I hate citrus lemony synthetic scents, but If I have to choose one this will be
my choice.Fresh clean sour turns to sweet in the dry down which lasts.....
I still didn't like it but I can accept its a nice clean scent.

A classical citrus fragrance. Not better, nor worse than tens of other citrus colognes.

Maybe it's just me, well, probably just me but after the top and middle notes have settled, the base note really just smells like a wet green-tea bag, and I'm really not into that although I really liked the top note, as well as the middle note...

The silliage is great - when it lasts. On my skin, longevity is a factor for Issey... Some reviews have put it as long as 24 hours even after washing, but It's been six hours and I can't smell anything but the wet green teabag on my wrists. I can smell the flora and the initial freshness that Issey delivered six hours ago on my shirt, but that's not really where I want it to last.

L'Eau D'Issey gets a neutral.

Yes...I was taken in by all the positive talk of Issey Miyake....yes...I think it's nice...but nothing special...in fact i have gone off it slightly...It's another scent that is instantly recognised, which I think is a bit of a negative thing.I prefer the L'Bleu fraiche

Men and women alike really appreciate this scent. The top notes are almost pungent, but in a pretty way. It is kind of a pretty scent. Amazing in summer. AMAZING. In heat. But boring in fall. Nice in winter. That's how I experience it. Dry down is really something. Spicy fresh. Woody lemon. I really like the bottle too. Get it.

There’s one thing I’ve noticed about most newbie Basenoters – they usually tend to latch onto the ‘holy trinity’ of designer scents that, automatically, creates the perfect foundation for any man’s fragrance wardrobe: Le Mâle (cold weather), Envy for Men (special occasions and dates) and L’eau D’Issey (warm weather). Although these may not be the first three scents that a newbie Basenoter will purchase, chances are they will definitely be among their first 5-10 full-bottle purchases. I, myself, have been a victim of this ‘beginner’s crutch’ and it, admittedly, took me some time to bring myself to remove all three from my wardrobe without feeling even the slightest bit of remorse.

L’eau D’Issey was actually the final one that I managed to weed out. A good indication of its ‘superior’ quality compared to the other two, no? Well, not exactly (they’re all just as synthetic and flawed as each other). The fact is summer scents, with decent longevity, are incredibly difficult to come across (especially for those not in the know). Therefore, any reservations I had about L’eau D’Issey were put on hold due to its stronghold on my arsenal for warmer weather (which wasn’t particularly impressive back then). It was only after a period of time (during which I encountered better quality and longer lasting scents for spring and summer) that L’eau D’Issey eventually lost its grip and fully revealed itself for what it is – a highly synthetic and artificial smelling yuzu (grapefruit) composition with average lasting power.

From the very start, I always overlooked the fact that (upon application) it always made me sneeze; for a person who rarely suffers from migraines, for quite a while, I never questioned whether it was the sillage from L’eau D’Issey that was responsible for my subtle headaches; and I always found myself refusing to accept that its longevity wasn’t as great as originally thought (skin chemistry or olfactory fatigue were usually held accountable). Yes, the fear of not having something appropriate to wear on warm days worried me, and L’eau D’Issey successfully tapped into this fear and preyed upon it for quite some time. Now, luckily, those days are long gone…

L’eau D’Issey is a great starting point for any newbie but please bear in mind the hazards mentioned in the above paragraph. If nothing else, it does serve as a decent ‘starting out’ fragrance. Just don’t expect anything more from its shallowness, as your nose becomes more sophisticated, or you may end up being sorely disappointed.

I do not understand this fragrance. It smells good, but not in the way I want it too. It is a very cool fragrance. Imagine being in a pond with lillies in the spring.. That is the eviornment I invision when I smelll this.. Now I remember a post when a member said he gets compliments on this fragrance and I cannot imagine the amount of this light fragrance he would wear lol. HE must have been wearing his weight in D'Issey because other wise this does not seem to be very strong. But it does last, just unless you are really close to someone or unless you have a 24 oz application of this stuff it probably wont come off the skin much. The Lavender, amber and blue lily notes are great. IMO it comes off a little like salty water.. like the womens version. Idk about this one, maybe I shall return

Back in the days i wore a lot of issey miyake...it´s was a perfect fresh scent, but a lot of people got it now...so it´s nothing special anymore...but it is a nice fresh woody scent...sometimes a bit to sour...not my flavour right now...

L'Eau D'Issey pour Homme was so popular when it was released, everyone wanted to wear it. But I found it too floral, even till today. Here it is like a must-own fragrance for a certain group to be identified/belong. Recently I received a bottle as a gift, which I wore very seldom, smell great, but too common.

If you're a citrus-hater, avoid this. It's otherwise a good scent, but for me, the yuzu is just too much to render it unwearable. Hence the neutral review. After the piercing citrus note is gone, the drydown is pretty good. A couple of pretty girls at the gym today seemed to compete for the stepper next to me... It just might have been the charm of L'Eau D'Issey - who knows :)

Don't understand what the fuss is about. After the reviews and my collection growing I was expecting something oriental, clever, interesting, sweet, fresh, and inviting.

However all I got was a blast of citrus and a disgusting cheap womens perfume undertone.

Really dissappointed, this was on my shopping list, at the top, glad I tried before I bought.

Not saying don't buy it, just dont buy on hyp, try it first, its nothing special.

OK but not as great as advertised. This is not aristocratic Acqua di gio. Acqua di gio is aristocratic Issey Miyake - lets get that straight. It seems that IM has some annoying notes that ADG doesn't. The better, simpler scent wins because of what it doesn't have. Less is more in this case. Couldnt decide between up and neutral so it's neutral

This was my husband's first cologne and he really liked it (and still does) but when he discovered niche frags the Miyake went bye-bye! Now it's pretty much just Frederic Malle....ouch to the bank account!

I had many doubts about this scent, due to its huge fame, thinking: not another cheap smell sold under an expensive name. At first, i didn't smell anything- it reminded me of a very neural scent and almost of an ouourless substance. Before i ended thinking about this aspect, it became even worse- i had the feeling of smelling like overheated tea, with lots of honey in it, very little weak herbal essences used for tea and much more honey. But even this impression flew away fast and what remained was a pleasant aquatic drydown, which was comfortable to wear, yet was not much more specia tha the aquatic scents by fellow Japanese label Kenzo( to whom this one strinkingly resembles) or the equally well-known Boss Elements Aqua.

Issey is a nice but common fragrance. It's nothing but a combination of citrus mixed with some sweet notes (very light) and a woody base. It's a bit marine too, maybe because of its salty smell. Medium longevity here.

In my opinion (and that's pretty much all we can share here) Issey Miyake managed to do something unique with this scent. Although I find it appealing on others, it can give me a headache when I wear it myself. If this scent has a similar effect on you, I might suggest Issey's new Issey Bleu.

I liked it at one point, fresh, peppery, but the fascination with it wore away so quickly. I actually prefer the peppery scent of Bulgari Pour Homme.

I bought this blindly when I read that it was a better version of Weekend by Burberry. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and now I'm left with a bottle of cologne I only mildly like.

L'Eau D'Issey is a citrus fragrance unlike any other. The citrus notes are soured by the herbal and cypress notes, giving it a "salty" quality. It does smell extremely oceanic, like the Great Salt Lake if you've ever been there. The sour, salty quality in L'Eau D'Issey sometimes comes off smelling a little too strange and has given me headaches before. I rarely wear oceanic fragrances such as Issey and Kenzo, but I do keep them around for something a little different in the summer. Another downside to oceanic fragrances is that most women find them to be a turn-off, which may be an issue to some men. If you're looking for a nice, fresh aqua scent, look elsewhere.
