Initiation by Molyneux is named an Oriental Floral fragrance for women. Initiation was launched in 1990. I sampled the eau de parfum.
Top notes are aldehydes, gardenia, mandarin orange, peach, bergamot and brazilian rosewood; middle notes are carnation, tuberose, jasmine, heliotrope, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley, rose and narcissus; base notes are honey, amber, patchouli, coconut, civet, oakmoss and vetiver.
This smells quite old-fashioned to me in a very good way. To my nose, it is more a chypre than an oriental and takes me back to the great chypres of the forties and fifties. It has a good deal in common with the Louis Scherrers numbers one and two.
It's a shame it is discontinued. Still available however on Amazon and Ebay, while it lasts.
