For a scent named SAMOURAI, this is hardly cutting edge. It starts off fresh, finds some mild cedar and then fades to light vanilla - all within 3 hours. Rather simple and easygoing though a harsher critic might call it an attempt at minimalism gone wrong.

Based on word of mouth, I wanted to like this more, but I basically smell a nice mild aquatic that dries down into vanilla. For fans of vanilla, this is probably great, but it's one of my least favorite fragrance backbones, so I can't really enjoy it.

Reminds me of Canali's line of frags especially Black Diamond (which is awesome). A good cologne without it going overboard. Fresh woody with a bit of vanilla.

Fresh and deliciouswith a fruity, creamy opening. The fruit lasts but combines with floral and leather notes (maybe the tarragon)on the drydown reminding me of Joop but more complex.
I love this fragrance-it moves from fresh and invigorating to sexy and sensual and on me it lasts well too. This one's a winner!

For me its the best everyday's scent for almost all kind of occasions. Brilliant, sparkling, sexy, modern while not pushing or follwoing a particular trend. I am always returning to Samourai and its for me the closest of being the signature scent. Its not easy to grab hold of it. Its among the top selling fragrances in Japan!
Its the first one of my top ten:
Samourai by Alain Delon> for being the best everyday scent
Elements by Hugo Boss> for being the perfect autumn smell
Green Jeans by Gianni Versace> for being the ultimate outdoors smell
Sport de Paco rabanne> for being the perfect springtime fragrance
Vetyver by Fragonard> for being the perfect summer scent
AD by Alain Delon> for being the very first and surviving all the way. Brilliant in the winter
Bijan men by Bijan> for having the comfortable, warm aura of home
LHomme by Gianni Versace> for smelling like perfect summer glamour
Egoiste Platinum by Chanel> for being the perfect cool gentlemen fragrance
Salvatore Ferragamo> for smelling like grandmas backgarden

Just missed the top ten>

One of the scents i consider neutral, both as rating and as actual scent and lasting power. Not bad, with bearable green and vetyer notes, still, after a while i seem to smell only the tarragon among the listed ingredients and its herbal coolness, but that's about it. Plus it developes a very indecisive, tough not unplesant, sweetness of an almost unperceptible and very apid sort. I would compare this to Jil Sander for men, both in smell and extremely short-lived lasting power. Visually, the box and the bottle almost seem to compensate, if not its flaws, that its overdone simplicity.

The first time i came across this fragrance i thought it was just going to be another fresh aquatic type of scent. But i was in for a surprise. This fragrance truly has a unique twist on freshness, it's peppery, sweet and floral. The pepper really adds some sexiness to this one, with all these elements combined it somehow still managed to have that fresh feel, a top of the line fresh oriental indeed. Superb!!

Clean, fairly bright scent that reminds me a lot of Joop's Nightflight scent. It starts out brightly, then dims down like a candle, though with the same essence. Has an aquatic quality to it, but it all depends on how the smeller interprets it, I think. Love the curvy bottle (reminds me of Chopard's Casran with its ergonomic design :-)) and blue colored liquid. Give it a whirl!

A beautiful fragrance. Fresh and aquatic with a strong rose scent that is very well blended and not completely dominant. Takes all the best elements of floral and aquatic scents and mixes them in a way that is just wonderful.

Remarkably fresh! Just one spritz on my wrist as I was walking out to my vehicle on a cold winter night, and WHOOOOOSH! It is a very, very unique oriental fragrance. It almost seems that the chilly air amplified it. More of the floral sweetness was evident. It makes me think of a Katana blade slicing through the frigid air on a starry winter night. I purchased a half full tester bottle for a mere $4.00 at a Discount Perfumery store. Great bargain, as this fragrance is quite difficult to locate. The elegant bottle and silver colored top are really classy too. This is a fragrance collectors "best kept secret" type of fragrance. BIG thumbs up!

Excellent light fresh oriental (although quite rare thing in fragrance world). Floral start points to brisk sharp heart note of spice. Mellows to vanilla and woody undertones in the base. Lasts forever. Definitely you can't go wrong with it. Perfect versatile everyday fragrance for both office and casual daytime purposes.

This is a GREAT scent. It IS different for a scent that is both fresh and warm. It has a very unique (bend) on a marine type scent. This is going to get you a lot of compliaments, and make you "feel" good, while wearing it. Try this one.

Something disagreed with me about this scent from the very start and I still can't say what exactly it was. I'm sure it has a certain following, but I didn't find it as original as some of Delon's other items.

Well said, Mark! Samourai is indeed unique.A fresh floral oriental. Some will think it's a bit feminine, but the special spice blend counterbalances this.
