Reviews of Nine Flags: Ireland - Green Moss

Ireland - Green Moss opens with a breath of fresh lime and lavender, quickly making way for an accord of moss and spices --- bay leaf, clove, cinnamon --- along with a touch of carnation and heliotrope. A hint of musk underscores the base, making the overall compostion one of understated simplicity. I think of it as a casual "weekend" scent --- more for daytime than evening, and ideal for a walk in the countryside (tweed cap optional) or by the ocean, ending up at a neighborhood pub for a Guinness or to listen to a local band featuring bodhran, pennywhistle and uilleann pipes. Nothing fancy or pretentious here --- straightforward, traditional, low-key and very pleasant.

As a young man I was given the whole set and used most of them. They provided a fine introduction to the world of fragrance and were (in memory now) very well made. I recall the Irish scent, green in color (what else?). It was light, slightly sweet and distinguised, a bit like the old Caswell-Massey Greenbriar. It did not last long; none of them did. The bottles were lovely little spheres.
