Scotty McClintock opens like a combination of pancake syrup and cognac. It's amazingly thick, deep, and rich. Only after a few hours, when it dries down a bit, do you really start to smell individual notes. The citrus and cider don't seem to play a big part in this. The musk, vanilla, and amber hold syrupy court on the sandalwood, and the herbs and spices float and dance above them. These herbs and spices have a floral feel to them, and contrast well with the dark sweetness that lies beneath. Well into the development the floral vibe goes away and just leaves woody pancake syrup.

too sharp i could not wait for the drydownas i immeadiately washed the sample off and properly disposed of it in the backyard.very rich scent that has characteristics older gentlemen might like but not for the under 30 crowd.

Wow. Piercing herbal notes dominate the opening. There's some kind of spacey-woody-floral thing going on, too. This feels like a quirky niche fragrance from Keiko Mecheri. After letting this settle it begins to state that it is indeed not harsh but a gentle giant of spicy musk with great longevity but is very sensual in that it stays close to the wearer.

To my nose, the herbaceous notes dominate this fragrance for much of its movement. The opening citrus lasts only a short time and then the spices join with the herbaceous notes to create a pleasant and comfortable ambiance. In its heart, the fragrance reminds me a bit of Carolina Herrera’s 212. In the dry down, the wood, musk and moss at first stay in the background to provide a rich depth, and then they gradually blossom to dominance in a full wonderful traditional base. There’s not a lot of sillage with this fragrance—but it does have body and presence on the skin. The richness and balance of the dry down alone earns this fragrance a thumbs up—it is excellent. Very good longevity.

This is a very nice woody citrus fragrance, quite different from the usual citrus we have today.
This one is very refined, with a powdery edge.
It shares some of Boucheron qualities, without the razor sharp verbena citrus note.
The scent is rounded with the vanilla and musk.
It starts very strong, but mellows within 45 minutes to a superb balance, with good longevity.
    Very nice!
