AMBRE is surprisingly competent, though not particularly sophisticated as others have rightly pointed out. Not much woods nor spice either but it does get smokier towards the drydown. Lasts an acceptable 4-5 hours on me.

Obsession for Men stripped down it the amber and it's quite good. Perfect for layering on other fragrances that need a bit of sweet, spicy and woodiness. Also wonderful to fall asleep to.

The opening blast reminds me irresistibly of what I enjoyed in POTL Luctor et Emergo: a nutty, smoky-sweet resinous accord. That alone convinced me to buy it, and I do not regret it. It may not be the most sophisticated amber fragrance out there, but it's super enjoyable. Its sweetness *does* have the potential to get cloying, I have to pick the right day to wear it.
A cuddly blanket of a scent.

L'Ambre is a dark woody blend of Cistus Labdanum and Vanilla, with overwhelming notes of synthetic Ambrox.

A resinous musky amber lacking the typical sweet cloying properties of most inexpensive Amber based EDTs.

Lacks sophistication, but is quite tolerable, and has diffuses from the skin nicely.

Powerful - a small spray goes a long way and lasts very well. It does have that slightly strange L'Occitaine base note that I'm not sure if I like.

However, this is rich and simple amber; an uncluttered classic and very affordable.

I love love the smell of amber after visiting Marrakech and I was happy to find a perfume that comes very close to the amber I smelled there. It makes me think of my time there and it's warm, very sexy but not overwhelming like some fragrances can be that have Amber has a basenote and you have to wait till the perfume get's there.

This allows you to go straight to the note you love and it stays, plus the bottle is small so you can buy loads and carry them around with you. Did I mention buying loads?

L'Occitane's Ambre is a real social climber! Slightly smokey and vanilic, this friendly juice is sure to please. I also get quite a generous note of cedar...warm, powdery, ever so lightly spiced. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm cozy. I'd love to get my hands on the oil or EDP of this stuff; although for an inexpensive edt it has suprisingly good sillage and staying power. Perfect for autumn!

I can't live without it...it can't get much simpler than that.

How completely disappointing that they discontinued the Ambre perfume oil. This EDP is a thin and light, artificial, citrusy, girlish and thoroughly boring amber. Why, oh why did they have to discontinue that gooey, balsamic, vanillic Ambre oil, oh why?????

Simple amber scent. It sort of reminds me of the drydown of Opium PH but without the spice. Unlike other frags that contain amber, this doesn't have that clay-like accord in it. It's pretty good considering the relatively low price. I believe a 100 ml bottle retails around $40. It's just too bad that it doesn't come in EDP strength because it fades rather quickly.

A hint of something citrus at the top. Only lasts a few seconds. It may just be a sharp spicy pungent odor that mimics citric notes. Then the incense rises. This one has the Gucci pour homme note that resembles the smell of an old cathedral. I smiled when this note appeared. Finally, the amber. Sweet notes undoubtedly influenced by the vanilla. Not too deep, just right. Something to complement my M7 in the wardrobe. Soothingly calm, a nice scent to envelop me when i sleep. Overall, a simple scent, nothing overtly luscious or voluptuous about it, which is fine, since you probably have MPG Ambre or Santal Noble or Sandalo to fit that category. L'Occitane Amber is just right for a nondescript evening out. Not to impress, only for personal enjoyment and comfort.
