Basenotes says...
Unlike most fragrances, where the notes dry down using the traditional pyramid structure, Allure is different. According to Chanel it is "Multi Faceted" and "cut like a diamond with 6 facets which overlap, with no single note dominating". The EDP was launched three years after the EDT

Fabulous fragrance! Complex and very feminine, with great staying power- I ran out of it awhile ago, but gladly give myself a spritz whenever I see a tester bottle- 02 June 2009

I like the smell of the EDP, but sadly, like most Jacques Polges fragrances, including Mademoiselle and Coco, it tends to give me a bad headache. The problem is that I'm prone to migraines, and this one is a deifnite trigger. I think the main culprit is the bourbon vanilla. But the smell and "allure" of this fragrance, objectively speaking, is very good: it's a sophisticated scent, with both timeless and modern appeal. It also has great sillage; and while a linear fragrance, it does adjust to the chemistry of the wearer to produce her own nuanced and unique scent. I envy those who can wear it. I wish I could. 21 February 2009

Definitely not unisex, this classic. The rose, jasmine and citrus spice notes jump immediately on application, then quickly step back to allow emergence of the very bourbony vanilla tones, all blending into an enduring fragrance. When in a crowd, people don't notice it, but become aware of it, and then seek its source -- hence the "allure". A blond, lighter skin may indulge a heavier application without over doing it, whereas a darker complexion will broadcast subtle oriental tones that waft through the area in a light subtle manner. Without woodier oriental spice I would not characterize it as a seductress, but as a "touch of royalty". To me, this is "special occasion" parfum for evening, The scent is serious, not playful. 09 January 2009

Allure EdP is a perfume with the same magic as Chanel No 19, at least on my skin! It is absolutley perfect, very wellbalansed and always right to wear! It is really longlasting, too! The really fun is that this is a quiet fraganse on my skin, still notable for very many hours. I might have found my secound Holy Grael, my first is No 19! The bodylotion and deo of Allure EdP are also wonderful! It seems like I am a Chanel girl! 26 November 2008

I have been using Allure for years. I started with the EDT when my mother gave me a bottle for Christmas about ten years ago. Since then I've been hooked. It is one of my staples. Though I try other perfumes, I always make sure I have a bottle of this on my dresser. I live in a country with very warm and humid climate and I find that this is one of those perfumes that smell better in the afternoon (a number of men said so), after it took some time reacting with the skin and a little perspiration. I sometimes spray it on before going to bed because I especially love the way it smells in the morning after it has ripened during the night. 18 October 2008

This is definitely a classy scent. I don't know if having this from Chanel makes me think that way, but I have always thought that this is a very good composition. Everything is so very well balanced.. Not too much flower, not too much vanilla, not too much citron.. It changes a lot from start to dry down and I enjoy smelling every note in it during the day.. I strictly recommend EDP which is leaves a great and not overpowering vanilla smell behind.. I will always keep one bottle of Allure in my collection.. 04 September 2008
