Reviews of Ode à l'Amour ![]() sashapoppy United StatesShow all reviews | I actually like this fragrance and for awhile it was my favorite (and my husbands). It is very sweet with definate plum notes, but the sweetness is tempered by cedar accords. I think its more appropriate for younger women. 12nd November, 2011. |
![]() Off-Scenter Show all reviews | It looks pink, it smells pink. This blatantly chemical fruity floral concoction is pretty much a room air freshener you can wear. Don’t bother. 6th January, 2010. |
![]() lilybelle United StatesShow all reviews | Yep, it's a very sweet and fruity vanillic floriental. I can't separate the listed notes either, except for the vanilla. I like it. It's uncomplicated, friendly, and easy to wear - if you like syrupy sweet scents, that is, and I do lately in the winter weather, very much. I like that it comes in a stoppered splash bottle, though the color is little girl Barbie pink, which I don't care for. I've always been a purple girl, not pink. ;-) The stopper is an asymmetrical smooth pink pebble. Hmmm...what else? It just smells like a fruit cocktail, and it's fun to wear scents like this. Something in the base is reminding me of YR's Rose Absolu. 4th February, 2009. |
![]() blackfairy Show all reviews | This one is way too sweet - and not in a good way. It smells so terrible that it is almost unique. I recieved this horror from my aunt 5 years ago and the bottle is still full. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. 27th November, 2008. |

But after trying it on my skin I realized it made me feel physically sick. Too overpowering, too sickly sweet, the strenght of amber clashed violently with overripe fruits such as cassis or mirabelle plum making this concoction unbearable. It leaves a rancid drydown -even the cap smells bad, definitely a no-no. 20th October, 2006. |
| themeglet United StatesShow all reviews | No. Just.... no. This was just a bad idea from the get-go. Someone in the YR offices must have come in one day after a long night of drinking, and managed to convince his superior (who was also recovering from a night o' frothy brew) that the company should try to do their own version of Giorgio BH's Red, but with the added notes of crowded high-school-gymn, subway-in-summer, and vomitous teenager, with a hint of marigold to make it a little more "perfumey." The description from the YR web site: "Fruity Amber, Mirabelle Plum, Currant Blossom, Damason Plum, Ylang-Ylang, Amber, Cistus, Sandalwood." Even now, as I sit here forcing myself to smell and re-smell this over and over and over (to be fair), I can honestly say that I do not get *any* of these notes... not a single one. Fortunately, the bottle designers made the brilliant decision to design a bottle that lies on its side... Did we miss day one of "fragrance bottle design 101"? I must live with the constant fear that this beast will leak. (Is it possible that I can dislike any fragrance more than Red?) 17th May, 2006. |
