As has been said, this starts off sharp green and a bit "soapy." Within an hour or two it softens up and becomes a "skin musk" type of frag (depends upon how much you use). It doesn't have a "cheap drugstore" smell to me, just very sharp. I really don't like "green" frags and I hate the geranium/sandalwood combination, as is the case here, so it's hard for me to say how this compares to other, similar frags, because I try to avoid them. For the price, though, it seems to be a good buy for those who seek this kind of frag and want to keep the costs down. I guess the chain connected to it is a "conversation piece," at no extra charge. LOL.

Why the chain? Chaleur d’Animale opens with a green / citrus / herbal accord that is sharp to the point of seeming cheap – it’s that thin, piercing, meaningless sharpness that inhabits so many of the drugstore fragrances. It does settle down to a more acceptable sharpness as it moves into the middle accords of spice and florals – sharp but okay. This middle is not especially endearing, it’s not strongly either floral or spicy but it is a nice green that has a non-offending sort of way about it. The base doesn’t change much from what went before, except that it becomes woodier – a sort of Ehhh woodiness. I don’t really think of Chaleur d’Animale as being strongly sweet; I think its sweetness is kept well under control. It is not very challenging nor is it very unique. It’s okay, but, why the chain?

one of the worst green scents ever. very sharp and strong. smells like dog vomit and burning hay. terrible that's why it's so cheap. i got a used bottle on ebay for 7 bucks and that was too much. definately a repulsive and nasty scent here guys.

This is good stuff. It starts out very close to Drakkar Noir/Gucci Nobile/Jivago Connect but then it transitions to a sweeter Dior Fahrenheit, the overall effect very similar to Paul Smith for men (clear green bottle) but much smoother and stronger. From then it transitions slightly to a clean fresh but warm scent constantly rewarding your nostrils. It stays close to the skin and is perfect for snuggling in cooler weather. Works well in the summer too for an energetic night. Considering the price, it is a must have. Just excellence, all the way round.

A mossy, green scent with perhaps an air of aquatic-ness to it.. It's synthetic, but in a not so jarringly repulsive way. Oddly cooling on the skin, must be the ingredients. Not bad but not great, either.

I just picked this up for $9.99 at TJMaxx. It begins bright and complex. However, one of my co-workers just walked by and remarked, "It smells like laundry in here."

And she is right, it does smell like laundry. So whatever is nice on top turns to Tide very quickly.Nice and clean . . .

I still love this stuff. It is so very fresh and clean. Not at all my usual type. the cardamom, nutmeg, cumin give it just a bit of edge.

A green scent...by that I mean this smells like: cut grass, hay, green tea, etc. Of course it drys down and changes over time and is by no means bad, but that is the general scent direction. Similar in many ways to Mat; Male (2002).

I picked this out of a a handful of scents in a "blind" trial. All others were better known - Givenchy, Perry Ellis, Bvlgari and YSL products. Worth a try and dirt cheap.
