I love the opening - powdery floral with a well behaving violet. If only this phase could be extended throughout the fragrance progression. For once the violet departs, so does the magic. Which is a shame as TOUCH could have easily been a firm favorite from the house of Burberry. To my nose the base combination of white musk, vetiver and tonka bean is too much of an erratic performer to make this a staple in my wardrobe. Better suited for cool dry weather IMO. 19 October 2009

One of the few florals for men that I enjoy. The powdery violet is a great burst at the opening and it really stays with it through the tonka and musk end. Very linear with medium projection but unfortunately not very good longevity. The bottle and wood top are very cool for such a low-cost fragrance. 30 August 2009

All I can smell is violet, lot's of violet. There are subtle hints of pepper and mandarin. But mostly the violet takes over right from the start and retains it's grip throughout. It's not a bad fragrance, but to me it's very linear. 27 July 2009

I dig this scent. It was like $15 at Kmart so I can live with that. Lasts a long time, and smells great. Still a bit feminine to me though. Do I think it smells good? 5/5 Compliments from the ladies? 2/5 Overall 4/5 24 July 2009

The violet note in the top is quite weak and overwhelmed by the citrus, otherwise I would have hated this, but in fact it's pretty good and the whole fragrance is blended tastefully. Touch isn't an epiphany or anything and I don't think I'll purchase, but it's kinda nice to know an inoffensive, well made, nice smelling mainstream male frag is out there anyway. 30 June 2009

My wife bought me this on a whim as a gift from a department store. It's a very pleasant fragrance, nice opening with a quick blast of pepper. It smells quite sophisticated if anything, very cool and watery to me but not in the typical aquatic fragrance sense. It is very linear and holds no surprises after the initial burst but it is certainly appealing. My only real problem with it is it has absolutely no real longevity nor sillage. I'm *amazed* at the review that claims it lasts 24 hours. This is one of the shortest lasting perfumes I've ever experienced. I wear it around the house, usually on an evening after a shower: it has a lovely refreshing quality to it. But sadly it just doesn't have enough oomph to make it through the day at work. 19 June 2009

Light, woody and slightly powdery. A nice breezy scent easy on the nose. Like a lot of Burberry male scents, this has poor longevity. Unfortunately linear - I don't get much development from this. Pleasant, but a little too light and easily dispensable. 18 June 2009

Burberry Touch is somewhat of an nerve-racking fragrance. It begins with a crisp, light aroma of violets, mandarin, and pepper. This creates an aura of sophistication and smoothness. Unfortunately, this sophistication can come across as stand-offish; nearby noses will be wondering where the pleasant aroma is coming from and why it doesn't want to join their olfactory party. The truth is, though this fragrance smells pretty good and will elicit favorable comments, ultimately its subtle nature limits its potential. The fragrance never projects enough for both the user and their surrounding company to enjoy. This reserved sophistication is great for several settings, such as environments where you don't want to make too much noise, but it may leave you wanting during those times when you do. The fragrance eventually transitions through some enjoyable woody notes before settling on a musky, tonka bean dry-down accented by vetiver. I will agree, however, that Burberry Touch has great longevity. Overall, this cologne is well worth a purchase, but you have to know what you're getting into. I'm glad I bought it. 18 June 2009

Touch is a nice powdery violet scent that is comfortable to wear. There's not much development from top to bottom, but it's one note is so wonderfule that it doesn't have to evolve. This scent is like an old favorite t-shirt, it's super comfortable, it sits just right on your body, and you never get tired of it. 10 June 2009

A decidedly nondescript opening that evokes the delightful tones of wet cardboard. The prospect of top notes including violet and mandarin had promised a piquant blend to stir the senses, instead one is on the express route through mediocrity. One can only surmise that the quality of the ingredients is to blame here, rather than an imbalance.A briefly appealing period when the wood notes appear creates an accord of sweet hollowness that gives the illusion that Touch may indeed be a slow burner. Sadly, this very endearing phase quickly evaporates once the base notes join the throng. What should have been a slightly sweet, earthy dry down, becomes a timid almost indiscernible residue. A hugely disappointing product. 24 May 2009

Smells like all the other Burberry fragrance. Its slightly spicy with a hint of fresh. Nothing special, but I guess if you like other Burberry fragrances, you'll probably like this one. 17 May 2009

This stuff is awful! It has a sharp smell of chemicals, almost like the cleaner you use to clean up vomit. 15 May 2009

Really synthetic, too powdery and sooo strong!!! Yet it is somewhere in my top 10! I love it! It smells fresh to me! I dont like aquatics or hugo boss scents! This to me is what fresh smells like! Last all day. Doesnt change its mind on you. A violet pepper musk scent that is a classic! 06 May 2009

this is for the people with sensitive noses its light and dark at the same time its pleasant and comforting it is one of the longest lasting colognes.the beggining is fresh but not too fresh dark not strong smell then it mid drydowns to the same thing but soft vanliila musk comes through then it dries down to very little of the top plus a soft vanilla musk. i would recommend this for 80% of people it depends on your personality and what you like so try it out. 04 May 2009

spring and summer casual scent. comforting as mentioned before with a touch of swag due to the pepper and tonka bean. decent longevity and a bit alluring. i have had my 1.7 oz bottle for 2 years but will wear it more along with burberry summer. 25 April 2009

Very chic, sensual and sweet without smelling like candy or cookies. It is very comforting, full of natural sexiness, it can also be worn in the summer: if you like sweet, fresh-oriental scents even in the summer, this is great. You may forget about your odd, overdone and synthetic aquatics. 29 March 2009

It starts off with a powdery violet that avoids being too sweet. 15 minutes later it calms down into a peppery middle. finally, it ends with a musk/tonka bean combo that sticks around for hours and sits close to the skin. It's warm and simple. I love it. 16 March 2009

Brilliantly made and named as it really is a continous touch of soft and fresh sensuality. The sensation of lying in a newly made bed after using your girlfriends shower gel can be intoxicating. But like so many other men I prefer fragrances that speak of explosive adventure, treasures and elegant wisdom. So even though I can't get around the fact that I really admire the craftsmanship and idea in Touch, I shall continue to buy old dinosaurs with questionable reformulations instead. 18 February 2009

The initial blast brings to mind Fahrenheit. That doesn’t last long though, only few seconds, and soon it starts to remind me more some other scent; Herrera 212. And then very soon this separates from that one too, taking its own private path to move forward…. Touch for Men soon becomes very very linear and smooth blend of WHITE MUSK, soft woods, weak violets with distant yet notable dash of warm pepper. Slightly vanillic and powdery tonka bean is that final touch. This is well made scent that is completely non provocative or edgy. It is very easy to wear anytime, anywhere. *yawn* If you like fragrance that is clean, fresh and sensual - if you don’t want to disturb the people around you in slightest and play safe - and most of all, if you like white musk….then this is for you. To me Touch for Men is nice scent and extremely neutral. 03 February 2009

Easily the most comforting frag in my collection. I was cautioned by other members on this forum that the Violet in Touch dominates, and it's true. I was worried when I first bought this that the Violet would be too feminine, however it is very warm and surprisingly masculine. There's a certain amount of sweetness alongside the Violet, but it isn't prominent. Unfortunately, Touch doesn't last too long nor does it project... however this isn't a problem if you don't mind reapplicating every few hours. This smell is exactly what I want my sheets and clothes to smell like- it smells warm and inviting. Though not the most acknowledged scent in my collection by my girlfriend or her friends, this is one that I really enjoy on my own, and I recommend it. 19 January 2009

The top notes you get when spraying are cedar and moss with a bit of musk and violet. This dries down to a clean and slightly creamy (wood and violet) aroma that does not last very long (maybe 4 hours). I wish it did last longer, but it is a good summer scent for keeping it light. There's really nothing powdery happening, it's very bright and woodsy. Definitely an oriental-wood style fragrance. Of course this may be different on the skin of another. 04 January 2009

I really did not like the opening blast of "something" rancid. Can't put my finger on it. Almost smells vegetable in nature. Mildly pleasant after about an hour - but who has an hour to wait for the mystery stench to evaporate. 25 December 2008

I like the whole frangrance, its nice a soft and also smooth. I think its for the confident men out there. I received complements from men as well as women, its pretty good overrall. I would definitely recommend this to those who want to impress the ladies and women. 07 December 2008

Ah. Now MikeyP said this was feminine and I agree. I bought a miniature bottle for myself which sadly leaked away thru a faulty cap and I haven't replaced it yet. For me it is almost... almost... like some of my long-lost faves. Something of the Climat by Lancome or the Elegance by Avon ( I adored this as a child and had some in a brown glass turtle bottle, we're talking over 30 years ago, sweet!). Anyway whatever it is ,I found this an old-fashioned, unique, unusual, warm but not sickly feminine scent. 22 October 2008

I'm new to fragrances, the only other scent I've bought recently is Thierry Mugler Cologne, another fragrance I like very much. I like this one a lot, the floral notes seem to stay with it through most of the scent, drying down into a soapy clean feeling that makes it a very nice scent for hanging out around the apartment or for wearing in a professional work environment. It doesn't strike my as a good nightlife scent, because it's very calming and definitely has a feminine feeling. I think this is why I like it, I don't really like over the top masculine musks, and I could see a woman wearing this scent just as much as a man. At Sephora I was torn between this and Dior Eau Sauvage, and chose this one because fall is coming and the pepper lends it a slight spiciness that might be nice as the weather gets a little colder. The sillage isn't over the top, it wears pretty close to the skin but I find women on the subway leaning in close to me on the subway in the morning after putting it on. Very nice, and reasonably priced. I'm very happy with this purchase. 30 August 2008

Sweet. Powdery. Violet-ey compliment-magnet. Makes a good and exciting first impression -- but bores quickly. Like a one night stand. Or most blind dates. Or MacOS X. 11 July 2008

All I can smell is the harsh violet which overpowers everything else (though, in fairness, this happens to me with other violet scents, like Grey Flannel). There is a coolness to it, much like Vicks Vapo-rub, but it always gives me a headache. This stuff doesn't have longevity and sillage, it has a half-life and a fall-out zone. We're talking 24 hours or more. Go easy on it. Why the neutral review? I received some good compliments on it. If violet doesn't overpower your nose, you will probably like this. 08 July 2008

At first I wasn't sure about this. The floral notes were a bit much for me...but one it dries down it's not overpowering and has a light musky smell. It is masculine, but I could see women wearing this just as easily. Not what I was expecting for a Burberry scent, but quite enjoyable. Thumbs up from me! 05 July 2008

At first, I could not even smell this scent on paper. Then, I smelled it and hated it. However, I took a sample home because I'm a sucker for that "girls love it" sales pitch When I sprayed it on myself something completely different happened. This is now my daytime scent and it usually lasts 8-10+ hours on me, but I do have oily skin. Usually people complain about it not lasting long. I don't mind the floral notes, as it suits my personality anyway. 16 April 2008

Very soft and powdery. I bought this cologne off ebay after reading the positive reviews about it on this site, gave it to the boyfriend, and absolutely love it on him! I ask him to wear it before a session under the sheets! 28 December 2007

One of my favourite openings, it's very sweet. I disagree with the review calling it "clean", it settles down into a musky scent, but my only criticism is that it just doesn't last on me. At a rough estimate, I don't get much more than 4 or 5 hours before it disappears. My favourite Burberry frag, although admittedly I've only tried the others on testers. 20 December 2007

Love it! A slight spicy top, which disappears into a warm, sexy, seductive smell after that. This certainly isn't a clean fragrance, more of a dirty musky frag w/ some romantic highlights. Seductive and a touch feminine (which is why the ladies love this)! Definitely a favorite of mine! I will say there's a brief time period that it smells a bit sour, perhaps a bit too musky, but once that goes away its pure sexy after that! 02 November 2007

After reading the positive reviews and pretty much forgetting how this scent smelled, I bought this scent anyway as part of an exchange at the store. At first spray, I couldn't stop laughing, not because it was bad or gross, but because a whole bunch of ???'s popped up in my head. I got a rather distinct association of an old lady feel--well let's nix the old lady association and just say I tagged a feminine feel to the scent because of its obvious violet top note that stretches itself all the way through most of the scent. I started to relax as the warm woods and pepper emerge with the oakmoss to become a warm fougere type scent, like a cross between Chanel Pour Monsieur EdT Concentree and Grey flannel. All this time I catch whiffs of the violet shot high and floating over this undercurrent of woods that finally tone down to its base of vetiver and a clean musk. I'm glad that I got to own this one, I appreciate more these types of scents that catch me off guard, as I thought I was expecting a very generic composition, mainstream and reserved. A scent can look very good on paper, but can smell totally unlike it how suggests. This is another scent that gives me total reverence to Burberry's approach to perfumes, just different and sophisticated and really I haven't ever thought of them being a copycat perfumer so common these days. 21 October 2007

One of my newest mainstream favorites. To be honest, I'd been expecting more mass-produced sh*t from Burberry when I first sampled this one. (London and Brit are just "OK" in my book -- good enough, but by no means great. I'm old school -- I love the long discontinued original, something which I can just barely detect traces of in London. But I digress.) Touch is very warm and musky -- a great violet note, too, without overpowering (as Grey Flannel, Halston for Women, and other violet frags can do all too easily). I get tons of compliments from members of both sexes when I wear this one. I swapped Lightninrod for a big bottle a few weeks back, and I've not regretted it since. 12 October 2007

Definitely a clean scent as if you got right out of the shower. I must say, it's the best version of what a "clean" scent is that I have smelled to this day including ADG. 11 July 2007

The foremost exclamation here is... WOW! I have noticed this fragrance out in public places for several years now. It always caught my attention wherever I encountered it, but never did I know what it was. Then, after reading several reviews on Basenotes, I studied the fragrance notes and wondered if this might be the scent I was in love with. I ordered a bottle and sure enough, IT WAS! TOUCH is a sublime formula of woods, soft musk, and a touch of sweetness. I've never liked any fragrance this much. I used to wear BY MAN, and I agree with a reviewer that this and TOUCH do share some of the same characteristics, although I think BY MAN is much sweeter--more in the Oriental category as opposed to the Woodiness of TOUCH. This rates a huge thumbs up, and my highest praise. The sillage is simply the best, and will absolutely turn heads and garner compliments. I never leave home without my TOUCH! 02 July 2007

OK here I go...Was at Sephora and was examining the colognes. After quite a while, one of the female workers told me that Touch was her favorite. Sprayed it on, and right when I left the mall two girls who were walking behind me were talking about how good I smelled. It's like im getting aromatherapy each time I wear it. Quite nice and fresh, and seductive at the same time. 12 May 2007

This is a very original scent that I purchased blind based on the recommendations recieved here. While some people expressed concerns of this scent being too sweet, harsh, or even stimulating allergetic reactions, I have found this scent to be quite pleasing, and a staple of the Burberry line. The scent itselft does not have the Ho-Hum smell of most crap put out by clothing designers today, and at first I didn't like it. After wearing it for a night, and letting it cool down into something less abrasive to the nose, I LOVED it. Girls would stop me and ask me what I was wearing, there boyfriend NEEDS some. The most prominent notes are the Vetiver, Oakmoss, Violet, and Pepper. It is a great scent for a night out, or even at the office. A word to the wise; two sprays is enough. 08 October 2006

the first thing that stikes me is the classy bottle which set the tone for this fragrance. i love the violet leaf note along with a solid citrus presence and excellent balance of strong wood notes. not something i would wear day in day out, but finishes of a suit or formal wear nicley 11 May 2006

The only thing that really comes out on me with this scent is the pepper and the white musk, then, after it dries down quite a bit, there is a little fresh smell (violet) to it. It must be my skin because my friend had it and it smelled more refreshing on him. I liked it more on him more. I don't like the musk/pepper smell that seems to be over taken on my skin. Right before it goes away it smells good though...alas. 31 March 2006

One of my favorite orientals. I don't think this smells anything like Escada Magnetism, nor should it give anyone a migraine as others have suggested. Touch is smooth and creamy, with sweet tonka and white musk accenting and rounding out its essence very well. Perfect for something pleasant and mellow on a cold night, I wouldn't want to wear this in the heat. Certainly a seasonally-conditional fragrance, but one that is pulled off very nicely. Burberry has left me very impressed with this offering, that is a good alternative to the original. 05 March 2006

My favorite Burberry fragrance. The white musk is soft and warm, and the violet subtely floral - these two notes stay with me more than any other. Rather a romantic smell, this one, and I only wear it at night. 14 February 2006

I love the opening. The first note that comes to me is a sharp violet leaf note along with a solid citrus presence, which moves to an excellent balance of wood notes. Wonderful. Then, unfortunately, the base changes the established energetic pattern by becoming soft and subtle with a white musk/tonka combination. It loses me here because it loses its potency. As in many other fragrances, white musk just disappears on me. Burberry Touch is a well-made Oriental that is different from the run-of-the-mill fragrances. If it didn’t depend so much on white musk in the dry down, it would certainly be one of my favorites. 10 January 2006

I totally agree with madgradrx... This scent is so variable it drives me nuts sometimes! It's very much a "cold weather" cologne. I live in the tropics, and Touch just reacts badly to heat and humidity. It's not a bad scent, but Brit and Pleasures do much, much better in my climate. 23 November 2005

One of the most maddeningly variable scents in my collection. On some days the scent dries down quite nicely to a refined mix of violet, musk and peppery woods. On others the white musk and tonka dominate. When I first bought it, there were more of the former days than the later. 07 November 2005

A very unmistakeable fragrance. The violet note makes it a little to floral for my tastes though. However the white musk gives the fragrance a nice soft drydown and a very sophisticated elegance. I've never been a fan of white musk, but when combined with the other notes in Touch, it becomes a very sweet and soft scent. 11 October 2005

Strange, unique scent that I can't totally dislike. It hints of the typicaly, oriental scents out there, but it doesn't stay sweet for long. It is airy, musky, a bit unpredictable, and definitely sticks out! I am a big fan of the Burberry line, and this one fits in ok. 05 October 2005

Touch for Men is a sweet cologne, but not too much, just enough to set it apart. Can't really grasp what makes it sweet though, but I do like it. And it does get compliments, just don't overspray this one. Some colognes aren't meant for overspray, and this is definitely one of them. (They tend to be sweet colognes that do this.) 01 October 2005

This smells very synthetic to my nose. It starts out with a plasticy sweet top, and then dries down to a slightly sweet, somewhat generic base. Not a terribly interesting fragrance. I can’t see a reason to own a bottle. 29 September 2005

It's somewhat surprising that a brand like Burberry have released so many high class scents. London, Touch and Brit are all excellent in terms of quality, originality and overall appeal. Touch is quite deceptive, first comes across like a light musk, but turns out to be a very potent violet blend with a peppery heart. It's one of those scents that are instantly recognizeable like Fahrenheit or Le Male. For me it 's already a modern classic. 03 August 2005

This perfume is realy unique: although I can't stand musk in general, Burberrys have managed to produce a rare combination here that I actually like a lot! It's my causal perfume, which means I wear it every day. In spite of the musk base notes, it feels fresh and floral on me. I've received very positive feedback from people at work, and friends. It's too gentle for some folks, so I always recommend trying it before you buy but I give it high thumbs up. 20 July 2005

A simply amazing fragrance! It's truly unique, and never fails to get compliments. Often people ask what I'm wearing, and sometimes I'll tell them. The notes tend towards the fresh, but there is a definite woodiness that blends well with the white musk without weighing it down. This was available for a brief while at Sephora as an eau de parfum, and I hope it returns soon, because I'd love another bottle! 26 November 2002

One to have at work (for freshening up) and One for my home. Guess Im addicted :-) 17 January 2001 |
