I bought this on line earlier this year, completely sight unseen (unsmelt!) to bring my order up to a point for free shipping. What a delightful surprise. Violets are a childhood memory and this perfume gives me that plus something more seductive and mysterious. I love it to death and it is perfect for a hot summer day. Someone thinks its like a Jo Malone fragrance? I'll have to check that out. 15 November 2009

Violets, soapy & sweet! Les Meteorites is one fragrance that should have never been discontinued. Smells like I just stepped out of a luxurious bubble bath. Timeless, ageless, feminine, demure yet confident. Although it's been discontinued, you can still find some bottles here and there at a reasonable price. 17 June 2009

Unfortunately, I am not a fan of Les Meteorites. I think it was designed for a woman in her 40's or 50's. There is something synthetic I smell in it, and a bit too much powder. Even so, it still is quite unique and interesting. It might be the lily of the valley I like, and the musty smell I do not. Nice, but too old for me! 08 February 2009

I got a sample of this from a lovely woman as an extra and this had made it pretty clear to me violet is not a note that makes me go gaga for more. It's light and fresh and just not impressive enough for me to hunt down a bottle, it reminds me vaguely of Champs Elysees because of the fresh and lightness. I havent bought that one either and if Meteorites was easily available I wouldn't buy it either. Not bad. not great 29 October 2008

Starts with violets and raspberries, but the berry fades off very quickly. Much more linear than, say, Apres'L Ondee, which is pretty linear itself. Really in the end it's a basic green violet scent on my skin, very much like Devon Violets, the old standby. 12 October 2008

I tried it when it first came out and never thought it would be discontinued! I bought the little jar of Les Meteorites shimmer cream, and EVERYONE commented on the smell of it. I didn't get around to buying the fragrance, and TOTALLY REGRET IT!! I even emailed Guerlain and asked if they had any left I could buy and they replied (alas) - "non". Guerlain re-released Meteorites balls (powder) and I was praying they would do the same with the fragrance. Les Meteorites, to me, conjures up the scent of a well-bred woman. Clean, powdery, and just gorgeous! I always felt luxurious when I wore the scented shimmer cream. I would do anything to have Les Meteorites resurected!!!! 10 June 2007

I think of this as L'Heure Bleue's younger sister – if the former is full-bodied, sophisticated and sensual, Météorites is more on the sassier, fresher, simpler and brighter side of violet and iris. Think of Cathérine Deneuve in the Umbrellas of Cherbourg compared to Belle du Jour! Whereas I would never dream of layering L'HB, M works very well with other less complex Guerlain scents, such as the colognes and some of the citrusy Aqua Allegorias. On me, it smells of slightly powdery (suitably, considering it is originally the scent of Guerlain makeup), sugared violets, I can detect a hint of vanilla and the heliotrope is almost heady if applied generously. The staying power is not particularly brilliant. I remember falling in love with it while sniffing my mother's friends Météorites jar when I was a kid! 26 January 2007

This a modestly sweet and lovely violet with the Guerlinade base. It's perfect for hot, humid days when heavier scents would be, well, gross. It's also a good choice for people who don't like their florals very sweet or in-your-face. Even my perfume-loathing family approved of this one. 10 January 2007

A 1940s kind of fragrance that is captivating. The violets are subtle and not at all cloying. The balance of violet, heliotrope and iris has an old-world sophistication that runs the risk of quaintness (think Sunday School teacher) or blowzy (think trailer park hottie) if used too heavily. A little dab here and there is all you need. 09 January 2007

I am so gosh-darned envious of those who can smell violets. I didn't even know violets had a scent until I began reading about perfumes. I attribute a certain imaginery scent to them, based on the flowers' appearance, but it exists only in my mind. Thus, Les Meteorites proved completely meaningless for me. [She laments.] 26 October 2006

A lovely fragrance that goes everywhere & is noticed without being overbearing. This is my 'go to' scent when I know I'm going to be in a meeting or with new people. It isn't over the top sexy, it is just fresh and lightly sweet, but it has something special. You can still find it here and there. 26 September 2006

A lovely, tame violet that is reminiscent of lightly scented face powder or lipstick. Personally, I adore these scents. Meteorites is one of the nicest, least assertive violets I've sniffed to date. I do wish it had a little more lasting power and/or sillage; then again, perhaps my nose has grown used to the scent and I just don't notice it anymore... Nevertheless, I love my violets, and I simply adore Guerlain's Meteorites. 31 August 2006

Beautiful fragrance. Very nostalgic; reminds me of the old fashioned powdery-violet perfumes. Long-lasting in a subtle way. 08 February 2006

Violets don't work for me and this is just too loaded with violet and turns rather, well, musty on me. Takemyhusbandplz said it best. Surprisingly strong and powdery in the drydown. 15 January 2006

A pretty and sugary-sweet, slightly powdery violet and iris accord. A youthful and extremely feminine fragrance - as pretty as they come. 14 January 2006

I was really wanting to love this scent. The violet turns really sweet and musty on me. For some reason this is a very hard scent for me to pick up the actual notes. Violet I know & iris perhaps? If in fact there is iris, that could explain Meteorites turning on me. On the plus side this was very long lasting on my skin with pretty good sillage. An as usual Guerlain created a pretty little bottle for this scent. 23 November 2005

A limited edition EDT released by the House of Guerlain in 2000, Meteorites is a shower of violets on a powdery base. It has the same “Guerlinade” accord that mark the fragrances from the House of Guerlain, but in Meteorites that accord is very subdued. This is a very feminine floral, sweet but not cloying or trite. A shame it’s been discontinued. It’s just plain PRETTY, so while there's still a limited stock out there, go smell it . 01 August 2005
