The top notes are too harsh and the drydown is very long lasting and good , but I was expecting much more from this. 31 July 2008

For those who don't like this, I suggest trying Cuba Gold (if you like the idea of a vanilla/tobacco frag). Won't cost you much and it doesn't have that "synthetic" top note issue that Dreamer does, but it does have decent longevity and sillage. 28 July 2008

i discovered this about 10 years ago when i was in college and fell in love with it. i am a woman, but i find this scent to be very unisex, personally. it's not too masculine nor too feminine. it honestly sits right there in the middle. it's crisp and tobacco-y and i love it. it was my signature scent for years, and now i only wear it occasionally, but it continues to be a favorite. 11 June 2008

I wore this once to an exciting day at the museums. That's not being sarcastic, I love museums, however, this cloying scent just depressed the mood. I'm not blaming the whole day on it but as a subjective matter I won't like this. SLightly spicy with vanilla, it lingers around a while. I don't enjoy this but I like its woody base with tobacco. I don't think this has stood the test of time... even if it's only a decade old. 04 June 2008

I've only worn this for a few years but I'm glad a woman I worked with told me to try it. As with most people I agree the top notes start off strong but once it settles down it is absolutely wonderful and the drydown is absolutely one of the best around. I've had people, even other men tell me they don't like wearing fragrances but have asked what I am wearing because they love the smell of this. This was after 2 or 3 hours of my having the fragrance on, not at the beginning though. I will wear this continually for it is one of my favorites and is my favorite by this fragrance house. 22 May 2008

The dreamer is wonderful. If you like le Male and wear it well, the Dreamer should work for you also. Beware the strong gin & tonic tarragon topnotes, but the middle and base are wonderful wonderful wonderful. a little is enough 22 May 2008

I like tobacco smell so i put it on whenever i see on a shelf and enjoy sniffing on my wrist. On meit smells like it does in the bottle; a lot of tobacco with a bit iris and amber; nice but too masculine for a lady. Last week i had my husband next to me when i saw it on a perfumery shelf and while putting on me i give him a try. I cannot buy myself such a masculine fragrance but would be great if he liked and bought one i thought. but no chance. On him it was awful. No tobacco no amber. Just a disturbing intricate smell you find in an old pharmacy lab. Disappointed... The conclusion; do not buy it without trying or buy as a gift.... 07 May 2008

Not sure with this one. I like the warmth of the basenotes, but it takes quite a long time to get there and even then it's a little cloying. I would prefer to wear Cristobal PH, when I'm wanting something sweet and sexy. Kaern 14 April 2008

I used to like this and I have worn it many times, but those times have gotten fewer and fewer along the way to never. There’s something about the top notes that I am no longer comfortable with; there is a note in it that is quite synthetic, but it’s not that exactly; it could also be the combination of lavender and tarragon, but whatever it is, it became more and more annoying each time I wore it. The note doesn’t annoy me to the extent of my wanting to scrub it off; it’s just that I would rather spend my time smelling something better—which would be just about anything. Once the top notes are finished, Dreamer gets better. The heart notes are very nicely floral augmented by tobacco—a very enjoyable accord. And the drydown provides a balanced use of the tobacco in an excellent woody base. Dreamer used to be on my almost-a-favorite list, but nowadays I really don’t enjoy it. 09 March 2008

I truly wanted to love this cologne. And the bottle is so beautiful... But there is something about this cologne that agitates me and gives me a headache after an hour...this particular element of The Dreamer smells overbearingly sweet. I wouldn't say that that element smells effiminate - I could never imagine a woman wearing this cologne - but the best way I can put it, is that this element is pulled of very well by metrosexual dandies and gay men. But I wouldn't say this this cologne is especially suited to dandies of gay men. The smell itself is nice enough - but there is just something about it that really agitates me, and I can't really figure out what it is. I tried to palm it off onto a very close gay friend of mine at work, but he found that particular element/note unerving as well... Perhaps its the lily-orris-amber-synthetic tonka accord. Those notes seem to dominate too much. Otherwise, I like this cologne as much as is possble, factoring in my other issues with it. I wish I could love it, but neither myself nor any of my male friends can pull it off at all. P.S. No matter what this note pyramid says here on basenotes, I must insist that it should include "synthetic tonka". Cheers. 03 July 2007

After the fruity opening, it settles down to the smell of a freshly opened pack of cigs. 23 May 2007

The name sound extremely promising, but the outcome is, in my opinion, only a moderate success. A certain herbal quality with medical minty notes, followed by a gourmand, even slightly liquorice-smelling spicyness. Smells, in my opinion, as a more casual, more odern and youthfully reworked version of a Mediterranean scent( Teorema Uomo?, 1881?...) made to appeal to a more mainstream and less mature and conservative target. 21 April 2007

too pungent and in your face, a big recommendation is a little known jewel named M by Mimmina (its not even in our directory yet), its basicly what the dreamer should have been 23 April 2006

I'll agree, the top and middle notes of this fragrance are so pungent (in an intense flowery way) that it almost makes me dizzy. The longevity of this fragrance is amazingly good, and it therein where the value lies. The drydown is much more mellow and has an intersting blend of notes that I've never smelled before. Again, interesting, but not great, and nothing to really write home about. On some people, their body chemistry really brings these bottom notes alive, and on others, it is dreadful. Neutral review from me as you need to try it on yourself, and you must tolerate the flowery headache the first 30-45 minutes after application. 28 February 2006

As others have said, it's the dry down basenotes that truly make this scent worthwhile. Unfortunately, I can't stand it for the first hour or two... 14 January 2006

The drydown is the only part of this scent that I like. There's something in the top and middle notes that reminds me of a Sharpie (permanent felt marker). I like tobacco notes, but this one comes off as smelling very synthetic and harsh. If you could endure the first hour of this, then you're left with a nice powdery drydown of vanilla sweetness. But sometimes I just don't want to wait that long. 30 December 2005

i'll never make my mind up about this one. Sometimes it strikes me as an offensive synthetic concoction, but the dry down is pretty appealing. Not something I wear with much frequency. 14 December 2005

An oriental fragrance with juniper, amber and iris. Somewhat like D & G pour homme, but not exactly. A clean, slightly floral scent. The spray deodorant is a winner as well. The bottle is well designed, the visage staring out from it brings to mind an old Greek sculpture. The box is intriguing as well, and captures the spirit of the name, with a starry space scene and nebulae, and the silver metallic box top imprinted with the same visage as the bottle. 23 December 2002
