This is not an awful fragrance, and yes it certainly does resemble Eau Sauvage. But it lacks Eau Sauvage's beauty, subtlety and elegance. It is also far less citrusy than Eau Sauvage. As Sir Slarty notes, lavender seems to run the show here in place of the citrus, and unfortunately it gives the fragrance a bit of a loud, vinegary smell. The vinegar lasts for a good hour or more. The drydown is pretty good, like a stronger but "flatter" or less complex than Eau Sauvage's drydown. If you're unhappy with Eau Sauvage's weak sillage and poor longevity, Extreme is worth a try, but don't expect the refinement and elegance of Eau Sauvage. 23 September 2009

I’m in total agreement with the other negative reviews – this smells nothing like the original. Its only positive point (which, to be honest, isn't much) is slightly better longevity. A pungent mess. [Original submission date: 29 December 2007] 27 June 2009

Not quite as great as the original but respectful take on nevertheless. I like it a lot. Very aromatic herbaceous citrus scent. Smells sour and dry, deep and very masculine in a timeless style. Multilayered dense aroma with interesting green musky drydown. Lasts forever. Extremely soothing scent. Best fragrance cure for hangover I have I tried. It really works like a best medicine!! If you looking for a versatile masculine citrus scent with mind calming effect, then this is for you. 15 February 2009

No way is this Eau Sauvage! Is this the first in a line of "Extreme" fragrances that set the tone for others? Adding "Intense", "Extreme" or an exclaimation mark doesn't mean it's just a more powerful version of its (usually better) predecessor. This has the citrus... no LAVENDER turned way up and the "sauvage" part turned down to a low hum. Deceiving name, boooo. 22 September 2008

Nice version of the succesful Eau Sauvage. Is different, ok, but the concept is the same, elegant, chic and sophisticated. Very classy and old school. Extreme version have an average longevity, but with a very interesting aura. This fragance is 26 years in the market...guess why. 22 September 2008
