rochas man is very smoky, creamy bitter coffee scent...you could find it to be similar to an extent with the jacomo Rouge, but i would prefer jacomo anytime over the Rochas man. i do not understand the comparison between Rochas Man and A*Men...A*Men is bone dry and its gourmand qualities is so well blended that one would not even call it Gourmand.

im not a huge fan of such gourmands, maybe our climate(Humid) doesnt support these kinda scents..become quite cloying...please try before u buy.

I really love this fragrance. When I first sprayed it on, I wasn't to excited. However, over a few hours it grew on me. I purchased a bottle and I'm very happy with it.

A nice, sweet scent. As soon as I sprayed it on, I thought "Neapolitan flavored ice cream." Probably the mix of vanilla and chocolate. I also thought it smelled a bit feminine, and even checked the packaging to make sure it was, in fact, a fragrance for men.

After a while though, it really grew on me and I started to really appreciate the nice, warm aroma surrounding me. It is sensual, while at the same time being upbeat and playful. Definitely a fragrance for the younger guys.

Longevity is great. Just two sprays lasted me more than 12 hours and it had pretty decent sillage.

wow, tried it today on my wrist and blew me away at first.
VERY potent stuff and for the first couple of minutes i had the unpleasent feeling of standin in one of those carneval shop with all the candy floss, caramelised almond and apples etc but suprisingly quickly it settled down to a delicious comforting smell, i think that describes it best, delicious. il have to spend more time with it but that is definitely going to go into my collection as one the the VERY few gourmands i actually really like!
i would recommend it for winter use though, too heavy and "creamy" for summer IMO
Thumbs Up anyway

Excellent gourmand. I accidentally bought some of the aftershave and find it to be very versatile for layering with any other gourmand fragrance out there. Coffee and vanilla. Love them both.

Rochas Man was my first gourmand experience and it remains a favorite. Mocha and vanilla are prominent here and while the presentation is sweet, I do not find it to be excessively so (I do not like excessively sweet scents). I prefer this to Bond’s New Haarlem, which is similar, but darker and less sweet. To my nose, I get a tinge of anise in the opening. It isn’t listed in the notes and perhaps it is just my perception of the opening accord. Anise is something I am not fond of, but it is very light here, and I actually like it. This dissipates quickly and the mocha and vanilla dominate, anchored by green notes in the background. It sounds incongruous but it actually works quite well. Great longevity. Very sexy!

I feel this is quite masculine for a gourmand. I think it's the mocha in the dry down that keeps me coming back. I woke up one morning with the phantom smell of this frag in my nose. And like a song stuck in my head, I had to put it on to appease my mind.

There's a contrast between the vanilla and mocha that makes this frag so enjoyable to me. Sometimes I feel it's on the verge of being cloying, but it hasn't reached there yet.

New Haarlem is very similar to this, although NH is alot more complex and refined, ie creamier and more "real" smelling, it's really difficult to differentiate unless they're side by side. Since RM is much cheaper, this one is definately the smarter buy. I like this gourmand scent, but I find Lolita Lempicka the more unique choice as far as gourmands go. Although both get alot of attention from the opposite sex.

I bought this due to a lot of recommendations and it is a very tasty cologne. I say tasty cause if you wear it when you're hungry you'll probably eat your arm off or have girls bite your neck. My girlfriend used to wear a body splash that smelled a lot like this I think it was like warm vanilla sugar or something just to give you an idea of what you're looking at. I gave it a thumbs up cause it smells great but the only bad thing it doesn't last very long on my skin at all.

This is the perfect gourmand not as strong as A*Men or as sour as H.M.. I think this is the scent of attraction a wonderful potion, will get you tons of compliments from everyone a must try.

Aside from the bottle looking like an awkwardly pointy phallus, this is a great cologne that definitely is a hit with the women. Not overly sweet or cloying, but if you prefer lighter/warmer non-spicy scents, this should be a definite buy.

A lovely gourmand that oozes sex appeal. I find the caramel creaminess of this easier to wear and admire than the harsh and unpleasant A*Men. Unfortunately, it very quickly stays too close to the skin and its longevity is not as good as it could (and should) be.

Still worth investigating, though.

Without a doubt, the best gourmand fragrance. The composition is perfectly balanced so that this is probably the only 100% sweet scent that doesn't become either cloying overbearing. This should become the landmark for all the designers that want to create very pleasant and wearable sweet or gourmand fragrances.

Wow!!! I love it. Mocha and vanilla together to create a beautiful smell of rich coconut and coffee. You can wear it either on summer or winter. It reminds me a little of Roma for women by Laura Biagiotti though it doesn't make it a feminine fragrance. I love Rochas.

This fragrance reminds me a lot of Pi from Givenchy. The only note that I could smell after 20 minutes is the vanilla. Its longevity is similar to Pi as well. I like both of them very much though. I only have a 1ml decant of this, so I probably won't buy this because I already have Pi. Great fragrance though.

This is a nice gourmand with a strong sweet vanilla emphasis in the dry down. Perhaps, Rochas Man is not the most masculine scent, but it is very nice just the same. This is my 3rd favorite Gourmand.

Good news!
This marvellous fragrance is on the market again. At least in Hungary, I see it everywhere, especially testers are available! I don't know whether they are from previous stock but this fragrance wasn't available here for long and now it is! :)
Pack it!

BIG thumbs up, but get it while you can -- Rochas is no more.

I don't have much experience with gourmands in general at this time, but I have begun to acquire a degree of breadth in my fragrance wardrobe and Rochas Man has a firm and secure spot in my collection. Warm, comforting, casual and fun, I can use RM whether I'm heading out to a friendly party, having a nice casual evening out with a lady, or even on casual fridays at the office.

It is definitely a sweet scent, but it is smooth. It projects well with good sillage, but without being overbearing (if applied intelligently!). I get great longevity with RM, and although I can't say it develops or changes too much over the hours, it's such a comfortable and fun scent that I don't mind!

It's a scent that I think suits a younger man, or at least one who has the heart of one! Fun, casual, and long-lasting. Chocolatey, warm, and mellow. Though it is a simple pleasure, it is always decidedly a pleasure to wear!

I very rarely give a thumbs down but this seems like a good idea gone bad. I know that Rochas Man (which I don't like) is a gormand and so is A Man (which I ver much DO like), but that's where the similarities end for me so I won't even waste time describing why they are different.

Rochas Man immediately smells sour and burnt, YES, like burnt sugar combined with the sourness of coffee left scorching in the pot. The green of the opening confuses the situation. Yes it calms down but always retains this sharpness that I can't appreciate. I also really don't like the bottle. For me this is a disaster from start to finish.

Yucky! Too sweet, too gourmand!

I can smell JOOP (ew), A*Men (also ew), and something else...Drakkar Noir, all together in one!

Not for me; I like my coffee to drink, my chocolate to each, and Drakkar Noir to stay where it is currently: the magical land of Obscurity...

Man, this perfume is just perfect! I first tested it about three years ago and just forgot about it. I liked but didn't include on my wish list. But then, out of the blue, the scent of it came to me and I just had to buy it! It took me a long time to find it here in São Paulo, Brazil. People told me that Rochas wasn't producing perfumes anymore (can anyone confirm this for me?).

The fragrance is very delicate and gourmand. The top notes are very green, but they fade very fast. Then comes the special part... the coffee and vanilla notes stay on your skin for a long time... They are not strong notes, but everyone who comes next to you will feel them and ask you: "Man! What a perfume!"

Lovely!

"Rochas Man" was my perfume of choice on my wedding day back in 1999. I wanted the scent to echo the sweetness of the ceremony and the sentiment of the day... and even now some 8 years later, the olfactory memory is as vivid as ever.
This is a fragrance that embraces the rousing nose of sugared almonds, chilled coffee and vanilla ice cream. Although its gourmand tonalities make "Rochas Man" comparable to Gaultier's "Le Male" and Mugler's "A*men", - it has a pureness and clarity that is more understated than these.
Some might write this fragrance off as 'syrupy sweet', however its complexity is evident when radiant lavendar and warm amber accords dominate on the drydown. It projects very well, and has generous staying power.
A great fragrance for all casual or intimate occasions.

Definitely an occasion specific frag. The only time I could wear this is with a familiar lover and then only if she enjoyed it. Very sensual and

When I wore it for the first time, I immediately thought of Hani Mori, but all of the references to A*men prompted a side by side test. A*men is considerably harsher than Rochas and Hani Mori has much more citrus in the top notes. The dry downs between Mori and Rochas are very similar and A*men still trying to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up.

Rochas Man is many of what has already been suggested, but the sweetness is tempered nicely whereas Hani Mori's sweetness is quite louder. I'd give the edge to Rochas, but then the ultimate decision would be that of my Girlfriend.

Quite not the frag I'd wear to a hockey or football game, nor to a board meeting or a night out with the guys.

Smells quite a lot like Bond's New Haarlem, or rather New Haarlem smells like Rochas Man. They have the same perfumer behind them, so it makes sense. It's a sweet scent that smells like a mix of coffee, vanilla, and cocoa. It's not as complex as New Haarlem, or Angel Men for that matter. It's not as sweet as New Haarlem, and by the standards of many of today's oriental fragrances, it's not even all that sweet. It's relatively simple, and dries down to a very comfortable and soft, but still rich, gourmand scent. Totally unisex. Very nice scent, especially if you like gourmands.

Of course the ladies love it!

Every woman I know is either on a diet, struggling with a diet, or about to go on a diet.

You'll be temptation incarnate.

Much better than the godawful chemical warfare A*Men and the rather bland H. Mori.

Won't compare it to Jo Malone's Black Vettiver Cafe or lesser known gourmands. Rochas is good enough to warrant a try.

The notes listed on my bottle differ slightly from those listed here (Heart: Cedar and Jasmine, Base: Coffee, Sandalwood, and Amber). Whatever's in it, it's terrific. It's one of the few overtly sweet scents that I really enjoy.

Rochas Man seems to be aimed at the same market as Angel Men, but Rochas Man doesn't have the Tonka overload that I think makes Angel Men quite nasty. Instead, it smells like coffee with a lot of cream and sugar, or maybe a coffee milkshake.

Although New Haarlem smells a lot like Rochas Man, Rochas Man came first, which should count for something. It's also much cheaper, which definitely counts for something. It's longevity could be better, but it's enough-4 hours or so on me.

You know what this is? It's Mira Bai with lavender substituting for the MB's cassis. RM is even gentler than the women's version of Hanae Mori. I'd very much like to be in the presence of a man or woman who wears RM, but I don't see owning a bottle for myself or my husband because it's a little too simple. Clearly a thumbs up though.

What a nice creation from Rochas fashion house! A well balanced gourmand, never cloying, mixes perfectly the vanilla, chocolate and coffee notes in a cosy and warm scent. It's versatile and sexy without being a "powerhouse".

It took me a while to appreciate this one—I didn’t take to gourmands very easily, but Rochas Man is one that helped make me a convert. The lavender and chocolate and coffee and vanilla accords are just plain great smelling now that I accept them as scents rather than food. Rochas Man is beautifully structured and has an excellent progression from chocolate to floral to coffee. The dry down is rich and full. Since they are similar, Rochas Man is destined to be compared to A*men, and I believe that RM can stand up to the comparison. It is neither as complex nor as rich as A*men, but this is actually an advantage in my opinion—Rochas Man can be flamboyant but it is also capable of being more discreet and, therefore it is much more adaptable than A*men. Also, RM has that wonderful coffee note: Drink up! A quality and wearable fun fragrance.

This is one of my very favorites. Rochas Man is a really well made fragrance which dosen't get the attention it deserves on basenotes. It's a great clubbing scent, hip & casual and totally different to 90% of the stuff out there (citrus, aquatic, spicy, woody scents).

For me it's somewhere inbetween Amen, but less chocolatey and more refined, and Hanae Mori, but bolder, without the fruit and less refined.

I've been told that it has some similarity to Le Male (perhaps due to the lavender and vanilla)but i can't detect that myself. The best part of this cologne is the caramel, chocolatey, coffee drydown which is really smooth and gives excellent silage.

It's warm, it's relaxing, the bottle is ultra-cool and i condiser this one of my better buys of a collection of 30+ colognes.

The only negative about these types of fragrances are that they can become sickly IF overused. I'd recommend this for evenings and weekends, not "the office".

Starts off with a rich, buttery chocolate note. Then after awhile, the sweet lavender notes intertwine with the chocolate. Creating an aura of subtle beauty, like two graceful dancers. It last forever, girls will faint.

I'm not so much into Rochas scents, but this one is pleasant to smell, even if not to be worn; at least not by me. A little too much sweet, honey and winter-spice notes for my taste, but otherwise a nice combination. Another scent reminding of incese sticks made of sandalwood, yet not as offensive like A Men, with whom i would compare this one due to the same powdery, syrup quality, even if i like this a little better. Mixture of sweetness and dark notes also resembling of Allure Homme and Hugo Dark Blue, even a little fruity pineapple, apple touches in Boss Bottled style. Just can't decide if I should start using this one or avoiding it completely.

Visiting my friend Marcel in his sanatorium the other day, I was accompanied by his valet Andre. Andre had thoughtfully brought his ailing master a bottle of Rochas Man as a gift but I feared the worst.
'Andre,' I suggested, 'do you not perhaps feel that the sweet, rich gourmand fumes of Rochas Man might prove a little too much for Monsieur Marcel? I am in good health but, even so, I find the concatenation of flavours contained in Rochas Man rather sickly and jarring. I fear that Marcel, in his overwrought state of nervous debility, could well suffer a relapse at the merest whiff of such a perfume.'
'No worries, Monsieur Nitram,' Andre reassured me, 'it'll buck him up no end. Everyone knows that Rochas Man is the only Rochas fragrance that can make your actual girlies gurgle. One squirt of the old scenteroony and Monsieur Marcel will be right as rain, fighting off the nurses and the lady doctors. Hubba hubba, Doctor Dora, care for a saunter down the old Palais de Danse? Know what I mean, Monsieur Nitram? It'll be a real tonic!'
My fears, alas, were soon confirmed: at the first whiff of Rochas Man, Marcel's pale features convulsed with horror and he fainted clean away. 'Oh well,' said Andre philosophically, 'you win some, you lose some. Perhaps what he really needed was a drop of the old Lolita Lempicka?'

Rochas man is a seductive player on my roster. It will get attention for sure. I needed a scent in this catagory and amen is just a little too popular around my way sooo HM or rochas man and I chose rochas I'm satisfied with it. I will run out of it very soon and I will have to decide again and maybe I will go with hm this time just to change up. But saying nothing bad about rochas because I do like it. Besides it has knocked dreamer and envy to the back of the dresser. Mocha and burn sugar ,ummm and something else that is good and I can't describe that makes this a wonderful scent

The sales person told me that the department store staff call this "sex in a bottle" - given my track record with women, this would also make it "miracle in a bottle".
Sadly, there was no miracle.
While I think the chocolate/coffee concept is clever and sounds good on paper (as with A*Men), I have decided I will consume them rather than try to smell like them.

this scent, to me, spells TROUBLE in big, bold, red letters. It is terribly sexy on any man, and I associate it with a guy I was involved with who addmittedly was an awesome lover - but an awesome heartbreaker. I find scent to be a huge turn-on, I know to stay away from it if I want to control myself. Yup, the effect is that strong *sigh*.

This one frequently gets compared to A*Men, because it is one of the handful of scents that people turn to when looking for a chocolatey fragrance. Personally, I like this one just a tad bit better than A*Men because it is more versatile. It's not quite as complex, but for all A*Men's complexity, it seems to be overwhelmed by the chocolate. Rochas Man has a distinct chocolate note, but during the drydown it is toned down by vanilla and floral scents. As a result, it's not quite as bold as some other similar gourmands and thus ; however, it's suitable for that environment, and is superior to, say, A*Men as an everyday/casual scent. If you like chocolate and want to wear it every day, give this one a try! And if you don't like it, at least you can sell the bottle as some sort of kinky sex device...

One of the best gourmands. It's easier to wear than A*men IMO because it lacks the tar note that puts many people off of it. However, while Rochas Man starts off quite pleasant, the drydown gets a little flat and syrupy on me. I like A*men better because it stays crisp and 'alive'. Nonetheless, if you're looking for a good chocolate scent, this fits the bill quite nicely.

This weekend I received this and Must Homme in a blind purchase. I could not be any happier with Rochas Man. I absolutely love it. It has bumped out another fragrance to enter my "top 5" list. I am a vanilla/gourmand/oriental nut anyway and I feel that this one is (thus far to me) one of the best of the catagory. Rochas man is very warm and inviting. The "lastability" seems to be pretty good too, but I am not sure about the sillage. I do, however, feel that this is a fragrance that will polarize people...you most likely either love it or hate it. If you tend to not like gourmands or vanilla scents you will most likely not like Rochas Man. Likewise if you often find fragrances to be too sweet for your liking. Rochas Man smells to me fairly similar to Hanae Mori H.M. but even better as it doesn't have that slight touch of orange or citrus that H.M. has. So, I would say that if you typically like only aquatic or green fragrances you probably won't like this, but if you like orientals especially gourmands or vanillas then you will more than likely really enjoy this one...I know I sure do.

The fragrance that kept my girlfriend sniffin'. Rochas Man is similar to A*Men, but is not quite as different/harsh, not to mention this one is easier on the wallet. A must for anyone who digs the smell of chocolate and coffee, it truly does remind me of sipping a hot chocolate in a hip cafe.

Rochas Man is a nice gourmand. It’s a blend of coffee (I think it’s listed as “Mocha” on the pyramid). It’s smooth and creamy compared to most gourmands (HM, A*Men, etc). It’s also a bit safer than most. Angel, for example has a patchouli note that can be off-putting to some, and HM has a citrus note that is unusual for most gourmands. Rochas Man doesn’t really have any unique aspects, and isn’t terribly innovative. It is rather pleasant, though. It’s a very ‘safe’ gourmand.

One of the so-called gourmand fragrances spawned to compete with Thierry Mugler’s Angel Men, Rochas Man from the once couturier House of Rochas is often held up as a more evolved, or superior iteration. While I would agree that it is a much more refined fragrance than Animale Animale – the first chocolate based fragrance, I think it falters next to the star of Angel Men.

It is a fairly strong fragrance with an illusory softness. It opens already dominated by chocolate, its soft floral topnotes coated with a powdering of dutch cocoa. It has a full-bodied bitter-sweetness touched with espresso and vanilla . On the whole the feel is velvety but quite potent. On drydown the chocolate note softens, becoming smoother: from cocoa powder to warm cocoa. The spiciness remains bittersweet, the coffee pungent. It ends simply as chocolate milk, sweet and rich with vanilla.

It is a pleasant fragrance, almost a comfort food. I had bought it thinking to use it in the day, but it ended as an evening relaxation fragrance. On the whole I find it a bit one note, too dominated by chocolate, too static. On repeated uses I am finding it to be a bit overbearing. I think that it might make a good nightclub fragrance.

When I first tried it I thought it was far too sweet with not enough spice in it. I ended up buying it since I love vanilla scents. A couple of months down the line I got a bit fed up with it since everybody wears it these days! The scent itself is nice very close to being perfect but something seems to be missing that ruins everything!!! If it wasn't for that mocca in the base u wouldn't be able to distinguish it from Le Male (JPG).I'd personally prefer something more individual...

A well made fragrance. It is far superior to the more expensive Angel man. Both have the coffee, chocolate notes but Rochas Man is a smooth refined sweetness where Angel is chaotic and confusing. Its great Rochas scents arent found in the mall anchor stores, making them more exclusive. Their packaging and bottles are funky too! This scent helped me get a little "friendly" with a dancer at a local club. "wink"

This fragrance is like many other quasi-gourmond fragrances out there in that it has many edible qualities about it, BUT it is still sufficiently unique from the others (i.e. Le Male, Angel, HM, etc.) to merit a trial. It has its own unique nature and is indeed a sensual delight to wear.
