Quite delicious, actually. Synthetic in a pleasant way. Fruity, sweet and vanillic-musky fragrance in lovely bottle. If you are looking for compliments, then this is a "can`t go wrong". Just don`t overload, 2-4 sprays will be fine. I find the lasting power to be quite flawless. My girlfriend told me it reminded her the way some specific My Little Pony toy use to smell. Ouch. 12 September 2008

I'm going to sound somewhat curmudgeonly, but I have to admit, I despise this cologne. I have tried to like it and worn it half a dozen times but it simply offends. I would describe the basenotes as an overt and abrasive blend of cinnamon, black pepper, effervescence and amorphous, unidentifiable sweetness. It is piqued, overpowering and unpleasant. Extremely synthetic. Also, incidentally, I hate cinnamon in cologne, which may be odd, because I love cardamom. Cinnamon isn't listed in this one's pyramid but it's all I can think of when I spray it on, cinnamon hard candy dissolved in a black pepper effusion. Overall this was a one-dimensional cologne that I have tried and failed to enjoy, and there are few I don't find the proper mindset or occasion to truly enjoy. It is amongst the part of my collection that I will seek to sell or trade; I wouldn't waste another day or evening on this bottle. 01 September 2008

I would describe this one as cheap and cheerful. Nothing exceptional, but very wearable. I have gotten compliments on it when wearing it in public. It is sweet and fruity, but it never seems to go over the edge to being unbearable sweet or gourmand on my skin. I'd probably not buy it again, but it seems to be an inoffensive, wearable and pretty versatile little number. 18 August 2008

Just like mix fruit candy.....A bit different stuff but definately not for me. Vanila based dry down....I don't feel any musk. Too sweet for men. Low sillage and longevity......All thumbs down for this one 14 August 2008

Fellas when you wear this, you'll be the object of "desire" when you come in contact with any woman in your's and it's presence. Dunhill really made one of the best sex potions of all time and it will never die as long as the ladies love it! 14 July 2008

Sweet and citrusy. Nice all around scent for everything. Maybe a little too pedestrian to impress but it's certainly a good cheapo. 12 June 2008

There's not too much to describe that hasn't been described below. The intense sweet, sweet fruitiness is a little too much to bear. It takes about 4 hours on my skin before vanilla and musk are noticeable, but even then its not enough to balance the sweetness that pervades. Desire is sweeter than Individuel. The sillage and longevity are great - it's just too bad there isn't something to temper the topnotes as it dries. Great if you like sweet - avoid if you do not. 11 June 2008

I wore this several years ago and then stopped. Put it on again the other day and forgot how loud it could be. It's so syrupy sweet in the beginning but the drydown is pleasant enough. Wouldn't wear every day but from time to time. In 2002 it was over over used. Now that you don't smell it quite as much maybe I'll take it out again. 04 May 2008

Love it or hate it? I dunno, Im caught in between. I love love love the bottle, bit iffy about the scent. It seems edgy and synthetic to start, but softens agreeably, but then another pervasivly unsettling note comes out to play (synthetic rather than real, natural rosewood, methinks) and ruins the whole matinee... My assessment? The synthetic fruits need to be toned down and softened, particularly in content. Perhaps a dash of oakmoss to provide a tempering dryness? A little more musk, vanilla and labdanum? Anything to provide more grounding, and temper the synthetic, headache inducing top-notes. Sporty indeed. Just bearable to wear out. Nice for school/uni. Needs to be re-editioned, improved. softened. tempered. 06 December 2007

This smells like a bowl of fresh fruit. Reminds me of fruit loops and fruity pebbles. I've gotten a few comments by the ladies, I like it on me. I will finish my 3.4 oz bottle, I dunno if I will buy it again. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but lately I am hooked on sexual by germain and angel men. I like the dunhill fresh too for summer time 05 December 2007

This is very much a love it or hate it fragrance. It's true that it is intense sweetness when first applied, but like most will tell you, it's all about the drydown. Has a really good vanilla/musk combo that's not too fem. This is great for people who like frags like A-Men but don't want to have something every other guy owns. The only issue for me is the jury is still out on sillage. I seem to get about 3 hours out of this one. Layering with shower gel or using almond oil might be the answer. 29 April 2007

Very nice apple/lime opening and drys down on my skin to a pleasant vanilla-tinted musk. I also seem to keep just a hint of the opening scents for quite a while, making this quite a unique scent for me. I don't use more than a couple of sprays but it seems to last almost the whole day. The first time I wore it out my wife said "mmm ... fruity" and since then she's told me she really likes it. I'm glad she likes it because I've found that I'm wearing it just for me, because *I* like it :) 20 April 2007

Apples and Limes and Roses and a hint of vanilla that really picks up in the end. I don't really get that synthetic feel as all of these fragrances appear in nature, it is a lot going on at once and because of that your nose doesn't really know what to do. One thing is for certain; it's a whole lotta sweet. 28 March 2007

When I first bought this, I sprayed it onto myself in the car. I got headaches and was nauseated by the scent. Hated it so much I wanted to try and take it back to the store. Obviously they didnt take it back as it was sprayed. (or were they bs'ing me?) anyway, decided to give a second chance. I really dislike the top notes, but the dry down is quite nice. Good for warming up with your girlfriend next to a fire. In my opinion, good for intimate affairs. Just dont spray it in a confined space and you'll be alright. But in hindsight, would not have bought it. I guess I was a novice back when I bought it. 13 February 2007

I don't understand the negative reviews for this, but I guess it is a love it or hate it kinda frag. I love it, it is a less cloying version of Joop, and since I can't stand Joop, this is a perfect. Desire Blue is equally as excellent. Smells the same but Blue and not Red somehow. Clever, quite genius. 09 February 2007

If you turn a blind eye to "Dunhill Edition" you can't find any considerable thing in the Dunhill's collection. A garbage of terribly sweet / sour smell..strong accord—I hate lollipop notes in the opening, because makes me sicken. This one has a lot girlish manner which is created for teenager crowd. Nearly identical to Ferrari Black, they are both extremely fruity and strong, sour / sweet blends—it hurts my sinus! It's really.. really bad.. it's horrid! Forget it. 14 November 2006

Got the giftset from my cousin last Christmas. I like Desire because one its a sweet citrus scent. You can instantly smell the lime and apple. Which I think make it a distictive scent. My only complaint is that the dry down makes the scent even sweeter. So sweet it makes me feel a little sick. But otherwise I really like it. 11 November 2006

This is perhaps the most offensively foul cologne I have ever smelled. In showing no disrespect to posters above who seem to enjoy it I must note that we all have our opinions, but there is no denying that this is DEFINITELY a "Love it or hate it" scent. It is extremely pungent and distinct, so be weary if you are going to purchase it without trying it out first. It is not for the faint. 10 November 2006

The notes in the opening accord are heavily synthetic; nevertheless, I rather enjoy the effect. This is one of the rare cases where the unnatural ambiance does not destroy my appreciation of the fragrance. The scent is strong, and it could get cloying if over applied. It’s a bit vulgar and a quite a bit common, but, even so, I rather like it. It has a nice dry down—too sweet, but tolerable. Lasts long, too. 29 October 2006

A light, sweet, fruity, smell. I made the mistake of buying it based upon the smell on the card in the store, and not on my wrist. It dried down nicely on the card into a light warm vanilla-musk base. But on me, like RockyMaivia wrote, it never develops into a warm drydrown. It stays sweet, which some people like, but I wanted some more of the drydown. A very unique scent though, so if you like a sweet fruit smell, go for it. 17 October 2006

I don't like sour colognes and they make me vomit. for example: Burberry London (the worst fragrance i've ever use), Dunhill Desire, Desire Blue & Ferrari Black, of course Desire is better than the others. is strong for me & very fruity. Ferrari, Dunhill & Hugo Boss Products are like cheap colognes. 04 September 2006

This is perhaps an example of how a combination of ingredients can trigger a subconsious association in a persons mind. When I smell this I think of cigarettes. Not the smell of cigarettes but the smell that someone who would smoke cigarettes would wear. I am going to check myself into a psycho-analyst now! 23 August 2006

I couldnt stop smelling this after my initiall whiff. It was so strange and different to me.The handsome bottle was a bonus.I envisioned it on my dresser.I had to have it.This is probably the fragrance that made the greatest initial impact on me.Then again, I was a rookie at that time. It didnt smell sweet. It was kinda funky. Now, it is still one of my top guns, although it is sweeter now.I never did detect the apples. It does last well and I get good compliments. I think the name is very fitting. 03 August 2006

I cannot get enough of this stuff. Desire is the best cologne I have smelled recently. I am in love with a cologne. Can't wait to get some. Being a love it or hate it, I love it! 17 January 2006

To me it just smells like candy (skittles to be exact) and soap perhaps. From the moment i put it on until it has totally faded it has a cloying sickeningly sweet smell to it. On me it never develops or warms, it just stays TOO sweet. Some have compared Minotaure to Desire, but personally they seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum (but perhaps the minotaure i smelled was old and had gone bad). It just seems like a sweet mainstream "me too" kind of fragrance that i would not want to be wearing. 27 December 2005

Ahh that Desire! I just love this fragrance. Very seductive, very sexy very alluring. So I guess I am at odds with just about all the other posters on this one. But this really is a wonderful scent. It lasts long and wears like a dream. It's well rounded in my opinion I really think that the sweetness it carries is very desirous! 05 December 2005

Confirming what's already been said: Similiar but inferior to Scultpure. Desire is a clearly synthetic smelling creamy musk on me, with thick and sometimes cloying fruity top notes. I don't know if it's my body chemistry but when I spray it on I just detect the apple, vanilla and musk, none of the other notes at all. When I first discovered this fragrance I loved it, but the attraction has waned over time. 07 November 2005

Ah, to desire Desire. I've had this fragrance for a few years now, and although the collection, and my nose, has grown quite fond of the niche offerings, I do reach for Desire every once in a while just to see how far my tastes have progressed. Not a bad scent at all, it's one of those few that have an apple note, though the patchouli takes over well into the dry-down. Somewhat reminscent of Mesmorize by Avon, I believe. I'm sure Desire can be found for a decent price on the internet which would place it in the bargain-bin purchase. Not a must-own by any means, but not the red-headed stepchild either. 07 October 2005

Desire is terrible. When testing it, my biggest Desire was to scrub it off with a brillo pad and comet. This is a synthetic, cloying mess. It smells like some one spilled apple slurpee mix and tried to clean it up with an even sweeter vanilla scented cleaner. The worst gourmand I have ever smelled. 21 September 2005

I agree that it's very similar to Sculpture by Nikos , except Sculpture is more well-rounded. Desire has a vary sharp sweetness to it, with some spice. Can't really see it working on anything but younger people. 13 September 2005

I wear this scent and suddenly I am eight years old again and fresh from the barbershop. Probably not what Dunhill had in mind when they named this but there you are. I love it. 11 September 2005

Its hard to define this one. At first I thought it was Joop rebottled, it smacks you with a fruity (well, rosey/vanilla) smell, that seems to linger after first contact with air. But as it settles, and gets to work on your skin, you begin to notice subtle oriental shifts. But where Joop lacks freshness, Dunhill Desire maintains a bit of 'still fresh in the morning' scent. "Its Fruity with a hint of Spicey Freshness" - is the best definition I can give it. Not sure if everyone will like it, one to buy after a Sampler methinks. 20 December 2002

When I first sprayed this on, it was cloyingly sweet, and I walked out of the store, thankful I didn't purchase a bottle. I drove around, running errands, and near the end of the day I got back into the car, and was enveloped in a delightful musky scent. I guess it had a chance to dry down a bit, and the candy-like sweetness was replaced with an almost oriental scent. I decided to run one more errand back to the mall and picked up that bottle after all. 26 November 2002
