Eau de Cologne (1989)

Reviews of Eau de Cologne| Jack Hunter United KingdomShow all reviews | This is a strong lemon scent and then some. It has the same lemon as others from this fragrance house. Where as Wellington is very nicely blended with neroli, rosemary and orange, this smells like a strong citrus blast of lemon. 15th January, 2012. |
| foetidus United StatesShow all reviews | Cologne has a pleasant citrus / floral opening: a clear and nicely sharp Neroli, lemon and bergamot accord combined with rosemary. I think there is a trouch of rose in the mixture, too. It’s certainly a very good representative of the eau de cologne genre in quality, aroma, and performance. For Trumper’s citrus fragrances, I prefer GFT—it’s much more complex and warm and interesting. For Eau de Colognes, I think there are better ones than this, although this is a very nice fragrance. 7th June, 2011. |
| Redbeard United StatesShow all reviews | This old Eau de Cologne is largely the usual brew, with a bit more orange and less lemon at first. It goes through a short phase which I could do without, where the orange recedes to reveal a very dour, sour lemon like Wellington or Blenheim. Once that's gone, however, it's rather nice...a soapy and floral EdC, less herby or citrusy than others. Very gentle and calm, and the soap isn't harsh or dry at all, but slightly green-smelling. This phase lasts for a long time on cloth, with rather good strength for an EdC. What's left by the end has the lush, moist floral quality of a Gendarme scent, and the strength and stamina of a monster compared to their Limes or Portugal. Well done! 26th March, 2011. |
| Harvitz81 Show all reviews | Excellent citrusy and orange blossom opening. Very sharp, straightforward and refreshing on initial dosing. For an EdC and citrus scent the longevity is decent, but something that if you wanted to smell all day would require multiple dosings. Somewhat of musky undertones remain after several hours, but the citrus is long gone after 30-60 minutes. 24th March, 2011. |
| scentsitivity United StatesShow all reviews | A traditional Eau de Cologne with a dominant neroli presence. Pleasant, yet not often discussed for reasons that escape me. Acceptable longevity for a traditional EDC. 5th December, 2010. |
| bokaba United StatesShow all reviews | I think Trumper Eau de Cologne is the best eau de cologne available for a reasonable price on the market today. The opening is a bright, but debonair citrus with orange blossoms then a light floral heart with a little musk. Very natural smelling indeed. This is a bergamot driven cologne (not neroli like Roger & Gallet Extra Vieille and Eau du Coq). This strikes me as a slightly poorer quality version of vintage Faria Gegenueber, which sells at exorbitant prices. 20th December, 2009. |
