Top notes are aldehydes, orange blossom, jasmine, ylang-ylang, bergamot and lemon; middle notes are narcissus, lilac, orris root, hiacynth, cloves, ylang-ylang, rose and narcissus; base notes are sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, musk, violet, oakmoss, vetiver and incense. It does seem that the best ideas in life are the simplest. Je Reviens seems to confirm this theory, with its simple concept of creating an aldehydic, floral accord then providing the momentum to maintain it through to the end. The additional notes merely bolster what has already been achieved, and if anything, this gets richer and smoother with every passing hour. I am lead to believe by people who have been using this for decades that this is significantly inferior to the version sold until the late sixties, and if that is true, I can only imagine what a wonderful treasure that vintage fragrance must be, 05 August 2009

I bought a .5 oz. bottle of Je Reviens parfum blind. There was no place to test it around here. Too bad because I wouldn't have bought it if I'd tried it first. It's made in England now, by the way, or that's what the box says. I was a bit disappointed because I wore this in the 70's when it was still nice. This bottle is ok - I don't know which year's reformulated version it is, that all gets so confusing. I don't smell violet, but maybe I do, violets tricky for me. I get the spicy, sweet, narcotic narcissus and the vetiver, the rest is all a jumble to my nose (as I'm not good at picking out notes). I will use this bottle up eventually. It isn't awful. It's just not as nice as it once was, like comparing grocery store tomatoes in winter to the memory of home grown heritage ones last summer. It's pleasant but thin, something lacking in base where it should spread out. I'll probably try the more recent Couture version. If I don't like that one, then I'll give up. I might as well have gone for the $12 edt and put it in the fridge as recommended below! 07 July 2009

This is the only perfume that I opened it and used the entire bottle without a break. Perfectly balanced for me. Wore it everywhere, without hesitation. 20 January 2009

this is in fact clean and crisp, and well done, but to me, it reminds me of furniture polish (in fact it is a bot woody, but not in a dark way, plus some powder and flowers). I understand it is a classic but i can't wear it, no matter what. 27 August 2008

Aldehydic / floral opening which carries a lot of presence: This is certainly not a modern fragrance — but it’s a classic. I agree that for a while it is reminiscent of Channel No. 5, but that feeling didn’t last long in me. Because of the strong violet (which I dislike) the fragrance seems more simplistic and linear than it probably is. Within twenty minutes, the stronger original accords subsided, along with the intensity of the aldehydes; the fragrance has become an extremely pleasant floral bouquet. There’s lots of powder in the drydown along with a well-done sandalwood and a substantial moss. The drydown is delicate and refined and quite long lasting. Je Reviens has all the characteristics of a classic. It is a well-made fragrance but my dislike of violet makes my vote a neutral. 22 August 2008

I bought this as a cologne when I was 15 and hoped that the quality of the light, etheral and certainly not corporal scent would signify that I was a young woman of quality myself. The opening notes faded quickly but the base scent held true for hours. I would wear it again if I wanted to remember but not necesarily to be remembered. The competition these days wields a heavier blow than little Je Reviens. 06 August 2008

I have edt of it, which i can only get aldehydes from it. The powdery clean heart of it reminds me one of the early baby wipes. Then comes the powdery synthetic jasmine which would be nice alone. But it is hard to forget the baby wipes and feel attractive in this scent for me. 28 July 2008

Lovely! I should be way too young to wear this, but I was so excited to spot the seablue box in a local discount drugstore (I've never ever seen it in South Africa) that I bought it unsniffed, and I'm not sorry at all. I cannot tolerate lots of aldehydes, but there's no problem with them here (although I should mention, this is the EDT natural spray). I get mostly jasmine, which fades to powdery, powdery, soapy violet-ey cleanliness. I wish SO HARD that it was not this light, ethereal thing I can hardly smell after an hour, though! Oh how I wish for the EDP! And I'm certainly going to try the keep-in-fridge trick next summer! Yeah, maybe the longevity will be better in the heat, too, it's chilly winter now. All in all: please, dear owners of Worth, keep this around and send all the variants to South Africa pronto!! 09 June 2008

A total classic. And totally timeless. Different from any other fragrance on the market, yet subdued and comforting: the kind of scent that brings a smile to the wearer and her ambiance. Not overtly sexy, but sensual, and one of those perfumes that one can remember just by thinking about it. Good for all ages, but works best with the mature and sophisticated. Might work for some men, but use caution. 16 May 2008

My wife has the EdT and it smells wonderful on her. Clean, fresh crisp, warm, sunshine in a lightly wooded area to me, violets are blooming, and all this from a low-cost bottle of toilet water purchased at the drugstore. Marvelous! 12 May 2008

Before testing Je Reviens, I really had to make myself not negatively prejudge it. The juice (parfum, I believe) I was given to test was, after all, an intense shade of bluish-green reminiscent of crčme de menthe and looked quite unappealing. I even wondered if it would stain my skin (it did not, by the way). But, I decided to dab it on and was pleasantly surprised. Je Reviens is a very light scent and I could detect notes of jasmine, bergamot and violet as well as a bit of clean hay, all of which really never changed as the fragrance dried down. Je Reviens reminded me of something a 14 year old girl in Missouri would have worn in the early 1920’s, wearing a starched white eyelet dress and demurely reading in the parlor on a Sunday afternoon. As I kept smelling it, I also thought how glad women back in the 1930’s (Je Reviens was created in 1932) must have been to have such a pleasant, easy-to-wear scent available as an antidote to the more aggressive scents of the time such as Dana’s “Tabu” and Coty’s “Chypre de Coty”. 10 April 2008

I did not know this fragrance years ago when it was "about" and have only discovered it in EDT very lately. I find it lovely but almost too soft. I need to try EDP or P when I can find it. It is going to be one of my favourites after all this time. Very Lovely. 19 December 2007

This timeless perfume smells good on every body I think, it has no notes that could possibly be called offensive, I wear it and my mother wore it when I was young and living in a hot mediterranean country it truly is a cooling summer smell it is supremely refreshing, but don't be fooled, it is also mysterious, and extremely sexy, men seem to love it and it suits a lot of different types of women or men for that matter a bit like Eau de Cartier in unisexness. I own vintage and new ....the vintage has far more depth and character as the new uses synthetic ingredients and you can tell. The smell dose not linger on me unless I layer with the body wash and body moisturizer, although I can get more millage from my vintage bottle, a must for anyone starting a fragrance collection. 14 December 2007

This is my favorite all time scent. I, alas, am allergic to many. My best friend, who also has allergies, and I discovered that we both wore this as our primary scent and have remained faithful to it for decades. This way when we are together we don't make each other sneeze and tear. But we wear it because it is lovely. Really. And alluring. And enveloping. And it is blue, the color of the ultramarine bottle it comes in. As Shakespeare said of the deep blue heavens, "this majestical roof fretted with golden fire' (2.2.299- 301). ...it is a truly rhapsodic, heavenly scent. But beware, it is all together different in the EDT or cologne, which I find abhorrent. So invest in the real thing. The perfume is round, seasonless, floral, sweet and crepuscular. And like dusk it doesn't last long but it is well worth it (forgive the bad pun please,)to be enjoyed for as long as it remains. If you like L'Heure Bleue and Iris Poudre or L'Eau d'Hiver you will adore this classic elegant scent. And men do love it... 08 December 2007

I adore this fragrance!! A friend of mine from high school used to wear it (some 25 years ago..) and I always felt it didn't smell as nice on my skin. But if I stick to the parfum rather than the EDT, it does work for me. Earthy but feminine, sensual, haunting. Never to be forgotten! 02 November 2007

I have worn this perfume on and off for thirty years. I am one of those people who sees colors with scents or music. This perfume has always been blue to me It is wet and cool. It is not like a creek but has depth like a lake. There is something very liquid and lush about it. It also has a light sparkly element to it like sunlight glittering on the surface of the water. This scent somehow manages to be full and fluid yet crisp and bright at the same time. It is one of my all time favorites and completely different from any other perfume that I have ever found! 15 October 2007

This is probably the warmest, softest fragrance that any house has ever created. It is absolute perfection. I never tire of this fragrance. The EDT spray is "OK," but if you want the real thing, try to find the EDT, Parfum or Extrait, which I have not seen for years. The very, very best was the bath oil, which leaves you in this literaly skin deep in this subtle fragrance from head to toe. I wish they would bring that back...it was probably the sexiest thing any woman could ever possibly wear! 15 February 2007

I was introduced to this perfume by a man.which I thought was unusual.A friend of mine was wearing it and I thought it was a bit odd for a man to go on and like that'particularlt because he wasn't atracted to her,.That has happened sevweral times since, so I bought some and fell i love! In addition to being perfectly composed, it is delcious and beautiful. I do get lots of complements whenever i wear it, but i wear itwhen i am alone so i won't lool silly sniffing my arm all of the time! It is trulyone of the world's great perfumes. 24 December 2006

I have been wearing Je Reviens by Worth for over 35 years. During this time, I have tried other fragrences and, time after time, find they are not me. Je Revien is elegant and timeless because it is not too heavy or too light or too sweet or too spicy. This is my scent... As a professional woman: Je Reviens is light and warm (at the same time); yet the fragrence is not the type that makes the people around me want to take a step back because it overpowers them!! As a romantic woman: I'll be honest, when I was younger, more than 1 man approached me and asked... 'What is that perfume you are wearing?' As a mother: last thing I want to smell like is 1 of those women who wears perfume that smells ohhh.. sticky sweet or flowery or like a man who just shaved !! As a wife: he would buy me the perfume I'm wearing AND knew enough to only buy me... Je Reviens by Worth 05 November 2006

Quirky and fun and elegant all at once. Let us hope -- and let the religious folks among us pray -- that Worth never discontinues this classic. 29 September 2006

I just tried Je Reviens EDT for the first time, and while there's no mistaking this for a modern floral aldehyde (it evokes an earlier era), it does have a timeless quality. To my nose, it's a more "complete" version of Chanel No. 5 (which smells jagged and unfinished on me). An interesting study in contrasts: warm and cool, floral and spicy, with a powdery aura that drifts over the entire drydown. A special occasion scent, in my view. I'm curious to try the EDP and parfum. 11 April 2006

Worth lists Je Reviens fragrance notes as: Top notes of Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Ylang Ylang, Aldehydic notes. Heart notes of Jonquil and Narcissus. Smooth base of Amber, Violet, Sandalwood, Vetiver and Musk. Today, this remains the only female fragrance currently in production by this design house. Created in 1932, it has withstood the test of time! Absolutely fresh and powdery! On me it dries down very soapy. Violet is one of those quirky notes ~ it is very finicky as to who can actually wear it well ~ but in this particular formulation, it is extremely friendly! There is also an undercurrent of spice which comes off very smooth. For some reason, my nose keeps catching cardamom! This definitely brings my spirit into summer, and I think it would be very wearable by men as well. The modern bottle doesn't impress me as much as the art deco style original...but it is unique. 04 April 2006

This scent named like tha sailboat from Daphe de Maurier's novel "Rebecca" is just sheer perfection on female skin. I love this smell on women due to its timeless perfection and accomplished balance between light floral notes and heavier Oriental ones. 24 January 2006

Today recieved a fabulous gift of a vintage Eau De Cologne "Je Revins" 500ml bottle, complete with a quantity of perfume. Bottle has glass stopper with W in the glass. Original blue box. Has been owned by someone who kept it in the box after each use. Perfume is still beautiful, a warm protecting motherly hug fragrance. No hint of rancidity. Such a treasure. Is this a 1932 launch? Round flat bottle. 16 January 2006

Aaah - this fragrance, in EDT form, is so supremely refreshing on the hottest of hot summer days, like a dusting of iced powder. The aldehydes in Je Reviens are of the light and sparkling variety and really set off the fragrance's cool violet and clean orange blossom topnotes - all three the hallmarks of this venerated Worth fragrance, as are the spices that balance out the base of the scent. Clove, amber, incense - they don't sound like the kinds of notes you'd want for inclusion in a light summer fragrance, but somehow they work here in wonderful harmony with, rather than contrast to, the fresh top of the composition. (Again, this is in the EDT formulation, and it's quite possible - probable even - that the EDP and parfum strengths place heavier accents on the fragrance's floral heart notes and spicy base.) That being said, for a special treat the next time the thermometer's spiking into the 90s, get yourself some Je Reviens, chill it in the fridge for a few horus and then spritz liberally for an elegant refreshment like no other. 25 August 2005
