stuff, and wore the bath oil as perfume in the 60s. How I wish I had some again. This scent was truly mine. There was a nice Tigress Musk as well. Thomas Wolf was right. You can't go home again.

First off, buy or swap for the vintage stuff only. (The new stuff is pure shite.)

What we have here is Shalimar's older, somewhat sluttier sister and Tabu's distant cousin. She is every bit as vanilla-laden as Shalimar, but not half so, eh, demure. She's every bit as sultry as Tabu, but sans the strong herbal/"root beer" notes of Tabu.

This is not a frag for young women, IMHO. No, this is thirty to fifty-something cougar material all the way.

By the bye: without a doubt, Tigress' fun faux fur capped bottle was one of the kitschiest in all of perfume bottle history.

I wore this back in the 60's when Cary Grant (yes, THE Cary Grant) took over Faberge. What a smart business man! The marketing campaign for this and two other old Faberge scents put Faberge back on the map. I remember this as a fun, cheap oriental. Tons of amber and spice! Ah, the good ol days...

The original I still have very little. It is sexy, deep and sultry yes. A cheap perfume that is now much sought after. It leaves a large dark trail with a black-like vanilla and remind me of women in a dank bar with whiskey in hand but a wonderful fragrance that deeply satisfy my nose.

Way too musky and growling when I was a little girl, but still smelled great. Would be a much better scent now in my adult years. I remember it as a golden musk with some floral edge, but mostly as musk. It was my idea of what a sexy, seductress would wear. (but I was pretty young then. Would have to smell it again.)

Sexy, sultry, a nose-filler. Not subtle in the least, but utterly pleasing and dusky in its warmth. Yes, it's well-named, definitely for evening wear and seduction. (Or for going to the flea market when you want to draw a crowd....)

DO NOT buy the current fragrance, it's a horrid washout which doesn't even attempt to mimic the original. And DO look for the original at estate sales -- it was a popular market item, and when you smell it you'll understand why. Inexpensive then, expensive now -- because it remains a growlingly sexy classic.

My mom would wear Tigress when she went discoing. I recall notes of bergamot, citrus, jasmine, geranium, sandalwood, cedar, and vanilla. This was a really exotic smelling cologne. Brings back great memories. This stuff is liquid gold now that it has been discontinued. Brings good money on Ebay.
