Chanel Pour Monsiuer Concentrate is probably one of the most underrated fragrance ever. it ozzes class and packs lotsa punch and variety in a chamaleon like quality. What appears to be a coriander based opening accords with a lush backdrop of citruses and green; soon morphs into a eerie white smoke derived from spices giving it a very powdery approach. the mid accords is gritty and refiend at the same time. It settles to a lovely base of clean & sweet vetiver with hints of opoponax (which would remind one faintly of Lagerfeld classic.) it's like this scent gets stronger with each passing hour. especially till it reaches basenotes. it's mid accords is one of finest eg. of what a fine perfume is supposed to do. which is? which is, it should be able to memerise it's wearer with it's sheer nature and it's element of surprise. it took me 15 wears to finally "understand" this fragrance. The trick was, i sprayed some 8-10 sprays. mostly on chest and arms.
in other words, it's a spicy green scent which is tranparent yet, smoky with an incense like feel. powdery to the core in the most elegant way with hints of vetiver and the classic touch of opoponax. it doesnt smell anything like the original, except for it;s green character. this ones much more full bodied and direct and opposed ot the classic which is thinner and much more restrained.

Sorry to be a naysayer on this one, but the best I can say is that I found it somewhat less boring than Dunhill Edition. There are finer citrus frags. There are finer " gentlemen " frags. Jacques Polge may deserve The Nobel Prize for chemistry but this one's unspectacular. I won't compare it to the original Chanel PM which so many of you assure me is the last word in elegance, since I haven't had the pleasure. Reading the notes it appears that the concentree version has a vanilla base, for whatever that's worth

Very lovely fragrance indeed although it is not very strong or long-lasting. The citrus opening is debonair and well-rounded. The middle notes are a tad animalic for my taste, but the base is musk, vanilla, and amber, which lends to a very soft, refined feel. Upon first application there is an antispetic note, possibly anise, that quickly softens and gives way to nice, elegant, and delicate fragrance. I find Monsieur Concentree to be similar to Mouchoir de Monsieur and Jicky without all the wonders of animal excrement they embody.

For those looking for similarities between Chanel pour Monsieur Concentree (C) and Chanel pour Monsieur (ChPM), let me say they are very different.

Both are leather chypres, ChPM is a sound creature of its times: gentler, subtler, I would even say denoting class because of an eau de cologne character that is absent from C - a common attribute in many men's fragrances before spicy / woody / animalic notes proper of women's scents were to be popularized among offerings targetted to the opposite sex; take, ie. Cabochard, 1959 and its male counterpart, Aramis, 1965, and compare it with Eau Sauvage, 1966.

Thus, C is pungent, harder, still gentlemanly but not as classy as the original, something that does not affect it at all in terms of its attractiveness.

Besides, Mr. Polge did a perfect job twice, on the shape of Chanel pour Monsieur Concentree and that of Tiffany for men. Both were launched in 1989, and both share many notes in common: unfortunately, I can not make a hand-in-hand comparisson, but judging from memory, I do not find many differences between both.

This is definately what I would call a "gentleman's fragrance". Not as in old, but in mature, sophisticated and wordly. I'm ashamed to say that when I first tried this, I didn't like it due to the opening blast and probably because I had just smelled 10 other colognes. Recently when I was looking to add another cologne I thought of the other reviews I read here (btw one of the very few colognes to have only 2 negative comments) and decided to sample it again. This time it smelled much better to me. After making the mistake of choosing Fuel For Life instead, I immediately took that back and grabbed this.

The lavender note in this one is far more toned down than FFL, intelligently blended with vetiver & vanilla for a soft but masculine scent. Don't be fooled though, this is very strong and long lasting. 4 or 5 sprays is the max you should ever apply. Even when wearing out in the heat & humidity it perseveres. This is the third Chanel fragrance I've owned and each one has been excellent. You can't go wrong with masters of fine fragrance. I echo the comments of others that this is one that needs no hype or ad campaigns, those in the know will own it.

I give it a thumbs up!!! PM & Anteaus are my 2 favorite Chanel fragrances. I normally don't like a lot of vanilla in any Cologne.
I'll make an exeption w/ PM. I can understand all the positive remarks on this. I give it a Thumbs up!!!!

I was looking for a special scent for my wedding and tried this. I was given a very big sample that she sprayed in a plastic bottle. I wore it for a few hours and couldn't wait to wash it off. So many good reviews, don't see it at all. Smells like my mom would wear it. But I like fast food also what do I know ( :

This is an elegant scent that emits an aura of warmth about it. Yet, it is very fresh. I love it. It starts out strong, but somehow disappears before I know it. I really wish it had a more of a transformation, but it still gets a thumbs up.

This is the ideal scent for any dressed-up occasion. It's a special scent, I wouldn't use it everyday, even though I have 3 bottles.

This fragrance, for me, inhabits a world apart. Both modern and classical, enfolded in its sophisticated construction seems a summary of the history of male fragrance. It’s Alan Rickman reading a sonnet. Never shouting, it smoothly unfolds, from a cultivated lavender smile, through a breathless cardamom aria, to opoponax, vanilla, and natural oakmoss. It grows slowly but never precipitously deeper, with enchanting nuance, calm, and distinction. Perfection at last? No, but pretty close. Polge’s flair for combining masculinity and class rarely fails.

Beautiful opening. I love the lavender in this and I usually shy away from that note. Can't tell if I am smelling petitgrain, but the lavender and citrus is just short of outstanding.

Nutmeg in the heart is perfectly balanced. I cannot wear a frag with too much nutmeg or clove, but this is on the money. The vetiver and vanilla slowly make an appearance and linger close to the skin.

This is a classic bomb. To me, it exudes class and restrained sensuality.

Brilliant, classy, understated. Starts weird with boring-citrusy top notes, then turns to (the typical channel-type) herbal, "coconuty", smokey note, steady from middle to base. Very long lasting, yet favourably with average sillage (hence will not annoy the people around you). As if this and Antaeus were both made to be the male versions of the No 5 and Coco female lines. Something prevents me from buying this before finishing my Tea-for-Two bottle (probably due to the similarly in the smoky sweetness !!).

Unlike Luca Turin, I find this to be a five star fragrance. I think the reason some people are turned off by this scent is that they are looking for a longer lasting version of the original PM. I do feel that this has much in common with the original in its opening blast of citrus, but it very quickly turns to a rich and deep oriental. For people looking for the Chypre/after-shave smelling original I can understand their disappointment. Perhaps Chanel would have been smarter by just renaming this juice all together to avoid the confusion.

PHC is in my top 10 men's orientals right next to Nicolai's New York. The blend is perfect. It's extremely long lasting and the sillage is perfect: not to far and not too close to the skin. It works best in the evenings, but I have been known to walk through a thin mist in the morning before work and let everyone get a vague sniff of something extraordinary!

First of all, let me just say that Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentrée has been savaged by the same people who insist that Platinum Egoiste is garbage while the original Egoiste and the non-concentrée Pour Monsieur are flawless. I'm not knocking Egoiste or Pour Monsieur-- they're really great, it's true. But so are Platinum Egoiste and Pour Monsieur Concentrée.

I was at a fragrance counter buying Egoiste Platinum and I happened to test Pour Monsieur Concentrée. I was instantly struck by it. I knew I'd be back for a bottle of it, and sure enough I came back the next day to get one. It has a fresh burst of classical style citrus bolstered by a big cardamom note that reminds me a bit of Prada Amber Homme's. What's instantly appealing is that the sweetness is almost a milky, coconutty, cotton candy web that wraps so tenderly around the bundle of citrus and spices. It tapers down to a flawlessly tailored base of vetiver and moss. The overall effect is almost like a soft tobacco warmth and a pastel purple freshness. The orchestration of vanilla and spice in this is extremely sophisticated. It has a semi-dry sweetness that never goes south... and a spicy oriental quality that never goes east.

This is a formal scent that is quite versatile. I wouldn't wear it with a t-shirt and jeans, but it would go with anything from a nice casual button down dress shirt all the way to a tux with ease. I've received several nice compliments from women on this one and that doesn't surprise me. This one is truly great and easy to wear. Nothing but high marks.

Deep freshness of warm lavender and spices with a supple vanilla and vetiver accord boosted by opoponax (which I usually loathe to smell). An evening scent. Classy.

This fragrance is so subtle and seamless that its excellence is easy to overlook. In the face of so many ouotlandish fresh and fruity scents of the moment, a classic like this one glides along under the radar. It is a refined crisp fragrance woven of several notes that create a very pleasing chord of a distinctive woven chypre texture of lemon, warm spice and a sueded moss. The finish is the best part of Pour Monsieur Concentree. Has a formal, finished attitude. Very nice.

This fragrance is one of those perfumes that has lost out to the endless trendy marketing of Calvin Klien, Eau D'Issey etc etc. It stands removed from all that in your face explosive top note nonsense.

It is far longer lasting than the regular Pour Monsieur. Concentree is a mark of sophistication. An easy to wear, incredibly flattering aroma, that's bound to be appreciated by anyone lucky enough to get close enough... And I speak from experience.

This perfume exudes sensuality. It is powerful, sweet, warm and very long lasting. The nutmeg and the woody notes stand out. I would never use it during the day, but it is perfect for the night, specially if you are looking for an adventure or if you want to seduce your girlfriend/boyfriend with a new weapon.

I first smelled the original sometime around 1970 or so. I was only 16 at the time and while visiting my aunt and uncle once, I was using my uncle's bathroom to shower and shave. I opened up the vanity mirror and there was a bottle of Chanel's PM. I took a whiff and fell in love with it. I remember it having a very classy and an understated elegance about it. I imagine the concentrated version of it will be more of the same and I can't wait to try a bottle of it soon. I love citrusy openings with a slight, powdery/vanilla drydown in fragrances.

Chanel's finest fragrance for men. There's nothing else that smells like this. It's slightly green, slightly orange, and slightly vanilla....making it the coldest vanilla fragrance available. It's difficult to conceive of a cold vanilla, but this one really is, and yet, Pour Monsieur is still a very sexy fragrance.

A little less powedery, longer lasting and slightly greener smelling. A wonderful fragrance for the sophisticated, perhaps older gentleman. A great improvement on the original as that had slight sillage and little lasting power. If only I could find a bottle at a discount...(not on your nelly, this is Chanel...)

I used to get samples of these when I was a younger fragrance enthusiast, one of those which just smelled too sophisticated for a kid that wore polos and corduroys with flip-flops mostly all the time.

A few age brackets later, I retry the juice and marvel at its understated complexity. It starts off very tonic like, with a very strong note of lavender which eases into its heart notes of cardamom and nutmeg, slightly spicy, but not overly so to compromise its reserved understated elegance. Oakmoss comes through and you have arrived at its full beauty. You feel like a respectable gentleman who's more discerning all the while carrying a discreet sensuality about you.

THIS IS A NOT VERY KNOWN FRAGRANCE OF THE CHANEL LINE EVEN THOUGH ITS A GREAT ONE.IN FACT IT COULD BE USED AS A FORMAL OR A DAYTIME SCENT.VERY DIFFERENT FROM ITS OLDER BROTHER CHANEL POUR MONSIEUR .IN FACT CONCENTREE IS RICHER , MORE POWREFUL AND VERY LONG LASTING.I CONSIDER IT A HIDDEN MASTERPIECE WAITING FOR THE PERFUME LOVERS TO DISCOVER IT.

A sexy man's fragrance from the late 80s. A little too overtly sensual for me these days. Although I like it, and the notes are intriguing, I think it tries just a little too hard to impress. Wouldn't wear it to work; and in the evening my intentions would be a little too overtly signaled. I'd like a little more mystery.

Wow, what a great scent. This is one of the colognes that got me started on cologne. It's bold, loud, sophisticated, and delicious. People who say it's dated are the same ones saying JHL is a classic (NOT dated) scent. I prefer to call this a classic, and everywhere I wear it, the verdict is the same "WOW, you smell soooo good! What is that cologne?" Guys might give you a weird eye for standing out so much, but you got to love it. It is a great citrus/Chyrpe, and I find it one of the main three colognes in my wardrobe.

This has to be one of the best fragrances I've owned. When I first smelled it, I kind of thought "old man," but after an hours worth or so of sniffing the scent card I began to realize the power of this stuff and had to get it. I've never tried the straight, non-concentree Pour Monsieur so I can't give a comparison, but this stuff is extremely long lasting with a great dry down. The top notes are very lemony but not in a obnoxiousway, drying down to a unique, sweetish scent. Definitely a great change of pace from, say, the Acqua di Gios of the world, but it's not as if this hasn't been said over and over before. Oh, and this scent can work for younger guys, I'm 18 and I get compliments on it all the time from my peers...and let's not lie, it's a great pick-me-up to just smell it on yourself.

Sorry guys but, for me, this is the worst Chanel men’s fragrance currently on the market. It smells sooooo dated it’s unbelievable.

For those who haven’t tried Chanel, I’d advise you to try the others first.

Probably my favorite fragrance of all time. I started wearing this one when I was a kid and then lost touch with it after my last bottle ran out when I was about 18. Four or five years later, I was given another bottle and expected that I would have moved on from it and wouldn’t like it anymore (after all, when I was a teen I also like things like RL Polo and CK Eternity and these days these fragrances make my nose hurt). I was surprised to find that I still liked Pour Monsieur just as much. Subtle, soft, but still distinctive, it is one of those rare fragrances that are suitable almost anytime, day or night. It is sophisticated, fresh, and timeless. I’m amazed it isn’t more popular but I’m sad that it never goes on sale.

Depending on your individual style this can definately work as a younger man's fragrance. I wear it on days when I want a boost of confidence - quiet, calm, subtle confidence. It just simply smells good and has a soothing quality. Its polite and will never raise its voice at you. Its like being at the race-track on a sunny day, betting on your prize winning Arabian steed.

This great stuff!! It's multi-faceted and complex. This one is one of those “for me” fragrance, as it's a real treat to smell it through out the day. I'm 26 and I've used it since I was 15.
Its definitely not like the original which was more citrus and not as exciting. The Concentree is spicier, sweeter and more complex. I do believe that in 1995 when they re-launched it and decided the phase out the regular one, the Concentree formula changed a little. It was more rich and intense...although what is out there today is still as good and actually blends better with the skin. I will say that its not a club, or “modern” fragrance but its truly a master piece. Just think “cosmopolitan/beer for a club” and “red wine on a nice date or dinner”. Last all day on me and the varies stages of the dry down compares to how much better wine gets after the first glass:-)

Jack Polge did it again. A contemporary fragrance with a classic twist. Pour Monsieur of the new era, true to the original, yet distinct without being tampered on.

A somewhat different take on the classic PM. It is indeed stronger as the name suggests, but not with great longevity unfortunately. It feels more modern, but not edgy in anyway. Main difference is a clear added note of nutmeg & something smelling slightly like coconut. More interesting than the original and with the badly needed extra strength (Pour Monsieur lasts approximately 15 minutes on me).

Not much to be said that hasn't been covered other than my newbie opinion. A truely classy scent, mature. Probably not the best for the boardroom as it is somewhat demure and slightly sweet. It lasts a while on my skin. More classy and refined, more elegant than Egoiste Platinum.

I got this by mistake. I had originally bought the travel spray of Pour Monsieur EDT, but the bottle was defective (when I pushed on the top, the whole thing came out of it's sheath). I exchanged it, but wanted the bottle instead and got the concentree version by mistake. It definitely is different, but on me, it smells stronger and lasts longer than the original EDT. It is more lemony in the beginning, and then gives a sharper woody smell as it dries down. It is very nice, I am not complaining. I also disagree that it is an older gentleman's cologne. I am in my twenties, and I find that a good fragrance is a good fragrance, no matter what the age (or gender, if you are open to wearing colognes designed for the opposite sex). I find this very suitable for office, weekend, or evening wear. Despite being stronger than the original, it is still quite subtle.

PMC is a stuffy and gentlemanly citrus fragrance. I agree that this is a rather formal fragrance, or better suited for some one that dresses formally on a regular basis. Despite the citrus notes in this fragrance, I don’t find it works very well in the summer. This is a very well mannered, yet stuffy, citrus fragrances that seems to exude confidence.

Not as good as the original. To the untrained nose, its just like the original, but stronger. However upon closer inspection, the drydown is too vanilla-sweet to the point of being sickly. Not exactly offensive but certainly not for me.

I may be in the minority here, I prefer the Concentree version to the original. The original does not seem as deep or warm to me as the concentree, nor does it last a long. The smell itself strikes me as being very "French" in that it is sophistciated, not trendy, and a bit quirky. Petitgrain (which I love) is a main feature, and the scent dries down to a masculine, leatherey green accord. I love that there is a slight powderiness to it, suggesting the Classic No. 5 and all things refined and French. Pour Monsieur is for the man who is sure of himself.

I love the original fragrance. I do not recommend the "concentree' version of Pour Monsieur. Make sure when you purchase this fragrance it is the regular Eau de Toilette or cologne. You'll smell a huge difference. At least I do.

I've been wearing this on and off since college in 1991. I disagree with some of the other reviews that this is an older man's fragrance. A masculine scent is just that - and this one is so simple, lightly spicy, barely citrusy. I hadn't worn it for years and recently came back to it. It's a classic, working well in the daytime and evening as well. I will say however that the cologne is not the same. Only the concentree has the richness needed to make this fragrance work.

Superior chypre!!! Citrus notes and spices lead to a woody-oriental accord with note of oakmoss. Has a character of very mature age but I like to wear it from time to time in my late 20s. Maybe it's a kind of love at first sniff. When purchased I've been smelling my wrist continously for 20 min after application. Can't say that about regular version (non-concentrated), they are different. PMC is very brisk and neat. No doubt it requires a suit and is a quite formal scent for colder season. Long live Jacques Polges!!!
