It has a very robust, powdery scent. If you have problems with florals smelling like industrial cleaner on you, this scent may surprise you by mellowing out with a beautiful, spicy undertone. 27 June 2009

eeeeeew! i'm so sorry to be scathing to a drug store classic...but the top notes smelled like eau de grandma and the drydown was a wet diaper. 02 May 2009

Gahh I really like Charlie. It's so easy to wear and I think it lifts my spirit. The smell is a bit dry and spicy (thanks to carnation), sweet, but it doesn't feel heavy. With such an affordable price and few wearers where I come from, it's a thumbs up for me. 15 October 2008

When i was a child one of my mothers friend, a showy lady when compared to my mom, used to wear it. Then she gifted a bottle to my mom and i thought it was a treasure about being showy. Everyone did not wear it here; it was produced so far away and goverment did not used to let luxury things like perfumes to be imported by then. Now i bought one online as it is not still on sale here. It is even nicer than i remembered. A powdery aldehydic jasmine; very wearable after so many years. With the musk base shares the same trick with alien, infusion d'iris. the flower changes sambac iris and jasmine but aldehyde to musk or amber has something common. A proved to be successful template. Of course charlie does not have the shining quality of the other two. Any way charlie is showy and sexy. In many instances cheaper dresses are more sexy than the designer ones. 16 August 2008

I was not a fan of this fragrance. It was a little over-powering with a bit of a chemical/metal smell. I have smelled this on so many women without knowing they were wearing this scent. It is definitely a scent that is still popular with a lot of women. Please do everyone else a favor and do not over do it if you choose to wear this scent. 10 August 2008

This is my grandmother's signature scent. She is 86, and I am 32, and I think it works equally well on both of us. Charlie is a seamless scent- it has good persistance and it stays true all day. The only quibble I have with it is the "Blue" incarnation. It smells slightly different than the original- my grandma had an old bottle of the original that got tucked away half-used in a cabinet, and when I compared it to a bottle of "Blue", the original seemed slightly warmer and deeper, with a slightly spicier drydown. Perhaps that is due to age, but the effect is generally more pleasing. A perfume that reminds me of Charlie is Nautica woman, which has that same seamlessness, and a touch more persitance than the "Blue". 21 July 2008
