Reviews of Viking| Shifty Bat United StatesShow all reviews | Viking is interesting, but not in a makes-me-want-to-wear-it kind of way. Spicy-fresh, with an herbal anisic opening reminiscent of the later Perry Man, viking's fatal flaw was lack of focus. I once mentioned Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme is like everything I enjoy smelling crammed into a juicer, and this guy apparently tried the same approach but brought the wrong 'everything.' The real problem occurs about a half-hour in, when the fresh, airy herbs wilt in the face of a monstrously ugly musky pineapple smell that remains on the skin for a good day afterward. 26th July, 2011. |

| foetidus United StatesShow all reviews | The opening accords of Viking are really gaudy and loud, not to mention somewhat nauseating: cardamom, pepper, nutmeg, pineapple lavender, anise…together! It smells just as bad as it sounds. There are too many notes and no balance or smoothness. The top and mid notes of this fragrance are messes. They’re sharp. They’re overly busy with spices and fruit and conifers and pineapple. Mind you, this is not a beautifully balanced multi-noted Havana. This is a chaotic conglomeration a little in the pattern of America by Perry Ellis, only PE’s America is a masterpiece compared to this. Then, in stark contrast to the overdone top and mid notes, the base notes come off as dull. As dull as the base is, though, it’s an improvement over the top and middle. 7th October, 2006. |
![]() Connoisseur Show all reviews | Viking is a fruit and light spices, ozonic fresh fragrance that smells a little like something Perry Ellis would make. It actually smells like Perry Ellis Reserve with an airy ozone note. Viking is mainly pineapple, juniper berry, ozone, light florals and spices, with a balsamic, wood and patchouli base. Sadly, the dry down is a little too bland and overall it is a very generic late 90's fragrance. It's surely nothing that will turn heads. Actually, it already smells a little dated. Some of the highly fruity scents of the late 90's are getting old fast IMO. I'd pass on this one. 23rd October, 2004. |
