Love this. Starts off with a sharp and endearing bergamot and herbs. A heart of green vetiver and a light patchouli. The base remains the same sharp and crisp like texture from the top to the bottom into a vanilla moss. Excellent classic chypre. 06 November 2009

Wow! Hard to top foetidus' excellent review. This is a sparkling delight, especially suitable for the summer. Vetiver is an ingredient, but the virtue of this frag is NOT that 'this is a scent with vetiver for people who don't like vetiver.' ( Here's a stunning idea: If you don't like vetiver, don't wear vetiver.) The virtue is that--aw hell, just read anything posted in The Fragrance Forums on this juice by Scentemental. I was familiar with Esencia Lowe but not with this one. What a sleeper! Well, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Spaniards seem capable of creating only two kinds of fragrances; the very good or the very bad. This one is very, very good. 19 June 2009

As I searched for a replacement for defunct Dunhill Edition I came across a review somewhere that stated this fragrance had 'the same idea but executed far better'. Naturally I had to try this! Fortunately my local Perfume shop at the Rockland centre had it. What can I say : Lemon (lots and lots of it!), spice, anis and musk. Could be vulgar, but it isn't. If D.E. is the self-assured urban British gentleman of the power-hungry corporate eighties, Loewe pour homme is the Spanish aristocrat that becomes the matador whenever the need arises. This one I consider a sexy smell on account of the 'animal factor' in the juice. I'll admit I find it off putting at times (call me prudish) but I always get over it quickly. A unique fragrance to say the least, very hard to find here in Canada. Best for day wear IMO. BTW the juice is light green, not yellow, unlike in the picture shown here. 4.5/5 stars 01 April 2009

Lauder's brother? Not so much as a half-brother there, I'm afraid. No, the original formula of this dry, citrus-heavy Spanish chypre is much, much more closely related to Lacoste pour Homme. (Perhaps a "three-quarter sibling," LOLOLOL.) I see little or no resemblance to Coriolan, except perhaps in the dryness department. I see a bit of resemblance to Boucheron pour Homme, too, but only somewhat so. A bit hard to find in the States. 17 October 2008

I purchased this based on the positive reviews on this site. While it does have some appealing notes, there is a funky, much too earthy note that disagrees with my chemistry. 21 September 2008

This is definitely one nice smell when it first hits the skin. I love the way the petitgrain is utilized. This is a bracing, but sophisticated and smoothly fresh EDC type of opening. The mid notes are slightly woody, still rather fresh with a bit of floral and herbal undertones. Very masculine, but as foetidus notes, very fresh. This is a somewhat uplifting fragrance for me. I didn't know what to expect when people told me it was very Mediterranean; It's very lovely, fresh and sophisticated. The base has that lovely smell of freshly crushed tonka beans; one of my very favorite smells! Seems like a very good "daytime" scent, although I can't see how you could ever be out of place wearing it. 24 August 2008

Loewe pour Homme starts great. I sense the smell of old , but it is pleasant , not disturbing. And this same start is similar to Esencia's . And from here things go wrong. Where Esencia develops into a charismatic tell-apart-which-note-dominates-now killer, Loewe PH remains lemony. At least on my skin I imagine I resemble a lemon tree - this shold have been called Pour Lemon feel-likes, not Homme. Sometimes when i dive too deep i also imagine i smell the patchouli and the vetiver (which i always adore) , but then again the sweet lemon kills them all . It is a good fragrance , but Esencia is years ahead when it comes to harmony in the mixture. 19 July 2008

loewe, a very well-known spanish company for luxury goods presents with loewe pour homme a fresh, elegant and refined scent for a gentleman.very well composed, perfectly mixed and well balanced-a light and clean citrus scent that is really wellcome-masculine and virile but discret and distant.a subtle and fine fragrance for your daily use-and really spanish!Great and outstanding-and very comfortable!Olé!!! 20 May 2007

I don't know about what else this is SUPPOSED to smell like, but for what it is it's fantastic. Way better than overpriced tosh like Acqua Di Parma etc. They all, however can all be described as having that je ne se quoi 'Mediterranean' smell. This one is exceptional if you want to smell like you've just sailed to Barcelona, Tangiers, Ajaccio and Crete on your motor yacht. 27 April 2007

Some would definitely find it a bit straightforward and macho, but for me Para Hombre is manly, spicy, zesty and fresh, with just the right dose of animalistic notes. Mediterranean joie de vivre in a bottle. 24 April 2007

Solid opening—an excellent citrus / lavender / rosemary accord that is clean and wonderfully balanced. I think this is my favorite combination for a citrus opening and this one is excellently done. Also admirable is the fact that Loewe PH doesn’t seem to be as aggressive as its 1978 introductory date would indicate. That means that it fits nicely in today’s demand for reduced sillage and potency. The top notes are really fresh and bright, and the mid notes continue in that direction: the vetiver and sage makes sure of that. The floral notes in the mid level—geranium and carnation—do not seem at all floral: They are particularly non-heady in their sillage. The base is smooth and not at all heavy or dense. It remains light and fits beautifully with the first movements of the fragrance. I really like these Spanish fragrances. They project a lot of inner vitality and outer elegance. On my skin, Loewe PH does not turn at all super masculine or dark. It doesn’t show any of the breath-grabbing headiness of Coriolan, although its notes might be similar… On me, this one presents a manliness that is fresh and lively. 06 April 2007

Loewe pour Homme it's a very elegant, unique, clean and fresh scent. This is the typical mediterranean scent: timeless and masculine. Wonderful and a great secret tip; No mainstream scent!!! Loewe smell very similar to Lauder for Men by Estee Lauder but Loewe it's more warmer and sweeter in the dry down. Give a chance to this fragrance and you won't be disappointed. 10 March 2006

Yes, a 70's chypre, but surprisingly mellow and fresh. Comparable to Boucheron and Coriolan which means that it's a little on the bitter side. Would have loved a darker musk here. Overall, the scent feels incomplete. 16 January 2006

This one immediately struck me as the inverse of Czech & Speake No. 88 when I first sampled it. While 88 focuses more on rose with a secondary bergamot note, Loewe PH puts more emphasis on the bergamot and only slightly accentuates the rose note. It's a clean scent but just like 88, it's not really my cup of tea. 29 December 2005

"Sir, did you reach to the far back for your Coriolan once more?", my trust attendant inquired. "Why, no, though I can see the resemblance. This is my newly received Loewe Pour Homme; do you like it?" "Indeed! Very classy that one is." Wow, is this Spanish EDT ever nice! A crisp, refreshing citrus opening is followed by a floral/herbal middle, and then a subtle ambery musk follows! Very harmonious, this classic scent from 1978! Wicozani 24 September 2005

This is a great citrus chypre scent. Reminds me mostly of Homme de Grès and a bit of Boucheron. The base is better than both however and I think this is because it contains tonka beans. It's rich, classy, formal, manly yet fresh. A great discovery, thanks to Marlen! 01 September 2005

Well, blunt my beard with a rusty razor! Twin of Lauder, Jack of Diamonds, cat of nine tails, grunt of macho, bulge of biceps, citrus-spicy-mean. (de Charlus). 15 August 2005
