Yuk! Pencil shavings and suffocating church-like incense. What were they thinking? Suitable for a gothic funeral. 16 January 2009

Smells like food to me...like kitchen. Hot dogish hehe Like soup with a hot dog in it. That very interesting, but I don't want that on my skin. 13 November 2008

Slightly medicinal topnotes followed by dry, short-lived heartnotes. The basenotes are better: woods, smoke, incense, and amber. Quite warm but not very original. In fact, the main problem with this one is its lack of creativity. Nothing interesting going on at all. 31 October 2007

Does anyone get pencil-shavings and body-odour? Let me enlighten you on the "type" of b-o I mean: the b-o that publicly-employed, county maintenance workers sport on a stinking hot day...A sharp-dry type of b-o, the type typical of the hight of summer...PEEEEE-EEEWWW! Then, add to this, essence of pencil-shavings...stir in a hint of incense and vetiver, and to enhance everything that is wrong with the scent, add a few drops of oil of papyrus...stir well, and bottle. But don't foget to dust with white pepper, to induce sneezing and give a sharp dustyness to that good-awful pencil-shavings-body odour-smell! Granted, the incense and vetiver in this is good, but the other elements runi it for me...! 12 June 2007

I can't stand it! Smells to like people in some of their most intimate places! I don't know what it is, but Timbuktu has it too. Wear some pencil-shavings between your butt cheeks and you know the smell of Gucci Pour Homme! Stick to Envy, if you ask me! 11 December 2006

Since the release of Envy, the house of Gucci has been on a downward spiral. And Gucci pour homme does little to change that. The first few seconds are pleasant. It smells sharp and bright. Almost immediately, you get wood. Lots of it. Powerful cedary wood enough to make you feel super manly. And thats the main problem with this fragrance. Its too much of one accord, leaving you clamoring for more. Some accords/notes lend themselves to a one man orchestra much better than others. Sandalwood, rose, vetiver and even some citruses qualify for that. Cedary wood is a no-no, atleast for me. It smells unfinished, as if it was supposed to anchor some other notes which didnt wind up in the potion. It like eating pasta without sauce, pizza without cheese, or salad without lettuce (for all you health freaks out there). To add insult to injury, this wood needs a dose of viagra every now and then - its lasting power is less than impressive. "Tom Ford wanted this scent to be like the classic men's fragrances of the seventies", so says the Basenotes write-up. I say, why not bring back from the dead the classic Gucci Pour homme (1976)? Unlike this train wreck, that one actually has balls. 02 December 2006

So disappointed. I was after another distinctive perfume such as Kouros or Fahrenheit. Gucci pour Homme evaporates and fades very quickly. Unfortunately does not seem to have any layers of scent revealing themselves as it fades, it just disappears - and soon! Not a memorable or must have aroma either; personally I feel I would have been better off taking pot luck with any other perfume rather than buying this. 21 October 2006

This garbage smelled way too sweet for my taste. It was just repulsive, to the point of nauseas and it grabbed itself to my skin with fiery intensity. I tried to get rid off it and had to scrub it with scouring pad and Dawn Ultra Concentrated. It lasts forever. Try it before you buy. You may end up losing your money. Terrible stuff for my type of skin and my nose. 23 May 2006

In the summer we have a problem with grass fires around here. The smell that permiates the air on these hot, windless days is almost excactly mirrored by this migraine-inducing fragrence. I admit I never gave it a chance to settle down, but after the first 15 minutes, I started feeling that sickening pounding in my head. 24, Ca, USA 05 May 2006

It smells like salt and blood. I was watching Saw 2 when I first bought this cologne and it seriously made me sick to my stomach. Don't buy this. You'll regret it. If I ever smelt someone wearing it I would be completely turned off. 04 May 2006

It has been said before and I will say it again on here PENCIL SHAVINGS!!!!! I am usually a very tolerant person when it comes to scents. I rarely find a fragrance that I absolutely do not like. However, I absolutely HATE this stuff. I got a sample of it when I bought something else. I got home and tried it on. It made me sick to my stomach. And you almost CAN'T wash it off! So, perhaps it does have a long life over the day. I just do not understand all of the postive reviews. Normally on here, I find myself defending a scent instead of being the one to bash it. But with this I simply can not find a positive thing to say about it, except that, thank goodness I did not have to pay for it. Very bitter scent. If you like this and don't already have it, save your money, buy an electric pencil sharpener, sharpen a bunch of pencils, pull out the shavings tray, add water, stir, and voila! You have Gucci pour Homme 11 August 2005

I find that too much cedar can be very cloying, but some cedar based scents like the earlier Gucci Rush manage to avoid that by balancing the "pencil shaving" note with for instance soft, sweetish incense. In this Gucci however, the smoky bit just enhances the cedar in a negative way, making it cloying and simple smelling somehow. I agree with others about very poor longevity as well. In my opinion Gucci has released 3 great scents before: Nobile, Envy and Rush. And as the two latter ones are very woody as well there is no reason for acquiring PH at all. 03 August 2005

Awful, smells like pencil shavings and I'm NOT kidding. It smells NOTHING like the original. Why defile the original pour homme with such a bad smell. It's as though Envy & Oscar for men collided 02 March 2004

First of all, I find it short on the lasting power, second of all, there is a slight body odor note in there, and 3rd of all, as great as the packaging is, there are much better scents available, with much greater depth. All of the Gucci fragrances by Ford suffer from that Ralph Lauren mistake of being indistinct and simple. I'll save my money for some L'Artisan Dzing! 22 December 2003
