the first time i smelled this perfume, i just about swooned. not one to be taken in so completely by florals-i'm more of an arab/oriental oil user-- this left no doubt in my mind that i was a convert. the peony and wet green leaves are what i smell most upon that first spray that later dries down to a cedar and musk. if you have smelled D & G's Light Blue, it is reminiscent of eclat, but in an immature impulsive unpolished way. Eclat is a contradiction; full bodied yet light enough to spray a couple of times and not be overwhelmed; a universal appealing floral, sophisticated and mature yet an 18 year old could it wear as well as an 50 year old career woman at the top of her game. Eclat takes it time to develop; the peony at the beginning blends sharp with the greens but comes down really sensuous and soft with the musk. And people notice. Every time i wear this, it never fails to get a "what are you wearing?" from both men and women. One of my top five fragrances. 05 October 2008

I agree with Tovah in that Eclat d Arpege is along the lines of Scent of Peace and Light Blue... but the first association I made was Bvlgari's Omnia Crystalline. A transparent blend of flowers, wood and musk ~ light and refreshing. I adore Arpege, and this version comes accross very youthful and modern ~ extremely wearable! 01 August 2008

Every woman should invest in this beautifully transparent, yet sensual, fragrance. This is what a sexy, sophisticated, young woman should be wearing during the day. This and Annick Goutal's Songes are my two favorite scents to smell on a woman. Nuff said. 19 May 2008

I love this scent....first time smelling this on a woman i was enamored.....subtle yet overwhelmingly sensual.....enjoyed it so much that I had to buy a bottle for myself and now wear it with pride.....mind you i am a heterosexual male. The odd thing is that it gets great responses from females and not just males(as you would think would be the intent of the fragrance). I love the cedar and amber musk with floral notes that dominate this frgarance after the initial citrus, airy blast.... 12 May 2008

The best female scent ever made. I've recommended this scent to every girl I know. 26 April 2008

Very nice perfume, I had to buy this one. it is a Floral - Fruity type of scent. It is one of my husband’s favorite women’s perfumes. It smells a lot like Versace metal jeans for women so if you like one of them you will like the other, although the Versace one has a stronger scent. My mom loves this perfume and I’m going to get it for her as a gift. 22 April 2008

Very light, delicately floral. The opening green is quite light in projection -- I really don’t get much out of the opening except those delicately sheer florals and greens with a slight citrus tinge. The middle, like the top is very light in delivery, but it shows more presence to me. The green tea is quite sure and clean—very pleasant. I can identify the peony note clearly, and I think I can identify the peach blossom note. The strange thing is that I never find the lilac in the mix. These notes are refined and proportioned and their translucency is quite captivating. The base, like the top and the heart, is also an exercise in discretion: it presents a well-balanced amber and musk to my nose—a bit more musk than amber, but quite sweet. I get only a background shadow of cedar. The base is my favorite part of the fragrance -- so gently, sweetly warm, it is really quite impressive. Éclat d’Arpège is a beautifully transparent, delicately feminine presentation. It is excellently put together, and, although I don’t find any single accord or note in it that grabs me, I can admire it for its refinement and translucence. I’m voting a confident thumbs’ up for this fine feminine beauty. Very good longevity. 09 March 2008

Oh how I wish this one was around when I got married. It would be a perfect wedding day scent. Eclat d'aprege is the ultimate feminine, bright, refreshing, uplifting perfume. To me, it blows Vera Wang right out of the water. Notes of lemon leaves and lilac blend beautifully into florals of wisteria and orange blossom. A very slight cedar drydown rounds it off perfectly. It's gorgeous. The lilac- colored liquid and the beautiful rendering of mother-and-daughter on the bottle make it perfect for bottle collectors as well as those who love the juice inside. This fragrance can be purchased relatively inexpensively on discount sites, so it's more than worth every penny. If you enjoy scents like Bond No. 9 Scent of Peace and D & G Light Blue, you will certainly love Eclat d'arpege. 01 November 2007

It's nice, but, yes, doesn't last at all, and it wasn't distinctive enough for me to want to wear it regularly. Maybe a nice summer day scent. 26 April 2007

Way too girly and floral for this old rock chic. Possibly the lilac that makes me feel slightly nauseous when I wear this. Longevity is also very poor. Lovely bottle, shame about the potion. 04 April 2007

I feel so utterly beautiful when I wear this. I layer it with shower gel, body lotion then spray on the perfume. I actually travelled to Montreal from Toronto just to buy it as Ogilvy's was the only place in Canada I could find it three years ago. 24 January 2007

I love Eclat d'Arpege, because it's different from many other perfumes. I used for many years Kenzo ( the first one), couldn't buy it anymore and then had to find a good alternative.I tried Gaultier, Shalimar, Opium, Tresor, Flower, l'Instant, Organza and many others. Then I discovered Eclat, wasn't immediately in love with it and tried J'adore but couldn't forget Eclat.Bought a little bottle of it in Hong Kong and fell in love. It makes you feel special and sophisticated, it's a perfume that tells her own story on your skin and although very popular it's still a little bit exclusive. Sweet and silent but not too sweet, and when you smell it even after a long working-day you feel like standing under a beautiful lilactree in spring while it is raining softly. 08 October 2006

As it was released earlier, it clears the question of who copied. I find that the 2005 Moschino Cheap&Chic I love love is very very similar to Eclat. Doesn't make me cry, for both are gorgeous clear musky florals with green citrucy note on top.Eclat is slightly lilac, and ILL is more grapefruit. 15 March 2006

I am not so sure about the top notes as they might be almost metallic. it might be the lemon. But stay with it for a couple of minutes (on the skin) and then the quality of it all develops and blossoms and the beauty of it it's blinding. A very full and floral heart and it's sensual with out ever being tacky, it's luminous and shimmery and please stay for the base notes and the soft musks and the amber and the white cedar will just caress you.The longevity is very good. I have the eau de parfum so this review is related to that one. I hope this one becomes more famous! I love also both the original and the reformulated versions of Arpège. 10 December 2005

The middle notes of peony & cedar with just the faintest dab of melon were beautiful. Certainly if the middle notes lasted I would purchase a bottle of this. The other down side is Eclat drys down and goes away quickly. D&G's Light Blue does seem a bit similar, tho Light Blue lasts much longer on the skin. As the last reviewer said Light Blue is a bit of a heavier scent, but personally I prefer a heavier scent. 04 December 2005

Released in 2003 by the House of Lanvin, Eclat d’Arpege was designed with the modern woman in mind. The boule bottle is back in action with Eclat, and the color of the fragrance is an incredibly gorgeous lavender color. Eclat d'Arpege opens with a sparkle of zesty, effervescent lilac leaves and Sicilian lemon leaves. Its heart is rounded out with green tea, wisteria, peach blossoms, red peony, and Chinese osmanthus, while cedar of Lebanon, musk and amber fuel the total mélange. Eclat is light and floral from beginning to end; some of its opening notes may remind one of D&G's Lt Blue, but whereas Lt Blue goes through a transformation from light to heavy, Eclat retains its delightful demeanor throughout; it's a true soprano. Some complain that the notes of Eclat are fleeting; apply some of the Eclat perfumed body lotion before applying the fragrance, and it will anchor the EDP. Ethereal. Feminine. Bright and cheery as a clear spring day. 03 August 2005
