I remember first discovering this at exactly the same time as Oyédo. The extremely attractive Parisian SA raved on about how it was her favourite scent and how she was wearing that day. Personally, I thought it was a herbal mess (and nowhere as wonderful as Oyédo). I’m pretty sure that wearing me would have been far more interesting than her wearing this horrible orange concoction… [Original submission date: 25 May 2008] 26 June 2009

This is by far one of my favorite scents from Diptyque. It is a perfect combination of bitter-orange, lavander, and herbs of which the coriandre comes across nicely. I find it to be one of the most enjoyable summer scents, as opposed to all of the eaux/citrus scents which are most common. Pure perfection. 01 August 2008

Not overly sweet at all! The herbs definitely come across and contrast beautifully with the orange while complementing interestingly the lavender. The Mediterranean in Winter and Summer at the same time. 18 January 2008

I really enjoy the unusual combination of notes in Eau d’Elide. They are juxtaposed in such an engaging way: The bitter orange and wild lavender seem made for each other, although I wouldn’t have guessed that that combination would work. The aromatics do not come through as strongly to me as the orange and lavender, but they provide good background. I really love the scent, but it doesn’t seem to last on me. Of course it’s to be expected that the orange would be gone rather quickly, but even the lavender and aromatics don’t seem to hold on to my skin, and I also have a difficult time holding on to the musk, although what I do experience of it, is beautiful. 15 October 2006

I don’t know HOW people like this one, but I think it’s awful. Imagine this: A creamy OrangeSicle (You know those orange popsicles with cream inside). Now, imagine you drop that OrangeSicle into a sack of assorted herbs that you bought from your local health food store. It’s horrible. The herbal notes don’t compliment the orange note at all. It’s awful. 20 September 2005

Diptyque’s interpretation of the orange note in D’Elide is nothing short of luscious. This is what it means to be umami, the epitome of richness. In this scent, the bitter orange note is enveloped in a layer of sultry vanilla. I love sweetness and this one blows my mind with a double whammy! The slight bitter note gives the scent a nice complexity and depth. Though created in 1988, thankfully it is still readily available. 04 November 2003
