Dear Body Shop

Could you please please stop selling large gift boxes of White Musk and White Musk Paraphrenalia as appropriate presents for female friends/ friends of friends?

White Musk is ok and has its place, but I am very fed up with men (and some women) going into your shop and coming out with a beautifully wrapped year's supply of the stuff just for lil ole me.

I get at least one a year from people with whom I exchange presents, and using up White Musk bath and body lotion is all I seem to do at the gym, on those evenings when I know I will be going home alone. White Musk is nice enough but it is not a perfume I want to wear anywhere. I have had it.

I do not want any more White Musk or White Musk side kicks.

White Musk seems to be the present of choice for a guy who is in a hurry, is not trying to impress and knows that women like your products. I shudder to think of all the Mammies out there who have to buy anexes to their homes just to store the stuff.

And because I was raised Catholic I just cannot get myself to bin a present somebody gave me, so I am using it up on the sly.

Alternatively if you could recommend a therapist who will make it ok for me to just bin it...

Like most "white" (or clean, soapy) musks, this oil starts off a bit strident, a bit obvious, but eventually softens as it melts into the skin. This is a good summer daytime alternative to the Kiehl's Musk, which has a richer, slightly funkier aspect more suitable for evening or cooler weather. This is less sweet and insipid than other white musks I've tried, like Alyssa Ashley or Jovan. Not terribly interesting, but inoffensive.

Despite my fussy olfactory preferences and library of perfumes, my husband turns into a wanton beast when he smells this. Its a sad state of affairs as I just cannot, cannot bring myself to wear this. Its just a bit generic, nicey for me and reminds me of the 80s.

This is really lovely. Unfortunately for me it has too many associations with the 80's because that's when I was at school and everyone was wearing it. It's just very innocent and pretty, warm but fresh and clean. If you're ever thinking of buying perfume for a young lady of perfume wearing age and you're not sure what to get I'd say this is a pretty safe bet. (Hey sod the 80's I might have talked myself into buying it again!). I did think it was rather a shame when the body shop changed the bottle some years ago too.

Reasonable quality but anonymous and fairly generic scent. Starts off with lots of green notes and a strong smell of clean linen - it's similiar at this stage to Paul Smith Story, or Body Shop's own Kistna. It ends on a floral musky note.

Such an unique fragrance! Through all the years (I'm 21) I'm not sure I've found any fragrance like this. To me, it's sensual, and it seems like men may get affected by it... maybe. So try this one instead of spraying on a pheromone spray :) The fragrance is quite sweet. I've got it as an EDP, so I don't know about the EDT, if that one's any different...

I really like this subtle and clean scent (even as a guy), and while it's hard for me to use it straight, I find it to be a wonderful base to mix green notes with (from essential oils and fragrance oils).

They have a "perfume oil" version of this scent in addition to the eau de toilette. The oil is more concentrated and longer-lasting (although the store clerk kinda went blank on me when I pressed her on the approximate concentration).

Body Shop is currently clearing out their existing White Musk stock in preparation for a new packaging of the line, which includes an eau de parfum version (currently already available in the UK - check the UK online store). it smells like NOWHERE TO RUN for me! i just don't like the musky..it's too cheapy

My sister wears this. Despite it's unisex rating, it is very feminine. Soft, light, musky. It seems to linger and follow the person who wears it. Nice, but unoriginal. More of a scent than a real perfume. For women who just want to smell "nice."

A friend of mine wears this exclusively. It's so fresh and clean on her, and also smells a little like freesia blossom. I've never worn it myself cause I wouldn't want to start wearing "her" fragrance, but I think it's a charming scent. It's decidedly girly, imo. I can't quite see a man wearing it but whatever floats yer boat. ;-)

white musk was the first fragrance i ever purchased, i bought it in the oil form. It is a comforting fragrance for me as my grandmother wore it when i was little- i think this scent passses the test of time because it doesnt smell dated although it has been around for a long time and comes from the 80's- a very easily unfashionable era.
