Aqua Allegoria Ylang & Vanille (1999)

There's not a whole lot to write about this. The composition is a lot more 'Ylang' than it is 'Vanille', and I think the fragrance would have been better if the proportions were reversed. Ylang itself is fairly sweet, but the composition itself doesn't go overboard with sweetness... it could be much worse (and I was anticipating worse from the reviews). AAYV is particularly feminine compared to some of the other Aqua Allegorias. It would make a nice casual day fragrance, but it's not nearly as enjoyable as some of the other AAs (like Pampelune or Angelique Lilas).

I love it, absolutey love it. For all the things alot of people mention that they do not like about it - I think it makes it all the more spectacular. Simple and great.

I'm no "nose", but I knows what I like and this ain't it! Bought it by mail order, fully expecting to love it, ylang and vanilla - what's to go wrong? It's sweet and nasty. Think the ylang in this is brutal. I can't bring myself to wear it and wouldn't dream of inflicting it on someone else but the miser in me won't throw it away. Maybe I'll water it down and use it as a dustbin freshener.

It is ylang, and it is a warm-ish vanilla. Pleasant to wear, feels comfortable all day and is polite enough not to overpower you, but there's not a single thing about it that's breaking new ground.

I have yet to find one of the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria lines that I have really cared for. This one isn't too bad, but a little too smoky overkill in the vanilla. Dear hubbie didn't like this one either. Too mainstream.
