Eau de Cologne (1989)

Perfectly nice, traditional eau de cologne. It goes on citrusy with a strong petitgrain backbone, while green basil gives it some heft. Meanwhile, there's orange blossom, but it's so laden with honey and burnished woods that it ends up smelling more like acacia or hawthorn. The whole thing peters out after a few hours, with no real basenotes to carry it further, but that's typical of the genre, so it's not a complaint.

As for what makes Trumper's Eau stand out from the many others available, I like the acacia feel, with its upfront woody smell - I find this more masculine and a bit darker than most eau's, yet still bright enough to fully satisfy as a citrus scent. Nice.

Almost every scent house has its version of the classic "Eau de Cologne." Trumper's take on this theme (lemon, bergamot, neroli, rosemary) differs in that its very dry, crisp base is evident from the very beginning, thus grounding this elusively light scent profile.

Petitgrain, musk and rose are lightly blended to provide this pungent anchor for the sweet and heady lemon, neroli brightness. This is reminiscent of the grandfather of all colognes, Hungary Water.

One of the very best of the Eau de Colognes available today and quite affordable.

As a big fan of good old 4711 Eau de Colgne, I approach the Trumper version with some trepidation. But I needn't have worried - I like it better!

The opening lemon citrus blast is brighter and fresher than most, and I love it - Trumper really does citrus well. The neroli in the mix is nicely done too.

The drydown is refined, and the longevity is pretty decent for an EdC. It's a favourite.

A traditional Cologne

A traditional opening blast of lemon, bergamot and neroli set the tone, only later with a light touch of white musk. Well done, adequate projection, and a longevity of about two hours on my skin. Nice for warm weather.

This is a strong lemon scent and then some. It has the same lemon as others from this fragrance house. Where as Wellington is very nicely blended with neroli, rosemary and orange, this smells like a strong citrus blast of lemon.
