This review is for the Classic Marte Battistoni Roma, now may be discontinued, not listed in Basenotes (anyway, i'm not able to find it out) and hard to find.
The Classic Marte is a distinguished, fresh fougere and a valuable solution for formal events and business meetings. The top notes are citrusy with an hint of basil, geranium and artemisia. The first blast is aromatic and almost mentholated. The heart is flowery (jasmine and carnation) while the base is made of rosewood, astringent cedar, vetiver and an hint of tobacco. The dry down is really gorgeous with its sour, a bit smoky, nearly incensed but still sweet mark. This is a dry flowery scent with a lot of woody texture and a green bitter aromatic soul. The longevity and sillage are great.

I was at the store, trying some frags when looking below I see that small bottle with that name...Marte, italian translation of the name Mars, the planet or the God of war.
Thinking nothing but the same stuff, the same boring scent came out from nowhere I sprayed it.
Oh my God! What a scent! Masculine right to the stars, elegant, well constructed and definitely it deserve a tryout.
It is comparable to the glorious scents made in the eighties, like Kouros, Azzaro, Trussardi, maybe a little bit of Creed Bois du Portugal.
In this fragrance I can see Caedar wood, sandal, Patchouli, leather, ruhm, but the note that remain is a beautiful Incense note.
A all year fragrance to me but better for winter months.
Really surprise me.
