Nice fruity opening and just sweet enough to be enjoyable and not over-the-top. I could not pin down the watermelon except to say it had an anonymous fruit accord with a hint of spice.

I'm grateful ( once again) that the suede note in the heart was subdued, but present. Heartnotes weren't as long lasting as I would have liked and the base is very good; however, a little too subtle. A little body heat gets them going though.

Nice frag. I'm glad I sampled a full wearing of this. Chic would be a good addition for rotation.

This goes straight into my top list of favourite sweet fragrances (along angel, lolita lempicka au masculine and rochas man). Fruit and spice are combined delicately , while the lasting is more than satisfactory. The bottle is so chic that sometimes i find myself looking at it for minutes !!!!

Sweet spicy fruit in the opening. Lasts long. Very sophisticated and refined. A nice one. A pleasant surprise after trying out 212 Men and 212 Sexy Men.

Excellent! A mellow scent with superb longevity. The citrus opening is not intense, the middle + the drydown is dark, sweet and seductive but not overpowering. It is a kind of seduction from within, a tamed beast, a true gentleman.

Chic is a typical Carolina Herrera fragrance in that it is well made and intelligent. Its opening of fruit and spice is very sweet but it’s a manageable sweet. It owes it sweetness to the watermelon, and anything concerning watermelon, in my book, is good. The watermelon / citrus really works, and, ok maybe there’s a nod in the direction of Millesime Imperial, but it isn’t that similar and that’s just temporary on the top notes. The middle goes spicy — warm spicy with cinnamon and pepper and very smooth. The mid notes don’t scream out for attention — they are poised and well balanced. The drydown continues the Herrera quality. Smooth, semisweet, not nearly as forceful as I’d like it, but keeping in tune with modern standards of fragrance; and retaining taste and class. I really wish the drydown had more potency — it is very enjoyable. Chic for Men is a bit similar to XS by Paco Rabanne, just as the top notes somewhat resemble Millesime Imperial, but it is different enough to merit investigation. Another nice creation from Carolina Herrera.

You know, after reading GeorgeBernard review, I have to agree with him and I am not a fan of any type of tobacco smoke. But it's not in a bad, nauseating kind of way. It's a nice coounterpart to the female version (which would make for a better cologne) which is why I gave this sample a try.

I was never a Herrera kinda guy. I had a friend who wore 212 and it just never struck a cord with me...it smelled like cheap cologne and fried food.
THAT was 5 years ago. My nose is alot more experienced and I can differentiate the ingridients better, but Herrera's line all smell like food (albeit ethnic and or exotic) balanced with a nice fragrance.
What I have also noticed with Herrera's line of fragrance is that they all seem to share a common base and the sillages are quite similar. I sampled Chic and I had to go home and smell my bottle of Herrera for Men because smelling Chic instantly recalled that fragrance. I would have bought Chic instead of Herrera for Men because I think it is better, but I don't think I can go all out with Herrera...the frags just seem like analogs of each other...and at least there is some honesty now with the 212 line, so you know you are getting some variation of 212...much better than coming up with a totally different name.
With all that said, Chic is very nice. Any serious fragrance guy should familiarize themselves with Herrera's line, it will train your nose if anything.

This smells like sweetened pipe tobacco. Not a bad smell, but when you use this fragrance you'll smell like you spent all day at the tobacconist. Nobody wants that, I guess. Therefore, thumbs down.

VERY NICE FRAGRANCE FOR THE YOUNG CROWD.I THINK THAT THE USE OF WATER MELON NOTE IN THE TOP NOTES IS A STROKE OF GENIUS BY THE HERRERA PERFUMERS.VERY LONG LASTING AND GOOD SILLAGE.THUMBS UP.

Well...I didn't like ANY of Herrera's cologne except for Herrera for men, the original. I tried about 95% of Herrera's line and nothing...UNTIL...Chic!!! Bingo! I hit a winner!! My wife loves it.

The first words out of her mouth was, "Thats a good balance!" Not too sweet not too citrusy..just right. She mentioned "Musky"..she likes that and sure enough it's in the notes! If you like fresh, clean, safe scents...this is a good one for you if you want a "Sexy" evening cologne or warm weather function cologne.
I finally hit gold with a Herrera cologne! Thanks to all who mentioned it to me!

Carolina Herrera is officially my favourite perfumer. Being already the owner of 212 Summer, i find CHIC equally as good if not better. I don't understand why one or 2 people just cannot resist the temptation of writing a bad review about it. Highly reccomended.

A very sensual and elegant fragrance, very masculine the girls loves it, but sadly… sniff sniff…sniff… it disappears in me just 20 minutes or less without chance to smell any base or drydown. Anyway! Thumbs Up for this stuff.
Aunque contrariamente a lo que dice el dicho Carolina si es poeta en su tierra because here in Venezuela all 212 line for men o women are totally sucessful

What I love about this fragrance is that it smells much sweeter than your average lotion for men, like the classic Carolina Herrera (which, by the way, smells delicious if you let it rest for 20 years- I found one bottle of it with my dad's stuff and finished it off in months. It smelled basically of tea, and much more sweeter). And, unlike other masculine versions of female scents, this one totally beats its counterpart. I'm wearing both right now, though.

Have you ever used old spice pure sport? This smells EXACTLY like it. One note is different durring drydown, but that's it. So if you want to know how this smells, go to your nearest supermarket and smell a pure sport deoderent stick. That being said, I happen to love the smell so I totally recomment Chic, unless you are worried about paying $40 for a scent that you could get for like three bucks at Safeway. 24, Ca, USA

I do agree there are some similarities with Creed's Millesime Imperial, it should also be pointed out that Herrera, just like Creed has a metallic house-note in many of their juices. I also definitely smell the cola-thing that some have metioned. Unfortunately there is also a significant amount of red pepper in the mix, that spoils the overall impression for me, making it somewhat similar to boring stuff like Gant Soho or
Tommy Hilfiger Freedom.

I get amber cola. Rich, longlasting and masculine, Chic is also quite sweet though tempered by woodsy notes in the drydwon. Overall a winner, but just not for me.

I like this one, but I can't quite figure out exactly what it is that I like about it. It's a mystery. One that you should investigate ;-) CH has once again made a scent that keeps me coming back for more.

This is really good , Carolina makes good scents in general, but i still prefer Herrera for men. This Chic for Men is heavy in the sense that if you put it on your clothes, it will last for days. On your skin it will stay forever as well. The fruityness and the sweetness are very well balanced with the woody and spicy elements. It's great for a fresher day than a sunny warm day cause if it's warm, the fragrance will jump out even more.
Very good.

What i find chic about this scent is the bottle that houses it. A really chic black bottle designed by Fabien Baron in the image of an ink bottle. The ink or juice however, does not really exude "chic" to me. The topnotes ara a fresh fruit cocktail of iced lemon, Italian bergamot and invigorating watermelon. Forget the citruses, it is the watermelon note that stands out and provides the freshness. This tenacious note follows the scent's evolution to the midnotes which reveals notes of suede, cinnamon and black pepper. The sweetness of the melon note combines well with the aromatic sweetness of the suede and spicy cinnamon. The suede note is not as luscious as in Michael Kors but it is the certainly a much needed presense that pulls Chic away from the brink of the innocuous modern citruses that are flooding the market these days. The basenotes of cedarwood, sandalwood and musk continues the theme of pungent sweetness and the central role of the suede note is apparent, to rein in the runaway sweetness of Chic.

Everything about Chic seems to complement Michael Kors very well, from the similar design of the bottle to the central suede note in each scent. These two would be the perfect match in a scent combo for the regular guy who sticks to 2 or 3 fragrances in his arsenal. Chic for casual use or office scent and Michael Kors for a more formal outing in the evening.

Chic is a delicious scent that is fresh and clean. Since the new millenium is a time that gives perfumers a lot of practice in constructing scents around the theme of "fresh and clean", it is good to see that Chic at least tries to be something interesting and creative albeit within a rapidly crowded scent category. The design of Chic is sure to please those who are looking for an understated scent that projects within their personal space. For those who prefer something with more projection, try Paco Rabanne XS and XS Extreme. Both cuts straight to the chase by eliminating the tutti-fruitiness of Chic and load the scent with plenty of leather and musk. For a more cultured fruity melon note, Creed's Silver Mountain Water can't be beat. However, i suspect, for everyday wear, Chic is enough.

I really like this fragrance and I will tell you why---it's not your everyday run-of-the-mill fragrance--plain and simple. It is "rich" to me in a way similar to a fruit cobbler with spice added. Compliments always abound when I wear this one and you don't need a whole lot of it to get a good effect and feel it's aura. I like to wear it on dates because of the sensual and sexy feel it has and because the sweetness is so alluring.

Another great fragrance from Carolina Herrera! A long lasting scent that has a great balance of sweetness, woodiness and fruitiness. Light but not too light. It reminds me of Escada Magnetism for men without the leather and not as heavy. Very sensual, and very Chic.

Ummm... a Chanel's Allure soft clon. A sweet-fruity scent with a cinnamon note, very addictive indeed. But the scent it's flat and doesn't last too much I think.

This Chic is disappointinlgly non-chic. Yes, it's sophisticated, but the result is too much like a toned-down XS. You want to know the meaning of chic? How about Gucci Pour Homme or Dolce & Gabbana - not everyone's cup of tea but it sparkles and impresses. One thing the market does not need is another derivative of known combinations.

I just don't "get it" with this one. It's like a NON-Fragrance. It's not woody, but it has wood, it's not citrus but it has citrus, it's not floral, but it's got floral and...it has almost zero staying power. It's a classy package with nothing much inside. J. Augustt 5-1-04 USA

Herrera strikes gold again!
This scent is a great follow up to the popular 212. A light and long lasting fruity modern oriental.
The scent is a unique blend of fresh airy fruits that burst out and then settles to very aromatic notes. After a while a very modern oriental base immerses with a slight sweetness that cuts the aromatic notes. Just when you think the scent is going oriental those airy fruits jump out at you.
This is a very wearable scent perfect for anytime and very upbeat.. modern..and wearable Chic!
