Reviews of Versus Uomo| Darvant ItalyShow all reviews | Complex scent that is all initial blast of green elements and citruses, an arsenal of citruses i mean (in particular lime, lemon, mandarin) which make as counter-party to a very resinous (amber, benzoin, vanilla) woody, musky base, passing through an heart made by nocturnal flowers and plants ( violet, jasmine, rose, orris, palisander, magnolia). Tonka bean and cedar impress their touch to base notes. It's masculine, lemony, fresh and a bit dark with a woody, ambery, musky undertone. Very interesting and unfortunately discontinued. 23rd January, 2011. (Last Edited: 14th March, 2011.) |

| Bigsly United StatesShow all reviews | Very strong for about two hours, but then it really settles down. For that first couple of hours it has a sort of lemon meringue type of quality, though not really edible. Once we get to the stage where it's very light, it reminds me of a very refined version of Old Spice with some cedar and pine. It's pleasant, unique, well balanced, dynamic, and technically sound, but the "volume" difference between the first couple of hours and next several is drastic, so I could see how some people would either think it is too strong or too weak, depending on how many sprays they use and possibly some other factors like skin chemistry. 25th November, 2009. |
| odysseusm CanadaShow all reviews | This opens with good citrus-spice notes. There is a silvery hint of violet leaf. This softens into a pretty cloud of spice, floral notes and more violet leaf. So far the scent is smooth, a bit sweet but pleasant. The spices and violet give a clean, slightly soapy character. The dry-down gets more sweet. The tonka gives a hay/vanilla combination, and the musk adds to the sweetness. I lose interest due to the sweetness, but it wasn’t bad up to that point. 17th November, 2009. |
| cheekyhamsta United KingdomShow all reviews | I recall having a bottle of this fun-filled creation in 1995. I also remember adoring the smell which I have seen described accurately as resembling a lemon sherbet candy/fountain or lemon cheesecake…you get the drift. I haven’t smelt it since, but its distinctive and playful smell has remained imprinted on my mind. It made an excellent casual and long lasting fragrance, but on balance was probably a bit too frivolous or “yoof” smelling to use as an office scent in a serious work environment or for anyone over 35 years old. Its lemony-powdery-piney drydown was quite metrosexual in my opinion, and might also have made it a good unisex fragrance. Why on earth this gem of a scent was discontinued is truly baffling, as it could only bring a smile to anyone’s face who whiffed it. UPDATE: Found a bottle of this in Sudan very recently and snapped it up! It's as good as I remember it being 4th October, 2009. (Last Edited: 9th December, 2009.) |
