I'm with Odysseum!! It opened orange/citrus on me with brisk green undertones...the middle is warm and almost honeyed and drydown to die fort... ambery sandalwood with a wisp of the lavender that didn't show up at first. Go figure. A total gem. Ladies - take note.

I bought this one after reading the reviews here. I have to agree that this is definitely a classic dry herbal fragrance that starts off with a sharp burst of lemon not unlike Acqua Di Selva (one could accuse it of the bug spray accord). What surprises me is that no one's mentioned that the heart of this fragrance is actually oregano which, when mixed with the other herbal and coniferous notes does give it a piney character. It certainly comes the closest I've smelled to the much maligned "pencil shavings" accord. Personally, I happen like this dry clean woody/cedary accord . It's a very naturalistic outdoorsy scent. If you're into that kind of thing and tired of all the synthetic smelling aquatics then you'll love this one. It's definitely got a rugged provincial European thing going on. I'd put this one in the same class as Pino Sylvestre which relies more on thyme for it's herbal/coniferous strengh. Definitely not one to overdo though. This is a potent concoction with admirable staying power. I give it a thumbs up for its honesty, depth and rugged elegance.

This is a very versatile, unusual, classy fragrance for spring and summer. The scent is very reminiscent of fresh greens, florals, and woods. It is very reminiscent of walks in the forest after a springtime rainshower, while at the same time reminiscent of summer evenings. I think the scent could be unisex, but it does lean heavier toward the masculine side. As odysseusm states, the lavender used is very smoky, and in my opinion, masculine. There's an odd mix of everything sweet, citrusy, aromatic, juicy, and fresh that comes with all this greenery and florals, yet there are aspects of drier scented woods that aren't sweet at all. At the same time, though, they are not bitter (Blenheim Bouquet, anyone?). To me, what makes the scent so interesting is that it does operate like a two sided coin. There are two distinct faces to this fragrance that are kept close together, and in my opinion, work in harmony. And the most important thing is that I find nothing about the fragrance to be pushy or loud. This could be a refreshing scent for the office. It is not cloying, opulent, or even remotely oriental. At the same time, it can be quite an attractive scent for use in the evening. Warm weather scent only! I think I might find it too redolent in the scents of spring and summer to wear when it's 20 below zero, and might want something a bit richer to stand up to the chill.

Top – bergamot, lemon, orange leaves, lavender, clary sage, basil, juniper, thyme, oregano
Mid – clove, evergreen
Base – cedar, sandalwood, oak moss, amber
Eau de 4 Voleurs (“The Four Thieves”) is superb! 4 Voleurs has a brisk opening, with citrus, substantial lavender and light green herbs. L’Occitane does lavender very well, usually in a deep, dry, smoky fashion. The interesting herbs give transition to the pine middle. The pine is EXCELLENT – a real woody pine, quite an amazing rendition of this difficult-to-capture scent. 4 Voleurs is in the style of Pino Silvestre (a herbal pine) but it is more complex, warmer, woodier, not as austere and chilly. It does have some dry, slightly ‘medicinal’ and cool aspects, but they are balanced by warm woods. If this sort of profile appeals to you, try it. I cannot recommend it highly enough! L’Occitane fragrances are excellent value.

I don't like the top notes but the drydown is very nice,classy,spicy-woody fragrance.

It's very similar to Halston 101(discontinued).
