Reviews of Bay Rum

I love the smell of Bay Rum—have used various brands for years, so I was pleased when I found Bay Rum in pack of samples that Trumper’s sent to me. Well, Thank you for the thought, Mr. Trumper, but no thank you for the fragrance. I am totally turned off. To my nose this should not be called “Bay Rum”—it should be called “Cloves.” They tell me that there is bay rum in the opening—you can’t prove it by me, all I can smell is clove. Aromatically powerful cloves—I mean that these must be Superman’s cloves. It doesn’t help me that cloves just happen to be my least favorite spice note. I can take clove as it is used in most fragrances—very lightly. But this is primarily a clove / bay rum accord which is very linear, and instead of being classically structured, simply gets weaker and weaker until it fizzles out—but not soon enough for me.
