I think the formulation has changed in the past 10 years. I bought this for my husband, oh, about 10 years ago and I loved it on him. Especially when it died down and I had to snuggle to smell it.

Now I don't like it. I bought a bottle about 3 months ago and I swear it's different.

Nice... Very slightly resembling Boucheron's Jaipur (although it's far from the refinement of the latter), this is a comfortable fragrance that proves to be very easy to wear. It's a sweet and light scent that seems to be a safe choice almost anytime. Not necessarily an impressive perfume, but a pretty enjoyable scent. Worth a try.

A light sweet fougere fragrance. The clove and tobacco go really well.

Nothing special about this frag than its bottle. The design is superb but the frag composition is not. Fern + Clove + Tobacco etc, clean fresh for the opening that lasts about 10 minutes then it dries out to strong powerful smell of tobacco.

Herrera for Men is just a tad too sweet for me -- is it a clove note that makes it so? No, I don't think so -- it seems to be an anise note, or something along those lines (but not listed).

It's a classic, though -- just a classic I'd rather give out for gifts than keep for myself. I can definitely see this one still being around twenty years from now and -- in a world of ephemeral market "blips" -- that's saying a lot.

I bought this scent based on its comparisons to Paco Rabane's XS (and Himalaya, but I can't yet comment there)...

Well, I definitely think XS is better.

I can see the similarity, but when it comes down to it, Herrera for Men just falls a bit flat. My biggest gripe with this scent is a note that reminds me strongly of coriander, cilantro, or even curry. all flavours i enjoy well enough, but unfortunately not something i want to walk around smelling like... it comes off sort of rank to my nose... not a good omen!

that said, you may still like it. it lacks that initial strong juniper-mint punch of XS (which is a plus in my books), and the drydown is a safe, fresh green sweet slightly woody affair. not bad, but again, I think XS is slightly better. i suspect my bottle will last a long time...

A very classic smelling fragrance with an opening of clean freshness of the grassy and natural note. but there is a note that seems to be off but at the same time works.

Frankly, this is rank. I just can't get with the off-key fern or tobacco note that puts me off. I think they got the proportions all wrong here as this had the potential to be decent, at least to my nose.

This is good stuff, it put a smile on my face. I recently bought Paul Smith Extreme (clear bottle with the milticolor side), and this Herrera reminds me of it, except the Paul Smith would be like the au Fraiche version.

You can't go wrong with this, very spicy,(think east India) but sweet spicy and longevity is great. plus it envelopes well.

Watery and very flowery, no spice, no 'bite', woodnotes hardly detectible. Even if you like lighter fragrances with flowery notes, thisone of CH might be a disappointment for you. It's simply too feminine.

A great fragrance—it opens up dominated by greens and herbs—fern, lavender, rosemary—and strongly supported by citrus and aldehydes: The accord is more aromatic than green because even the lavender takes on an herbal rather than a creamy tone, and, of course, the aldehydes contribute their share to the aromatic effect. This winning accord holds for a long time. Through the entire run of the top notes, several of the mid and base level notes rise to the top to provide variety and interest—every once in a while I get a foreshadowing of tobacco and a sharp bite of clove or geranium—just flashes within the top. Often times when I wear this, I notice that the top notes will fade out almost completely and I smell basically nothing for a while. Then, the mid notes begin to appear and get stronger quite quickly—developing into an excellent tobacco and floral accord which has a touch of sharpness. The mid notes are not as strong as the top notes and provide less sillage, but they, too, have an enticing aroma and good longevity. Finally the drydown—a gorgeous wood drydown backed up by moss and amber. It still surprises me sometimes when I’ve lost track of the scent, I’ll make a movement and notice the rich sandalwood / cedar drydown, wafting up—eight hours after I applied it. Herrera for Men has long been one of my favorite fragrances. It is intelligently constructed, has beautiful aromas, controlled sillage, and excellent longevity. Rico suave, Carolina.

It was very nice for it's day but that day has long since come and gone. It is very sweet smelling, it could almost pass for a women's perfume but still has a touch of elegance. Many years ago I got one or two compliments with it, now it is over-played and outdated. This scent does not have the staying power of a classic.

Not much more to add. A very good, classy fouragee. I have Chanel's Platinum Egoiste and this frag is basically the same. Well, I have Realities as well, and I am pretty sure that if I combine 2 parts PE and 1 part Realities, I get this fragrance. Overall, very good frag for the money, opens up intensely, base is smooth and pleasant. A+

I smelled this one and like it but it dries to smell like Burberry London. Just my opinion. I also happen to like Burberry London.

Simple, common, as other 90's men fragrances. I really love Carolina Herrera men fragrances but not this one. I found it more a 70's kind of cologne than a modern one, though 70's are coming back succesfully into fragrance world today.

This was my first about ten years ago. Afterwards gone around and had others, but when Herrera for men was not in my wardrobe, I lacked something. I'm not able to comment on the complexity of the notes, but suffice to say, it's been one of the best I've ever come across. Citrus DOES NOT do it for me, but in this one, if DEFINITELY does. One of the only 2 imports I got for myself.

I love this one so much! Don't get me wrong, I like sweet frags (big fan of Pi) but after the top fades, this one is not that sweet at all. It's not too dry by any means, but the dryness and sweetness are perfectly combined. The clove is actually pretty mellow, and it smoothly blends right into the amber in the drydown. The clove (or is it ginger I smell?) sticks around for a long time, but gets more muted in the base. It's very strange to say, but it goes good with coffee on a cold morning.
I also think it's very similar to xs, but I give the nod to Herrera, just cause it's so much more vibrent.

Have you ever seen Carolina Herrera-okay, beautiful, classical, feminine and tasteful lady-and so is this perfume!Tasteful, classical, elegant and special. One of the great perfumes of the 90ties.You knew that Carolina Herrera´s perfume is fracas of robert Piguet-that matches!Carolina Herrera for men is classy, sexy but in small doses! Be careful if not it becomes too intense and sharp! In the right dosage it is fresh and cool-it si warm and cold-the right mixture of all ingredients!

Great package, predictable scent, given the name of the designer. Not bad, it is good value for money and interacts well on my skin, however i can't distinguish it from other typically Spanish and Mediterranean scents: in it you find the mixture of grapefruit and powdery notes from most Paco Rabanne scents, mingled with a hint of spaghetti- or pizza flavoruing herbs from Agua Brava, especially laurel. Even if neither grapefruit with a powdery drydown nor laurel ar listed as ingredient, the impression of both remained in my memory.

Thumb way up on this. This is one of my favorite men's fragrances. As a female, I find this fragrance sooo seductive and sexy. I bought some for my husband several years ago and wish I could persuade him to wear it more often, but I think the initial citrus just doesn't attract him. When he does occasionally wear it, I say, "What is that incredible scent you have on?" It turns so wonderful with his chemistry that I don't recognize it. He's actually more of an oriental guy, wore Obsession when I met him, and now reaches for Jaipur most often. Still...this one is perfect for him. Sexy but classy, and in the right dosage (meaning just a bit) -- devastating!

This concept has been done so much better so many times since 1991 that there really is no reason for buying this one. For superior woody tobacco spring for Dolce & Gabbana Ph or Burberry London intead. Outdated.

There is something about this I don't like, maybe the sharpness. That said, there is something about this I do like - probably the softer notes. Oddly, I bought a knock-off spray cologne of this stuff in a Dollar store that I much, much preferred. I bought the real thing, hoping it would be as good as the knock-off. The knockoff was softer, sweeter and more accessible. The formality of the real Ferrera, along with its sharpness, just doesn't work for me.

Herrera for Men has to be one of the classiest and elegant colognes for distinguished gentlemen. It has the right proportionate mix of the hard-edged and soft-edged scents. It hangs with you all day long and is not too overpowering. Great daily-wear cologne. Spray a little more on for an evening out. Herrera for Men IMO is the #1 ice breaker for meeting females for the very first time. Also, I agree with other colleagues, Herrera smell like Egoiste Platinum, but Herrera is better and it’s less expensive.

Unique and warm, smells like a cup of coffee sitting next to a cozy bowl of lavender and cedar potpourri. Not my thing really, but I do think it smells great, and the Vetiver version is even better!

A very distuingishable scent. I think it's very rare nowadays and one will get a lot of attention when wearing it. Musk, tobacco, amber- early nineties

Smells very formal to me. quite clovey on top and sharp, almost too much. the basenotes are a real pleasure though. One of those fragrances that I dislike the first half hour of, and then love for the rest of the day. Great tobacco note. I will agree, however, that it is not for everyday wear.

A very distinctive and floral fragrance (so much floral for me), it's known to be very appreciated by women (at least 2 girls I met used it). As it's very distinctive, it also tends to be very common and known (like Azzaro), as a first choice for presents from girlfriends/wifes.

I am shocked with the negative reviews of this fragrance...in my opinion it smells great...i love this..it smells very classy and sexy at the same time...my girlfriend loves this one...its spicy with a amber/woody drydown... i love this stuff...if your not a fan of this then maybe you should try 212...two diff genres by Carolina

Not everybody remembers this today, but fourteen years ago this was possibly the first launch of a major MALE fragrance by a FEMALE-NAMED design house. It was a big and daring marketing decision for its time. Scent-wise, the original polka-dot item has never been eclipsed, and the legend of this product still leds the marketing push to less exciting and more generic producs by Herrera.

This is truly the first ...that I'll ever develop an extreme aversion to. Top notes are too sweet and from the 2nd hour i start wondering if anyone can notice that i smell like a camel

Folks, It must be my nose, but the Clove note is too strong and annoying to me...I bought a 100ml bottle and I spent a lot of time to finish it!!!
Its smell produced the same effect Kouros did on me. Essencially, It's not my kind of scent!

Herrera for Men was my first "signature scent." A grand fougere, this scent is a classic. It'll always hold a special place in my memory as one that accompanied me to many a wonderful time painting the town red. Plus, I love the whole "dots" campaign.

I think of cloves every time I wear this scent. Versatile enough for the office, a night out or even casual. Good duration, but I tire of it quickly, it's a tad too harsh. Similar to Paco Rabbane XS, but I like XS a tad more, it's milder. Herrera for men is a thumbs up to be sure, though one day now and then is enough for me. Maybe I have burnout, I wore it every day for a couple of months years ago, so it did capture my heart.
The cap of the bottle intrigues me. The deep red/maroon seems boundless.

Herrera was my signature scent for a long time so this scent will always hold a special place for me.
It is a very classy scent and to me is perfectly balanced and could be worn anytime. The girls absolutely adore it also. I really like the tobacco note in it.

It has always been tagged as the scent for a man created by a woman. I must admit it is true I have not yet found one woman that would turn up their nose to this scent.
A real floral/woody blend that has a presence and makes you be noticed when worn.

I gave myself a shot of Herrera months ago while doing the rounds. Nice clean fougere. It's sneaking around in my top 20 somewhere.
