Basenotes says...

Lavande Velours is part of Guerlain's "Aqua Allegoria" fragrance collection. Although aimed at women, some of the fragrances in the range can be considered unisex. The range are designed to be reminiscent of garden walks. They are light like colognes but are longer lasting like an EDT.

This is one of my very favorite lavender colognes. I love lavender with the addition of a violet note over a sandalwood base. It's very lovely. I only wish lavender was more universally desired so my favorite lavender fragrances would stop being discontinued due to lack of profit.

What a pity it is discontiued! I treasure one full bottle of it and have to find another. THE perfect fragrance for hot days. At first lavender - which I love, by the way - is very expansive, but soon it gets softened by the violet-iris sweet juiciness. Altogether it gives the impression of a freshly cut cucumber, a REAL cucumber, not the chemical perfumer's shop one. I know some who dislike Lavande Velours. They are the ones who love the colorful chemical junk passing off as perfumes. I have a gardenful of lavender around my house - and I learned to appreciate the complexity of its aroma!

Lavande Velours starts out as a fairly straightforward lavender, but soon develops into a more complex scent whose floral notes make themselves "heard". This scent's allure is more intellectual than visceral. For those who appreciate an intriguing scent, and do not merely want to smell good (although you will!), this is a winner.

I usually don't like wearing lavender fragrances but I love Lavande Velours. Even though it's supposed to be light and refreshing, I find it to be rather complex and interesting, (in addition to being light and refreshing). This is the only lavender fragrance I've ever purchased and I really, really enjoy it.

Lavende Velours in my opinion smells just like Yardley's Lavender hand soap. This would be better suited as a linen spray, laundry water or a drawer sachet scent. This isn't something I want my skin to smell like.

This is a most extraordinary fragrance. It's surprisingly complex in development, going from a bright initial blast of lavender through the lavender and woody notes like a beautiful tune. On my skin it's very slightly spicy. Absolutely delicious, what a shame they've discontinued it!
