Vendetta (1991)

Quite a complex fragrance – there are notes occurring all over the place in this one. It opens with aldehydes, bergamot, green, floral, and fruity – and each element is discernible. I find the top notes quite full, a little exotic, and not all that attractive, because there is a green note in there that bothers me a bit along with the orchid note from the middle, which immediately makes itself apparent to my nose. The middle is a mixed floral which lacks the differentiation of the top, and I find it rather amorphous – not bad, but it is nothing out of the ordinary, except for that orchid note that I dislike. I can’t select out the rose or orris or carnation, but the tuberose, jasmine, and honey are there, doing their thing. The base is quiet and rather good in its quiet sort of way. The amber is the strongest element to my nose with just a touch of the other accords, but the whole base comes off as rich but discreet. I think this is a very nice fragrance, but my problem with it is that I detect one or two of those notes that seem to bother only me.
