This is brilliantly sophisticated. It is as if Lalique has infused a cedar plank with 24 Karat gold and shone a light upon it to enhance its luminescent richness. With juniper berries, cardamom, and citrus notes (very refined) to add to the golden shimmer of the opening, this dries down to a sensual, masculine spicey, woody masterpiece, cedar-esque in tone, color, and weight. It seems like the antithesis of the transparency that so many fragrance lovers are lamenting these days, but at the same time, one could never consider this heavy or stifling. The bottle’s strength and beauty is a gorgeous reaffirmation of its contents. This is a timeless, ageless classic.

Yes, I smell juniper berries, but is there also a hint of clove? I absolutely LOVE this fragrance and would say it's in my top 10. I own about 15 bottles of the EDP since I never wanted to run out of this one. Yes, I LOVE IT THAT MUCH! It is quite unique, not like anything else out there, and the staying power is EXCELLENT. A fragrance for a WEALTHY man, one whose mansion/abode overlooks the 15th hole at the local snob's club. With that kind of wealth, it's only appropriate to be a snob! Got to live up to the image (not to mention my beautiful new Mercedes). Anyway, this is a fragrance that a rich man would wear. Kinda like Mick Jagger wearing Cuir Russie by Chanel and Keith Richard wearing Habit Rouge by Guerlain, Equus is worn by another entrepreneur, Jon Remy!

Tasty stuff! LOVE the use of spices here -- and is that juniper that's so dominant beyond the spices? Great winter fragrance!

A unique fragrance. I don’t remember experiencing anything quite like it before. I’m not sure I understand it, but I am sure that I like it very much. Its opening notes are bold in composition but not in aggression—a citrus / coniferous accord with soft, rich spices (the spices—very low key) and a violet sharpness already rising from the middle level; I didn’t like this accord at first but I have grown to love it in a very short time. The suaveness of the mace and cardamom countering the sharpness of the violet leaves and juniper is what finally captured me—a daring juxtaposition. I can’t determine much change between the top and mid notes—I catch the mid notes immediately upon application. The drydown, also full bodied but discreet, presents a wood, vetiver, sequoia combination that achieves an incense ambiance.
Creative and bold notes and accords presented in a very subtle and discreet package, Lalique Equus could easily be taken for a niche fragrance except for one thing: It (Equus EDP) has incredible longevity. This horse is a thoroughbred. Exquisite bottle.

lalique has a curious habit of putting out copyfrags and then changing them a bit and slapping an etched animal on the bottle. La Faune = Allure, Equus = Passage d'Enfer. Fortunatley whoever their perfumer is really does know how to change a frag without ruining it. I'd say I like this one better than the l'Artisan.

Very strange scent, but I really like it. Almost entirely cedar, but the juniper berries are noticeable as well. I really like it.
