Very Irrésistible (2003)

A very heavy scent, I don't get the smell of roses just a heavy musky powder scent. For me its not a daytime scent, I would only wear this at night. Overall not a bad scent, just nothing special. Very common.

This is my review for the "2008 Harvest" edition.

The top notes have a distinct papery quality. It's a note I've smelled clearly in other fragrances, but I'm at a loss to describe it as anything other than "new magazine smell". The rose is there, demurely, as well as a floral note that brings to mind peonies.

As the paper note fades the fragrance starts smelling more definitely of rose, but the SA who gave me a sample of it described it quite accurately as "rosy but not smelling like a rose". The listed notes say something about star anise, but my nose fails to detect that as a distinct note. I only smell a slight soapy-spiciness in the heart and base.

The sillage is soft, but the longevity is good.

On the negative, there is something about this that just smells "cheap", somehow. Too much in common with various shampoos for its own good, and with so many excellent roses on the market... you have to ask what makes this one worth your time.

None the less, there is enough charm in this fragrance to give it a thumbs up.

Wearing Very Irresistible is like being enveloped in the color pink. This is basically one long cascade of roses. Anise is listed in the notes but I can’t smell it after the first fifteen minutes of VI. That’s a shame. I wish there had been a more prominent spice element in this to hold my attention. But looking at what VI actually is (and not what I want it to be) I think that VI is successful, overall. It’s certainly a scent oriented towards young women, a societal category I belong to. VI is flirty but without any overt sensuality. It’s a soft, dreamy scent and a very innocent vision of what it means to be “irresistible.” That’s okay, though. Not every scent needs to be come-hither. I’m sure that lots of people enjoy this scent. Heck, I did too when I wore it. I just wish it had a little extra spark. As it is, I won’t be buying a bottle of VI but I don’t regret wearing it at all.

When I first sprayed it on, it felt too heavy, kinda like some night-time only fragrance. But then it settles down on my skin, and you can feel the floral notes. It's perfect for me. Perfect balance between the adult scent without being 40 years or older feeling. I'm 23 and i comfortably wear it.

it's about roses but even more...dunno what it is, maybe a mix of spices an roses. for it's more sexy than romantic.
a scent for young women in their twenties, romantic and rocky at the same time. it's very intense and long lasting on my skin, i use it rather careful. it has been my fav scent for a long time, although i really dislike the bottle design....!
but had to experience, that i must be into rose scents...i always thought i don't like flowery scents.

I actually like this even though, this may not be something for me. (I don't like most flowery perfumes)

At first Givenchy Very Irresistible is a bit heady, but then the flower slowly makes place for the fresh-warm anise smell. I know no fragrance like it, it just keeps getting fresher and fresher while still delicious. I can see this as a Unisex scent. Its surprising and it sort of makes me happy.

Really worth a try!
