This is a good one and is really affordable. I first tried this one back in about 2002 and liked it even back then as a teenager so this one can be tried by the younger crowd as well as those much older. Read the other reviews for more details since I'm just here to give this one a thumbs up.

Yes, I could smell this everywhere for awhile and frankly, in some ways, I find it more nauseating than a sweet fragrance like Pi (which I very much admire). What Aqua di Gio is to floral/citrus, this scent is to oriental, a kind of teetering between sincere wood/spice and yes annoying fruit/mint notes, just like a car salesman, who also, when the moment is right, turns on the charm and tries to be somewhat "seductive."

For those who would like to try a cheaper alternative, go to Pathmark and check out Storm Force, a $6 after shave definitely inspired by Burberry. Some may like it better.

2 reviews in one? No, I would never do that.

quite a fan of burberry's for its light hearted approach to scents and yet very unique smelling. nothing fantastic, but very wearable. compared to the rest of the burberry male range, the original is the heaviest scent. this along with Touch and Weekend made it into my collection. if u need something that has a better longevity, then dont bother w the rest of the burbs. this is by far the heaviest( tho by normal standards, it doesnt really stand out). nice and sweet. try it first, its not worth to do a blind buy, but its pretty affordable, would make a good gift

I purchased this one a year ago but had only used it twice. To my nose it always smelled like some very dry lemon and honey concoction. I purchased it because of how different and unique it smelled, especially compared to all of the cookie-cutter scents out there. It's also an older, more mature "classic-type" scent, and I didn't own any of those.

So I wore this twice with no problems. And then something happened the other day. I wore this to work, only a couple of sprays as usual. A few hours into the day, this scent started becoming overbearing to my nose. I was very aware that I was wearing it, and it started making me nauseous. It even took on a different scent, and smelled more like burnt pencil shavings, which was just disgusting. I'm not sure of the exact cause for this, perhaps I had an allergic reaction to it, or perhaps my body chemistry changed within the past year, or it could even be the new soap that I am using. Whatever it is, I absolutely cannot wear this fragrance anymore. Even the thought of spraying this on myself makes me a little queasy.

Gonna have to give it the thumbs down considering it's the only fragrance that has almost made me vomit. :P

Sweet woods. I get a huge tonka bean note in this like in Dunhill Desire for a Man. I like this and think this would work much better in the colder months. THe scent just bounces around too much in the heat.

Burberry for Men is a fresh and distinctive woody foral which successfully represents the brands heritage of tradition and understated luxury. An excellent example of enduring British style.

It smells sharp w a tint of oriental medicated oil in it. Not sweet, not fresh, just has a weird smell for me.

I don't understand alot of the negative feedback for this one. It starts with a sharp mix of floral and fruit notes and dries down to become a very smooth musky, deep and brooding fragrance. I think of a somewhat port or wine like note comes out in it as well. I feel this is a very good alternative to those that don't care for Burberry London, given that on my skin London turns into a huge cloying sour brick wall.

I came across this by accident, it was being sold as Burberry London and I thought I was buying the 2005 one... how wrong I was... =(

Anyways, this smelled distinctly like old men. If I were to imagine an old white man (in his 60/70's), this is exactly what I think he would smell like.

I picture myself walking down a bustling city sidewalk full of people in winter. With a heavy formal coat on, w/ my neck wrapped in a plaid scarf.
This sent is pure winter wonderland. Very sophisticated and classy, very winter.

This was one of the first fragrances my brother bought, when my father stopped giving us the same Azzaro bottle all the years.

At my brother's home I tested it on a paper. At the first spray it felt classic, mainly lavender, but quickly a note of mint gave it a fresh and younger sensation. Also with mint, some notes of bergamot and other fruits could be felt. At middle notes, the same notes above continues, but sandalwood and cedar appears. At base notes, notes of tonka beans and amber are present.

Classical and a bit sweet, but with a hint of fresh minty note. Suitable for all seasons, although the tonka beans, amber and the sweet notes makes it more suitable for colder seasons. For daytime and office use, for over 25 years old men.

There are definitely lots of greens in the opening. Renato says mint: I think so, too, and there’s also juniper. There’s also bergamot with those greens, but the whole accord is quite thin and sparse. The opening has a definite aromatic bent to it from the juniper, mint, and Artemisia, and it is unnecessarily sharp. Its sharpness reminds me of the cologny auras of some of the 60’s colognes…that is not good. There’s a restrained fruitiness in the opening that doesn’t seem to sweeten the sharpness. I sort of wonder why the fruit notes are there if not to sweeten things up—the only thing they accomplish is…they annoy me. This is an unsatisfactory opening — one that I never would have tolerated if I hadn’t done a blind purchase of this fragrance. The piercing aromatic / green sharpness continues into the middle level and proceeds to olfactorily disrupt the middle florals and woods. The base is non descript and even my love for civet doesn’t help me appreciate it because I can’t discover the civet through the residue sharpness of the opening. This is an altogether disappointing fragrance for me.

I just think this stuff is wonderful. It dies down on my skin very quick (within 20-30 minutes). I suppose they would say it's close to the skin, but it's not weak.. it's just that element where you can't smell it from a few feet away, but once you're close THERE it is. It smells very sweet on my skin, almost creamy, so it must be the vanilla. Thing is, I don't like smell of vanilla, so it blends very well with the other notes. There's something in the midnotes that is slightly awkward, but it's hardly recognizable. I'd say put it on 30 minutes before arriving. You're going to feel confident with this scent on, but you aren't going to overpower anybody. And if you end up getting close to someone special, they're going to be drawn in by that sweet musky scent.

To THINK that the stuffed shirts at Burberry's would discontinue the perfect (spicy, masculine, original) Burberry's for Men and market instead this bland tripe without which no car salesman in Des Moines would be complete.

Go figure.

Burberry London really reechy & stinky. similary to Eternity (Calvin Klein) & Safari (Ralph Lauren).
all fragrances by Burberry is ghastly. I hate it all.

The Burberry I'm thinking of came out in 97, I believe, under the name burberry, in a yellow bottle with a silver cap. I think it smells like bug spray. But in a good way. Maybe it's the pine and mint and especially the lavender (which always smells medicianal to me, since we had some mosqito repellent with lavander when I was a kid.) All in all, it's the perfect blend of sharp sweet scent with heavy woodsy base. My personal favorate.

Well, I've read all the other reviews and am a bit nonplussed. This is plainly and unambiguously a minty scent to my nose, yet no one else appears to see it that way. I like the scent, but don't often feel compelled to wear it. However, I was amazed that my ladyfriend was totally wrapped in it, and thought it one of my best.

In the same vein of Claiborne Spark and Marc Jacobs. Not distinctive enough to make it a great scent (although I like it more than those two). Reminds me of old furniture — perhaps mahogany?

Lovely soft fruity floral. More fruity in my opinion than floral - like a Hanae Mori for women minus the almond and softened consderably. I enjoy the aroma but it doesn't last terribly long.

This is a great fragrance. Peach and Bergamot start off the fragrance with mint and musk coming in at the end. This is the first cologne I have reviewed for this site and it's appropriate as this is one of my favorites.

A horrible synthetic and cloying nightmare of over ripe pears fermenting in gigantic vats of honey as some wild animal releases it's musk glands in a toxic cloud floating over the whole regretable affair. I smelled this on another person and loved it, and I tried so hard to like it when I bought it but I admit defeat. London, I leave you to the chavs.

While unique, it also seems a bit boring to me. To me, the scent smells great somedays, but can smell pretty synthetic to me, and at times reminds me of being sick for some reason. However, the smell seems to fit nicely on a cool, foggy, rainy day.

A classy, modern, and surprisingly unique scent that I consider as a timeless classic. It's the masterful combination of woods moss and musk that kinda reminds me of a new tweed jacket with leather trim at the elbows and pockets. I really don't think that it's gotten enough praise that it truly deserves. Not many fougere scents nowadays, wish there were more to balance out the rash of fresh and aquatics out there.

This is a pretty basic and, well, rather unoriginal fragrance. London starts with citrus and dries down to a sweet woody base. My biggest issue with London is that everything just kind of blends together into this ‘blah’ kind of fragrance. It smells pretty synthetic, and doesn’t really inspire or evoke any type of response at all. It’s just there.

This one is sure to be one of my signature scents this fall! It's smooth, mellow sweetness is such a pleasure to the senses! The fruity and vanilla notes blend really well together, kind of like a skin smoothie :). Another bonus: its longevity is AWESOME! This one is a must-have for cooler weather!

This scent reminds me of warm gingerbread cookies in wintertime... but I don't know why: as far as I know, there's not any ginger in it.

Unique. No other cologne smells like Burberry London. Wear it lightly and without leather accesories or you might stink. This is for a casual walk on the beach and not while playing basketball. I have been proudly wearing this since it first came out in 1995.

I really love the top note, it's very refreshing, also sweet but minty and cool scent:) It also lasts fairly long. It's such a casual scent that you would want to wear all the time. Not heavy either~!

Fantastique! The one scent I have which truly brings out the tobacco. Another one of those scents where I find it lasts longer and longer the more times I use it.
I find this scent puts me at ease, even though it is almost a formal scent. The pears give up some sweetness, but this is not the Xeryus Rouge/Pi/Desire sweetness. Imagine pears cooking in honey... The tobacco seems to temper the sweetness. Eventually the pears fade and the tobacco note takes center stage with a touch of sweetness.

A great fragrance. A staple in a mans cologne chest (or wherever he keeps the stuff). This is to be worn under a clean undershirt and fine cotton shirt. When you perspire it releases oozles of refined alluring female attracting things...

This is a simple, but great aromatic fougere scent, great for the spring and fall. Warm and kind of fruity, the tobacco/amber note is very nice and gives it depth.
