I find this one a similar or lighter version of Herrera for Men. Spicy on top, then tobacco(hmmm! addicting) on the bottom. And as it fades it's like you just step out from the shower.
Commend the Italians, naturally impressive.

This is a decent fragrance, although not to my particular liking. It's very sharp and nonetheless fairly pleasant. However, this is the second fragrance (behind a certain Armani scent) that I'd smelled consistently on other men, making it less unique and much more of a "just another guy with D&G on".

I enjoyed this fragrance when I tried it on the first time. After wearing it a few times, however, I realized how uninteresting the notes in it are. It's not bad, but I expect something much more refined and profound from a name like Dolce and Gabbana.

Magnificent fragrance really. cant think of anything negative about this one seeing as the smell is really attractive and generates stares and smiles wherever you go, which is better than an oo you smell great. people acknowledge your wearing this fragrance and automatically you are more approachable. the longetivity and sileage are verging on extreme also as for me 4 sprays on my body lasts a good strong hours with it still being visible slightly the next day. its very nightly and not really a daytime fragrance but if you wanted a big impression than wear it throughout the day and see the response you get. top buy and i definetly reccomend it.

I've been owning this one for more than 5 years now - it just won't decrease.
And that is not because its so long lasting.
The point is - my wife gave it to me as a present and she absolutely loves its smell, she's going kinda horny everytime I wear it - I don't share that ecstasy. Even though others seem to.
I tried so hard, but I just can't get access to its secrets.
For me it smells deeply artificial -more than any other I know.
Like some detergent or cleaning agent or even desinfectant. No life in it at all.
I would'nt have bought it for myself, although im always curious and have never smelled anything like it.
Funnily enough it works with other women as well - so I use to wear it when a good impression is necessary.

This is a very fresh clean and crisp fragrance. It is very youthful and modern. It starts out with a great citrus opening and drys down with a somewhat smooth finish with a hint of tobacco. Overall, this is a great fragrance and actually lasts longer than many other youthful fragrances out there. Sillage is excellent as well.
Thumbs up.

Truely a classic scent. I can't complain about this one at all. If you want to smell good, wear D&G PH. With that said, don't expect to stand out really, b/c there will probobly be somebody next to you wearing this. It's a really popular frag. and I can smell why!

I used to own a couple bottles of this one, but once I finished them, I never replaced them because too many people wear this! However, this does not speak to my opinion of the scent itself. The fragrance itself is a classic, very sensual and masculine at the same time. After a vibrant and purely citrus opening, the heart consists of spices such as tarragon, cardamom and pepper, with a touch of lavender. The base is woody, with cedar and creamy sandalwood, but also some tobacco. I initially expected the tobacco to be stronger, but on my skin it never was. In fact, the base on my skin was woody, yet also seemed significantly powdery, probably due to the iris root. This fragrance is very popular, and it is not difficult to see why, and I think that it will always remain a classic.

A classic one and one of my all-time favorites. It's elegant but also quite fresh. It lasts 5-6 hours on my skin. Ideal for daily use but I think it's good for an evenig too. I used to spray it in my car because it's an italian scent and as a Lancia owner I thought these two italian products have something in common, they're stylish.

This is the one that got me head over heals into D&G awhile ago. A brilliant scent that exudes pure class from start to finish. Another one that works well on anyone and everyone. This is truly a great classic and will be a favourite of mine forever.

RECOMMENDED!

14 strong years and still going. this one will never be discontinued.very masculine drydown of cedar & sandalwood & tobacco.lasts and lasts throughout the day and evening. not for the faint of heart as it tends to be overbearing at times but to say the least this is a perfect scent.

I'm new to perfumes and was trying out a couple of them. Tried the ones that most large stores were pushing (Polo Ralph Lauren, CK, Hugo Boss, etc) and did not like any one of them. There was something common from them which I did not enjoy. I eventually settled on Dunhill by Aldred Dunhill (the one from 2003) for a while, but after using it for a couple of months, I wanted to try something new.

Then I chanced upon Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme and wow, what a breath of fresh air. I knew nothing about it before I smelled it and after a whiff of it I bought it immediately. Little did I know that this was an old fragrance which is a shame really. I wish more fragrances smelled like this.

Since I'm knew to perfuming I don't have the vocabulary to describe this exceptional fragrance. All I can say is that it relaxes me and makes me feel good when I smell it. It smells 'sophisticated' and does not at all smell like a generic perfume.

This is a paradoxic fragrance. Slightly overpowering at first. Great longevity. The dry-down is wonderful, particularly when used in moderation, and morphs into what I perceive as sweet tobacco, pepper and musk. Not my favorite, and more a cold weather animal. But, nonetheless, quite distinguished and sensual.

Distinctive, pleasant scent. It lasts a long time, and I never get any bad comments about it..well...I prefer people to ask what it is....rather than say..."Oh,Dolce& Gabbana"...so I suppose that could be a negative...but if I see it going for a bargain...I'll grab a bottle...it's nice to wear.

Good longevity, good projection here, but something here I dont like...I dont know what is.
I m a guy who likes exclusives things, to feel important with a fragance. To buy an experience.
With Dolce Gabbana I have a good cologne, but not that important feeling, confidence, sharpness, attitude. To be me, the one and only.
Fresh, soapy and clean....whatever....but I feel like all people, not like a VIP.
Not again.

A lot is going on in this one, and while it's very nice, maybe not everything fits. Is this a fougère or an oriental? I can't quite decide; perhaps it's trying to be both. I agree that this uses pretty good ingredients for a designer scent from a smaller house, and while it smells decent, I can't really say I think it's well constructed. The balance seems to be a bit off on the sweet side, and while it packs a good bit of sillage at first, the initial impression breaks down fairly soon and becomes a bit muddy. This is not a bad scent as these things go; it's just that it seems to hold some promise and then doesn't fully meet the expectation. I'll have to go for a neutral on this, although it's fully good enough to wear for everyday work or such routine events.

as much as people hate D&G for its overpopularity, I still love it. When I smelled it on paper I wasn't that impressed but it smells excellent on my skin. Women love this fragrance. It is unique, powerful, and the tobacco is wonderful. The tobacco in its base gives it a very masculine edge, which I love, considering many colognes are hard to tell apart from women's perfumes nowadays. It's kinda cool to be witnessing apart of a modern-day classic.

In my opinion, this is one of the only "common" fragrances that comes up to the level of quality of the more expensive "distinguished" fragrances. The fruity top notes are terrific, but especially the lemon and mandarin. (Disclaimer: I'm a huge fan of lemon.) When it dries down, the cardamom, pepper, musk, and tobacco really have a chance to come through, and in the right proportions.

This scent has great sillage and longevity. Unless you have dry skin and a raging fever, you won't have to keep applying it. It's also very easy to recognize this scent; it really cannot be confused with anything else. It also shouldn't turn into anything nasty as it approaches drydown. I've actually never run into anyone wearing this that it didn't smell good on them, and it's worn commonly enough that this statement is not purely anecdotal. You can't go wrong with this fragrance.

D & G has a magic sillage. It isn't a heavy fragrance but the sweet tobacco dry-down puts it apart from today's fresh clones. The opening is unique, yes just a sweet citrus, but unlike anything else before and since. GIGANTIC - 2 thumbs fully erect :-)

Out of my collection of 17 perfumes, this would be dead last. The first time I smelt this perfume after a blind buy, I had to take it to a local perfume shop to get it checked if it was authentic.

To me it smelt highly synthetic, like a mix of lemon and burnt plastic. There was no progression to speak of, the whole time I smelt lemon and plastic.

Not worth the hype and rave reviews.

I can certainly see why Dolce and Gabbana is so popular; this best seller has a lot more going for it than a successful marketing campaign. It has an strong citrus opening but I get as many aromatics out of the opening as I get citrus: the sage and lavender share equally with the citrus accord—both lend their aromatic character to the spices and greens already rising from the middle accord. The opening is a bit sharp and is both fresh and elegant, and it sets the stage for further excellence in this fragrance. The floral and spicy middle notes are of quality construction and possibly lacking a bit in masculinity. Smoothly blended but, as in the opening, with a bit of bite that keeps it interesting. When I say there’s a sharpness in the top and middle accords, I mean that as a compliment. The sharpness gives the zing—the sparkle to Dolce and Gabbana PH’s excellently balanced accords. I don’t care for the drydown quite as much as I like the top and middle of the pyramid—I don’t particularly like the tobacco note, but the wood and tonka come through very nicely. Dolce and Gabbana has very good accords, good sillage, and excellent longevity…it is an excellent fragrance, and it deserves to be as popular as it is.

Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme is a pleasant little find. It goes on smooth and sweet, with honeyed spices and neroli in an accord that’s daringly floral for a modern men’s scent. A generous helping of tonka or vanilla, soft woods, and a strong, pulpy fruit note come into play as the topnotes settle. All merge quickly with the sweet spices to build the scent’s foundation. Dolce & Gabbana’s heart is relatively bright, sweet, and more oriental than fougere to my nose. Its surface is smoothed over by a velvety heliotrope and almond accord.

Dolce & Gabbana projects strongly and leaves plenty of sillage, but its soft quality keeps it from smelling overly potent or abrasive, as many of the modern sweet fruity men’s scents can. Nor does it lean on the gourmand chocolate and coffee notes that have come to seem so banal in the wake of A*Men and Le Male. The drydown is all vanilla, velvety woods, and soft musk, still seasoned by the sweet almond richness of heliotrope. I don’t smell any moss in it at all.

If Dolce & Gabbana has a fault, it’s that the fruit note featured so prominently at its heart smells a bit crude and synthetic, though not so much as to suggest a cheap hard candy. Pleasant is the word that I keep coming back to as I wear this scent. It’s not all that original, even rather bland, but it’s easy to like and strikes me as quite versatile. The young men who douse themselves in Axe or pour whole bottles of A*Men over their heads in a misguided effort to attract women could do far worse than switch to this nice little fragrance.

INCREDIBLE !!!

D&G Pour Homme is one of the very few fragrances that everybody seems to love (or at least like).
It starts fresh (lemon) but not too fresh. It is bitter (mandarine), but not too bitter. It becomes woody but not too woody, and there is a hint of tobacco in it (but not too much).
I think its this fine balance that makes D&G Pour Homme so likeable. It's also very masculine but that doesn't seem to bother.
All the perfumers should learn a lesson from this one. D&G wasn't (or at least didn't try) to be mainstream like all those aqua's and cool's out there on the market. But it became very popular anyway, just by trying to smell different and somehow special.

But nothing is perfect! The only thing that annoys me and bars me from using this one is the fact, that there are so many people out there who use this one too (that's the same problem with Jean Paul Gaultier's "Le Male"). So you'll feel really good with D&G Pour Homme, but not really special!

Uh, Classy?

If by "classy" you mean young man with a shirt as loud and as synthetic as the fragrance his grandmother bought him for christmas- then yes.. It is as sophisticated Fred Flintstone.

I cannot stand this fragrance... I was standing in the airport waiting for someone and I kid you not... The flight from Chicago landed and as they get off out of the 150 or so people leaving at least 15-20 were wearing this fragrance. All young men who were certain 10 sprays was wayy too little.

Anyone who says this is fresh, think synthetic.. Anyone who says sweet think alcohol drenched pineapple and when someone says classy think of the first statements...

Quite simply my fave night-time/winter fragrance. Spicy/musky leather and tobacco. Women adore it. Longevity is great for me. In fact, when it gets on my leather coat, it stays the entire winter. May turn out to be this generation's Drakkar, but who cares? Delicious!

Mass appeal, original, and enticing beyond all imagination. If I can't pick something to wear, Dolce is never a wrong choice. May it be the first day of classes, a party, or a wedding, D&G pour homme is your go-to guy. It's slightly sweet with a mellow tobacco note. Add some subtle woods in there and light, almost subliminal spices to round out the base. Although it's not as imaginative as the controversial Dreamer, it is fantastic for what it is.

Good stuff, although a bit too popular. This is one of the best scents for winter. Dry and stiff, no flowery nonsense, just straight up manly niceness, without the use of musk. If you like the smell of cigarettes (unlit that is) you will really enjoy this. If you find the proce too stiff, try Realities for men...smells EXACTY the same. D&G ph lasts longer though. Also, if you care for Dreamer by Versace, I think you will enjoy this. They are not the same, nor similar for that matter, just in the same vein, like siblings or something.

A great citrus cologne, lemon or lime depending on how you smell it. After the citrus it is mild, soft and pleasant. Very wearable, gentle and fairly sophisticated. Aside from the pleasant citrus, it is mostly generic, but the citrus is endearing enough to make it worthwhile.

I don't know what the sales figures are, but it seems to be hugely popular. Sales figures might be deceiving anyway, because a lot of perfume is purchased but not actually worn. This one is so easy and pleasant to wear that it quickly becomes a favourite.

This scent works in the summer, day or night, office or club. Men and women seem to enjoy it equally, which might explain its popularity.

As long as you like citrus, you could buy this scent and wear it every day.

It´s a sexy fragrance and long lasting.
But here in Brazil we have an identical

So it´s a little common here.

I went to a perfumery in Valletta which sells at wholesale prices and the male clerk wanted to sell me this.
He didn't spray some on my wrist like I would have liked, just sprayed on a piece of paper. No samples were available of anything.

To me it smelt like some aqua di gio' clone or something lemony. It was barely there. I really did not like it, it did not say anything to me except 'BORING'.

Mmmm..lets see, I bought this blind some years ago and Dolce and Gabbana had the edge for several reasons A) the Juice is 125ml, I like when you get more than 100ml, am not complaining i only said i like it!! B) It was and is still without a close comparison across all its dimensions ie complexity, longevity, smoothness. etc. c)you don't have to rob a bank to buy it.
This fragrance is already a classic in its own right. what more can is say the frag is really good.

Ummm...hmmm...well...

look, everyone seems to love it, and to this day, I smell it EVERYWHERE!

It's alright, I would not necessarily go out and buy it per se, but I wear it because I got a huge bottle as a Christamas gift.

Its not bad at all, but just not what I'd usually wear. And so many people do wear it...

But even if only a few people wore it, it would still not be something that I would "hunt" for.

Longevity and sillage are alright, the smell itself is alright as well...just not as special as everyone makes out!

Initial burst of lemon which gradually transforms into a smooth refined tobacco. Classy..yet sexy! As for the age bracket..it doesn’t really matter. Just as long as you got class and sex appeal! ;) Excellent for an evening out in the city…

A VERY sophisticated cologne. Smooth, classy, and for an older gentlemen, although a friend of mine who is 18 wears it very, VERY well!

I tried this once, and not to brag, but most things smell best on me! I have good skin...but D&G's pour homme disagrees highly with my chemistry, and so it chooses to smell like a glob of musk and cedar on me!

Thumbss up!

This is a fragrance I've come to really enjoy after wearing a few times. It smells great. Very classy, not overpowering, not too sweet and will not give you a headache. I don't detect the lemon as much as others but that's only in the opening anyway. The drydown smells like a million bucks. Longevity on me is only about 4 hours (stays close to skin about 8 to 10). 6 to 8 sprays isn't overdoing it since you just get short bursts anyway. Try the spray on the t-shirt trick for a lingering effect.

BTW Realities is very similar as some have said, problem is it has no longevity at all and you won't know you had ever applied it 1 hour later. There's a reason it has disappeared from store shelves.

As I've noted before, I believe some of the harsher critiques on these pages lack the patience to see where a fragrance is going, and to where it eventually arrives.

First, to my olfactory recollection, there are no other "homme" fragrances quite like this one. Often too spicy or too dry, they lack to complexity I require. In other words, a subtle sweetness that puts the poet's pen to paper. This men's fragrance has that complexity.

Smellig this on others is what got me into the store to try it myself and of course what I experienced initially had me wondering if I'd been lied to. The citrus was almost... ALMOST, too much, but as I waited I realized that the sharpness of the opening notes is what fuels the fire to burn the woods so to speak.

Again, to give a bad review of the top notes seems short sighted because the genius of this composition and what sets it apart from the rest is in the base. The GORGEOUS, sensual, warm, masculine, wooded base. Here the tonka serves to sweeten and warm the woods and it just lingers, begging a closer examination. The BASE is perhaps one of the most assured and beautiful statements of masculinity in all of men's perfumery. The composition includes so many ingredients that make up traditional mens offerings but with the sweetness and citrus that only suggest themselves at the end of the olfactory journey, this really stands alone.

That said, I doubt I'll ever own it and it is not on my COLLECTORS MUST OWN list. It does make a statement and I'm not sure that statement describes me. But I appreciate smelling it on others a great deal.

I agree with "Redleg" on this one. I find it to be a great cologne, although a bit sweet. A cigar will really enhance the experience of this cologne and balance out the sweeness. Not really a day scent for me though.

The top notes are very strong and citrusy; somewhat resembling of detergent. The middle notes contain a solid lavender note but also a tarragon note that is too strong. The basenotes are very good: tobacco and woods combined with a pleasant sweetness. The longevity is great. I would have given thums-up if the fragrance was better balanced.

Other reviewers compared it to most Boss and Calvin Klein scents i think they were right. It has the same generic quality like most perfume by these houses. It starts of fruity and floral and ends quite powdery and tough i am by no means a fan of macho scents, rasther their outspoken critic, this one seems to go way too far in the opposite direction.
However, being so andrgynous, i can understand why women love it- don't know how many women like to smell this on a man, but i've known quite a few who used it for themselves. It's actually fresh, but just as fresh as a usual showergel or affordable deodorant, which is not necessarily bad, but nothing extraordinary either.

Complex and beautiful!Starts out with a great wave of sage and mandarin but dries down into an astonishing accord of spice, citrus and aquatics.
Warm and sexy but just dry enough to be masculine and dignified as well.On my skin this one is longlasting and truly gorgeous!
(Wonder if the 2006 YSL L'Homme owes anything to this since,to my nose, there are a lot of similarities though L'Homme is lacks the citrus notes and is altogether drier).

People appreciated smelling this on me, but to my nose the citrus was too harsh, and it never let go throughout the pyramid. What I used to like about it was the sandalwood & tobacco smell it left in the bedroom, for hours. Tested it again a few weeks ago, but no, won't go back to it.

My unrefined and unsophisticated nose (probably due to lack of breeding) has a theory about the D&G. In 1994, someone at Dolce said: "Hey, that Ungaro 1993 kinda rocks, let's fruit it up and put our name on it". And so it came to pass.

Inside every bottle of D&G, there is an Ungaro III struggling to claw its way back to the light. :D

That said, those in their twenties will probably prefer the D&G to Ungaro. But if i were you, i'd try both and choose.

Aromatic ( Fougere ) meets woody

Marriage of the aromatic top/middle and the woody base is classic. Nightwear for me. Love it and overall a great smell. Most people will love this masculine fragrance. Hate the ads for D&G as it usually shows 2 dudes about to screw a third guy. This is a horrible image for their line which I would hate even if I was gay. But the scent is already a classic.

very very good cologne. I did a lot of sampling before buying this but this is great for nights. starts out strong almost like bad perfume but after about an hour it turns into a great masculine but subtle smell. The combo of basenotes is highlighted by musk and tobacco... almost kind of woodsy but fresh. Definately recommend for nights out but may be a little overpowering for the daytime. beware if you can smell so can everyone else so don't overspray b/c you may not get the results you are looking for with the ladies. a couple of light sprays to the neck and wrists does the trick, i wouldn't make a habit of wearing on clothing. two thumbs way up.

I had never smelled this until last month, and then I just HAD to have it. The citrus opening is very simple - almost lemon furniture polish - but the masculine and complex drydown is where it's at baby! This is my new favorite scent. Sillage is good and longevity is about 4-5+ hours. This is a real quality frag. I think it's more suited to evening wear or day/night in cooler months - probably too bold for the office. Does anyone on here ever wear this to work, or know someone who does?
What are the reactions? I recently bought Burberry London Men and the two are similar, but the London seems more appropriate for the office. Comments?

Since I live in sort of a cultural...void region, I buy most of my fragrances based on good reviews. It works about 90 percent of the time for the good. At first I didn't really like the intense fruitiness of D&G, but I tell ya, this is one fragrance that you will like more with each use. The intensity of the top notes gradually gives way to muted aromatic fruitiness that is completely fresh and pleasant. I never get tired of this scent (top and heart notes). I must have a block on the basenotes because to me the top two tiers really maintain a lock on the olfactory sense. Now, D&G also is, to me, the best in my 6-fragrance wardrobe in sillage, projection and longevity. One application works all day long. The ONLY odd thing I've noticed about D&G is the color. It's "urine of extremely dehydrated human." If you place it on your (shaded) high boy, it will look at first glance like a urine specimen on the way to your doctor's office.

Women seem to really love this one but, unfortunately, I’m still on the fence about it. Whenever I wear this, there’s always this irritating note that just lingers through to the drydown (I’ve yet to figure out which note’s actually causing this).

Although I can see the appeal with this one, it borders too closely on the line which divides the generic (a la Calvin Klein and Hugo Boss) from the sublime (please fill in the gap). Still, it’s a well made fragrance that possesses a certain degree uniqueness and sexual magnetism.

One of the best citrus scents out there that will garner compliments from men and women regularly. On my top 5 list and that includes Diors, Chanels, Creeds etc. At the price, you gotta get this one. Unless you hate citrus openings you can't go wrong here.

Nice smoky fragrance with citrus spices and woods. It has a deepness and it is really masculine. Not for young boys because the tobacco notes makes fragrance heavy.Recommended!

Bipolar almost -- starts out like Eau Sauvage or something, and dries into something TOTALLY different.

Very nice, though, and very formal, and very accessible.

"Everyone else loves it but the wearer" Thats how I can describe this. It doesn't drive me wild, i dont even know what it really smells of, but spray it on and you get compliments all day - I've heard of females actually hunting down males wearing this scent in clubs - I don't understand it. But, if you're single, grab a bottle, theres magick in it.

Slightly too complicated in its note composition, D&G delivers none the less.
A strong intricate citrus opening gradually transitions to a great wood drydown. A likely prefered scent for those who like Orientals. I disliked it at first, now its one of my top 5. Its longevity on my skin is impressive. As previously mentioned, good sillage.

I personally love this fragrance. On me it starts out very peppery/citrusy scent, then dries down to a very masculine, woodsy, tobbaco'ish scent. although I don't find that the tobacco is very strong -my only complaint about this fragrance.

It reminds me of sitting in my library, sipping a good bourbon, and enjoying a good cuban cigar.

I find the fragrance to be perfect for social environments aswell as private time. It just seems to evoke happiness for me. I've had several compliments on this fragrance.

Bright, intriguing, without pathos and boring freshness, "sits" comfortably-not irritates, makes impression upon women:)), in lacks has not been noticed..., one of few, constantly present at a collection.
