Did Cachrel with their seminal offering - Pour L'homme; release a scent with one of the most realistic note of Nutmeg...? i'm still in awe of this scent..by the way it executed this note. i would like to believe that they used the natural essense ..but i could be so wrong. is this a aroma chemical...? coz it doesnt smell like one..Basically, i love the smell of nutmeg but, never got a chance to experience it so clearly/explicitly as in this Cachrel release. if you have ever sniffed a jar full of nutmeg and i mean 100's of em..then, it's easy. Pour L'Homme smells "just" like that. 18 August 2009

One of the first frags I ever enthused over. The zesty opening is beautiful, and I love the spicy heart (nutmeg and clove). To my mind this is an absolute classic! 13 July 2009

A fine oriental spice. This is the winner of the warm fuzzy category. Merry Christmas. 19 June 2009

back in the 80´s after my love affair with Fahrenheit I found a new love and that was Cacharel. It was pure citrus and incense. Being a catholic, the first thing that came to my mind (when I test it) was "church", it smelled very much like the incense burn in church. It was also a long lasting fragrance. Sophisticated yet not very loud. It has some notes of vetiver at the end of its life. Today, I find some similarities with Acqua di Parma. A true classic that I keep buying over and over. 09 September 2008

A bit spicy, with nutmeg and the clove overtones of carnation in the heart on a woody-musky base, with opening notes of lavender and citrus. I suppose this all makes a kind of fougère, though with vetiver standing in for a coumarin note and no oakmoss in evidence at all. I like this for its slightly sharp, fresh character. It is satisfying and has decent projection, sillage, and longevity. This is the perfect everyday scent, frank and open, plain-spoken and naturally winsome just as it is. 03 June 2008

An exceptional yet often-overlooked gem! Cacharel Pour L'Homme is one of the "keepers" from the 80s. Where scents from that decade are often described as loud and excessive - CPL is a remarkably well-balanced understated scent. The opening is very opulent and shimmers with zestful citrus played off against soft lavender. Carnation and (my beloved) Geranium lend an appealing dustiness to the heart. Nutmeg is also a prominent accord, although one might say that the sum of all these individual notes sometimes suggests the presence of clove alongside the nutmeg. The base is a sublime blend of woods where the cedar and vetiver prevail. This is a fragrance that deserves attention, and there is something distinctly cosy and familiar about it. Though worn relatively close to the skin, L'Homme has remarkable staying power and an overall quality that draws others around you in, to indulge their senses. Can be worn day or night and at any time of year. It comes alive in both warm and cool weather, where different nuances shift to the fore. Glorious. 20 April 2008

The story goes like this: You are at your grandfather’s house. You are bored… and than you notice grandfather’s “old days memories” box. You’re thinking “yeah… why not?”. You’re opening it… and what do you find there? Some old photos, turned yellow letters, half torn documents and… a scent. Well, it is a huge possibility that the scent you found smells like (and even looks like) Cacharel pour Homme. It is old-fashioned, but somehow dear and agreeable, at least to me. Cacharel pour Homme is based on “the axis” lavender-clove. It has very good longevity, but stays close to the skin all the time. It isn’t a compliment collector and certainly not an up-to-date one. It won’t shout from your skin “hey, notice me, I’m an egocentric scent!”; but try it anyway, you won’t regret. I didn’t. Some scents are made to live just for a while; some are made to live forever. 03 April 2008

I love it from the first note till last. Spice could have been less. End notes are wonderful. Less is more for this one. Best on skin, works wonders in winter and summer. 19 December 2007

One of my favorite scents is OSCAR by O. de la Renta. And yes, it is because of the Nutmeg. And what a surprise to discover that Pour L'Homme came out almost 20 years before Oscar!!!! Either way, Oscar copied Cacharel, they both achieve that overwhelming but delightful nutmeg, though through diefferent ways and means (I think Oscar does it better though, but major respect to Cacharel for accomplishing that back in the day!) If you are not into colognes that have an edible spice predominant throughout the dry down, then skip this one. Otherwise, go for it, unless you already have Oscar. I foyu do like/love nutmeg, don't miss out on Azzaro's VISIT, another one of my favorites. 19 June 2007

Cacharel is a very pleasant and light mix of Floral and spices. It doesn't seem to change at all from application to drydown, yet that isn't a bad thing, because it smells wonderful. I really have never found anything else like it. Difficult to describe, and VERY unique. A must have. ;) 21 May 2007

Upon first spray, Cacharel Pour L'Homme seems to almost disappoint. With such enthusiasm for it here on basenotes, one wonders if there must have been a mistake. That is because Cacharel opens with an almost linear nutmeg note, which makes one think "Is that it?" to this fragrance. But it is not until the midnotes that that overbearing nutmeg note begins to subside, and the beautiful subtle, spicy florals emerges giving Cacharel pour L'Homme an almost unmatched masculine elegance to it, before revealing it's spicy woody base. Though the nutmeg in Cacharel never fully disappears, it is in the drydown were Cacharel's balanced beauty is displayed. If I could have two improvement for it it would be for one: the overwhelming beginning nutmeg to be tempered, and two: for it to last as long as it should. 08 April 2007

A really wonderful fragrance. Long ago I was working with a young woman in New York City, and she was pretty blase about everything. One day I wore Cacherel and she gave me a look that I will never forget. I asked her if she liked it and she lowered her eyes and said, "Oh yeah..." I don't know much about notes, but it's a unique scent that can warm a heart or two. It's really good. 03 April 2007

What a great scent. There IS a predominant smell of nutmeg throughout, but it really grows on you. Longevity is only average but I have had comments of smelling 'fresh' and different. One of my favourites and indeed a classic. 19 December 2006

This is my favorite of them all. I still remember when I first smelled it...southern Spain. There was never another scent that had such an impact on me. One moment I was sampling it, then it was mine. This is definitely one cologne that you can wear and never worry that anyone is going to smell like you. (At least here in the states.) My wife loves it. Nothing comes close. Completely masculine, mysterious, sensual and spicy, yet clean. Cacharel is a classic. 12 November 2006

Happiness is unwrapping your freshly arrived bottle of Cacharel EdT pour L'Homme, a 30ml edition limitée in a beautiful silver and greyish-blue box that contains the even more beautiful bottle that contains an even more beautiful fragrance. Ah, it's even better than the miniature, which was pretty much reduced to a (beautiful) nutmeg note, this here is evidently in perfect condition, so I get the wonderfully fresh citrus opening which transmutes into that incredible nutmeg extravaganza, I can even sense the florals doing the backing vocals. God, this nutmeg could just go on forever (I confess I am a sucker for all those Chistmas goodies), but the gentle drydown into relaxing woods, like a soft-focused, impressionistic complement to Bois du Portugal, the spicy nutmeg still lingering, is just as satisfying and a wonderful conclusion to this journey. Wonderful, unique, exactly the kind of experience I'm into this whole fragrance thing for. Cacharel pour L'Homme, the warm glow of comfort, soothing body and soul. I'm adding the fifth star now. 19 October 2006

An exceptionally harmonious, refined and sensual blend of citrus, spices and wood that would suit equally well a romantic youth, a pleasure seeker and a confident mature man. There are quite a few other offerings in the same olfactory category but none that would match the subtle silky finesse of Cacharel. 11 September 2006

don't even get me started on this one. untill i tried it i used to think m7 is unique. well it's not..sadly enough. i still love m7, but this one is extraordinary. i'm not sure about it's longevity, i think the tester might have been off (the fragrance being this old, it's almost forgotten, such ashame!), but then again, m7 doesn't excell in that area either! all my love to cacharel for nemo and for this classic 11 May 2006

There is something sharp and green in the citrus opening that at first seems discordant but later melds into the citrus and spices in an incredibly beautiful way. Oh, how excellent is that accord within ten minutes of application. The end of the top notes is signified by an emergent strong, pure nutmeg (mace) note as the florals of the middle are summoned join in. The florals do not project much to my nose—the nutmeg overwhelms the whole middle activity. But as the movement reaches the basenotes, the magic returns: The now demure nutmeg combines with the woods to bring another creative and fulfilling accord. The nutmeg motif makes this almost linear IMO. I find Cacharel quite masculine on my skin especially because my skin seems to destroy the floral notes. Cacharel stays close—there is not very much sillage going on even though it is a full, rich scent. Longevity is a problem with this one, though. 24 February 2006

An overlooked gem. While I do think the nutmeg comes on a little strong at first, it blends nicely with a dry woods smell during the dry down to create a truly elegant smell. Inexpensive but still well suited to formal events. 07 November 2005

The definition of elegance and understated masculinity. The spicy, woody and floral notes complement each other in this complex blend that only a few, classy men wear these days. 29 September 2005

Citrus-flowers-wood. Since my skin is an unpredictable citrus-killer, for the first time after spraying it smells like peppery gouache paint (is it that double ylang?), then massive woods take their roots... Perfect evening scent. Very elegant. One of the best mens flower-based perfumes. Highly recommended. 30 June 2003

Deep, sensual, spicy perfume with notes of ylang-ylang in the middle notes, which is not very typical for men's colognes. But the exotica of ylang flowers is pretty much subdued here with a classic combination of lavender, nutmeg, cedar and sandalwood. I personally detect a note of absynthe in it. Better suited for the colder seasons, great for the office if the amount is right. 01 December 2002
