Basi Homme (2001)

This was a blind purchase (a tester) and I am really glad I decided to try it. To my nose, this is Jacomo de Jacomo "junior" with a non-linear progression and a few nice wrinkles up to drydown. Jacomo de Jacomo in the black bottle is dominated by cloves, and I like that too; but if you are put off by the strength of the cloves in Jacomo, you might be more pleased with this.

The scent ingredients pyramid is not shown for this offering on the Basenotes site, so we are left to guess...but Basi Homme in the rounded-off square bottle seems to have a sort of lemony-clove start, changing to a Kenneth Cole RSVP wood-with-clove middle, and a soft sweetness with a hint of clove during the close-to-the-skin drydown.

I personally find this very enjoyable in its several progressions -- I wish it had greater longevity, but if it had longevity, it would probably be Jacomo de Jacomo....

Reminds me of other musky ambery scents like Burberry, Animale and Atman. Sweet and vanillic, it's the same ol' same ol'.

Such a great fragrance!! Fragrance doesn't get much better than this. I love tis one and am thoroughly enjoying my bottle and when asked what I'm wearing I'm tempted to tell guys it's Hi Karate or British Sterling (lol). I love the fragrance from the top notes to bottom notes and purchased it without smelling based on reviews and normally don't do that but was so pleasantly surprised with it when I opened the bottle. Thank you Armand Basi.

One of my favorites for men; my boyfriend smells wonderful when he wears this. Well balanced, refined, and sexy! As a woman, I'm tired of smelling all of the "fresh, aquatic" fragrances that have flooded the market for the past decade. They're pleasant enough, but have no sex appeal. Basi Homme gives that in abundance. I'm looking forward to smelling the original, and the women's version, too. Well done!

I bought this blind (it was on sale at £9.95). The packaging is novel with a large translucent cube holding the smooth edged black bottle inside.. A dark bottle for a nightime scent. Theres something about this that keeps me coming back for more. I haven't a clue what the notes are and the Basi website isn't any help. Fresh out of the bottle its quite alarming and seems to me rather citrussy. This settles very quickly and gives way to a sweet smell with smoky undertones. It reminds me a little of the original Ted Lapidus (the Grey Bottle). The dry down does remain close to the skin as already mentioned but I feel that works for what is in my humble opinion a fragrance ment to be enjoyed up close and personal. A bargain buy for me and heartily reccomended for somebody who likes an individual fragrance that you won't smell everywhere!

I just love the black bottle!
This warm scent is absolutely delightful - very masculine yet mellow and perfumy. It goes into the same direction as Minotaure, but it is more refined and more elegant.
