Nightflight (1992)

Nightflight is a nice spicy/aromatic citrus with an oriental dry down that smell a little more expensive than what its price point out. It has an opening based in a bitter orange + spicy pineapple combo that then, turns into an oriental dry down based in a balsamic sandalwood/amber base.
Very versatile and aromatic indeed , Nightflight has become almost in my go-to scent.
you can´t go wrong with this!

This one was a very good surprise, I wasn't expecting a fragrance that good.

Nightflight opens up with a citric note accompanied by lavender and an extremely synthetic combo that I couldn't identify.

In the drydown, pineapple, the star of this fragrance appears leaving a wonderful impression even being too synthetic, proving that a note doesn't need to be natural to smell good! Oh, that note is followed by floral notes too, but they aren't too strong, thanks god. Anyway, a very good bang for your buck, fragrance!

I really enjoy this fresh and sparkling fragrance. It's something you can wear on almost any occasion and any time of the year. I would classify this as a romantic fragrance. Although it has powerful sillage and excellent longevity and the top notes hit you like a hammer, the drydown mellows into something that will bring you back again and again. My favorite Joop fragrance and one that's worth adding to anyone's collection.

Quite an entertaining fresh fougere in the style of Cool Water - it also happens to be much better than Cool Water, at least the current formulation.

This is synthetic but soft and well-blended. The cumin note gives the fragrance an intriguing saltiness, and only smells like cumin if you really concentrate.

I find sillage and longevity modest, which is surprising for a Joop! fragrance. An endearing, attractive, well-composed fresh scent that's impossible to dislike.

Not bad. I detect a certain resemblance with Cool Water which is drier and less floral. This is a fruity-floral woody scent based on lavender with ozonic traces and a spicy temperament. It's fresh and romantic because of the massive floral presence. I detect a neroli-citrusy masculine lavender at opening which is full of floral nuances. The woody ambery dry down is enriched by a cumin note that expresses itself as a pungent, airy and a bit acid feature. The longevity and the projection are impressive as usual for Joop.

Nightflight is a generic Frankenstein's Monster comprised of Eau de Rochas Homme's green citrus top with the spicy ocean blue body of Animale's Azul and the intriguingly odd pineapple aquatic effect employed by Bijan's Wicked. Though Nightflight predates all three of these, it doesn't come across as well as any of them. It's pleasant from afar and the sandalwood and pineapple combo is nicely done, but the whole thing is synthetic in an unfortunately nasty way that makes the fragrance oppressive in public.
